I've been wondering about the laces too, but wearing them the silhouette looks perfect so I'm happy.
It is made out of a really strong cow leather, same as CP's, and CP's used to cost about the same when they started out but have since pushed the price.
Either way I'm positive this is a pretty damn high quality shoe for 120-150 dollars (1000-1100dkk).

their website says 160 euros which is about 180 usd. cp used to be at the ~200 price point, but it was unsustainable. they lost money selling at that point, but they took the loss in order to get people wearing the shoes to understand the quality and build the hype, then they jacked the price up to a decent profit margin.

these royal republiqs look decent, i actually kind of like the laces. the three diamonds on the heeltab are hideous though. and i doubt that they're similar quality to CP. maybe one grade below in quality i'd believe that. again, it's not a profitable business model to make CP-esque shoes of the same materials and processes and sell them below 300.

I bought them in a small unisex size that run slightly cheaper.
But yeah, though these are like half the price I still doubt CP's are >twice< as high quality. I mean it's a great looking leather sneaker that is a huge step up from a pair of Vans and won't cost two thirds a months rent.
All in all a solid cop for the price.

And I don't mind the three diamonds at all. They're pretty low key, but sure, I'd like to have gold print letters on the ankle instead.
