I am very hyped over Faun, I think everything is pretty great.
But has anyone gotten any of the bamboo shirts? I notice on darklands they seem cheaper than everything else while on luisaviaroma they are an average ~300. They appear less sheer, is that true? Do the double layer bamboo ones twist in the same way?
ricky has done it again
>>9316937
He's been doing it for a while.
bump for Rick
Bamboo is just a particular kind of viscose. The viscose/silk tends to be a little pilly, but it's stable, and I would suspect the same of the bamboo. Just a cheaper fabrication to penetrate a broader audience and maybe steal back some sales from the second hand market or from copies like T by Wang.
What's the deal with RO sizing?
I'm a UK extra small, I've never seen the '34' being used on UK clothes but according to these I would be that size.
On antonioli UK XS is a 44 in Italian, and on the RO site that's a 46 in Italian (and it even says UK XS is a 36).
Who's sizing do I go by here? Rick's seems to add 2 on everything.
>>9317357
If you live in spitting distance of London just go to a stockist.
Speaking of sizing, are you really supposed to size down on RO outerwear? That for a more "normal" non-tight look or because they literally are just weird and too small? Would love an explanation of this, would like to get a worker jacket and I'm generally a small, and eying one in a medium.
>>9317426
from a womenswear perspective a lot of the stuff is strangely forgiving in terms of sizing, but there's a huge variety in fit oweing to some wildly different dart manipulations.
on the other hand when the sizing is off you are brutally punished, and the measurements can be kind of misleading.
>>9317426
I'd say take TTS. Its how its supposed to fit. On a leather if you had broad shoulders id take a bigger size and get it tailored
>>9317426
size up on the outerwear unless you're a skinny guy. if you're unsure then order from somewhere with a good return policy or try on in person. sizing has been a bit fickle with a number of factory changes.
>>9317357
XXXS ... now I've seen everything
>>9317426
always size down on the leathers,no matter how skinny you are
>>9317520
oops, meant to say size up, so if you want a 48 TTS get a 50
>>9317560
Jean sizing is fucked, just curl into a ball and cry.
>>9317560
not sure about that but if its from drkshdw im sure that you have to go TTS, i unfortunatley dont own a mainline slave jacket
>>9317560
denim jackets? size up. they're very slim, though obviously with quite long arms.
jeans? not the most consistent. typically size down, but your best bet is obviously to just get the measurements.
>>9317576
Depends on the body. The standard fitted ones (Worker, Slave) you can size up, but the new bodies like the Builder and Cold have more room and work well TTS.
>>9317560
jeans are TTS
Thanks for the answers on denim!
>>9317560
Jeans vary depending on the season. I once bought a size 33 since I heard they fit small, but it actually measured 35" across. My other pair is TTS.
>tfw i only own DRKSHDW stuff
i'm saving up for some mainline outerwear, any suggestions?
also great thread guys, Rick threads are always the best on here
>>9317829
2nd person, thanks!
Copping the shoes Rick's wearing here, contacted RO customer service and they said they're coming out sometime early this year in a male specific version (p sure it's spring/summer).
Think it'd be best to size down? I'm worried they'll be baggy at the legs.
>>9317841
Is Rick's hair thinning? Anyways those look great
>>9317882
yeah it has begun to thin. granted he's in his 50s.
>>9317820

>>9317841
Very much looking forward to S/S, those shoes look amazing
>>9317841

>>9317841
what socks does Rick wear?
>>9317972
I've seen him wear various ones, but the socks they make are pretty great.
>>9317918
Is the classic bomber always available? Not him but I'm looking for the most "simple" looking cotton one, Idk if it's Drkshdw or not or if it has a specific name.
>>9317988
The bomber is available in DRKSHDW in rotating fabrics (e.g. waxed poplin, lightweight nylon), but the now standard cotton/nylon version has almost always been available in mainline, but I don't always keep tabs on it.
Suggestions for a leather jacket/bomber, preferably something 'simple' like MA-1?

you should be fine as long as you don't throw in a lot of conflicting color, make the shoes stand out in the fit
tucked linen pants would look good as would basic black jeans with matching brown/tan outerwear
>>9317841
dope fit
>>9318127

Does /fa/ love /fa/un?
I see it as a perfect complement to vicious in the whole sphere of Rick's work (that idea of looking at the same universe from different perspectives) with vicious as the external projection of that dark rebellious aesthetic, which the music and the aggressiveness of the models perfectly emphasised and then faun seems to literally peel away at this external projection revealing this softer, more colourful, compassionate, innocent idea (literal in the sense that I'm drawing this idea from the tunics with peeled away segments that reveal lighter colour, reminiscent of flesh/organs for me when i first watched the show) that kind of perfectly ties in with the Benoit embroideries and this gentle, paternal, loving side of Rick.
I think as a show and looking at the pieces Faun far surpasses Vicious but probably because I love that part of Rick, and don't like seeing it reduced to what it was in Vicious, which to me was almost like a caricature of his work.
Except for one thing, I fucking hated the shoes for Faun and loved the shoes for Vicious
>>9318319
ur seriously putting effort into "discussing" some furfags shrek costumes
i think its time to turn off the pc and go play outside for a bit bud
>>9318319
I like every collection to varying degrees. Unlike other designers who throw it all out and start totally from scratch, you can't appreciate Rick without seeing the shows as a continuum of ideas that are reworked and developed with time and thought.
>>9318343
Thanks for providing that pic I wanted to include it too but chose Rick's rationale instead. Sometimes 4chan is frustrating when you can't link to multiple images. You're a cool guy trunks never change
>>9318319
I'm completely in love with Faun, but I still really like Vicious.
Vicious was playful, I seem to remember Rick saying in an interview that it was an interpretation to a sort of concert going style he was never into but appreciated from afar. The show itself is what really got me into Rick in the first place, and it is very silly. I really liked how WOAH HERE I GO minimal it was, but I guess I can see how you can get "caricature" from that.
But then, you'd totally catch me in that nylon onesie.

What are those assumptions for? I'm the original poster btw, maybe you have some recommendations for less sought after and more easily available leather pieces? Would be greatly appreciated. A general question for any anons: if you had rules for the way you layer shirts, what would they be?
>>9319012
Make sure the undershirt is longer and has shorter sleeves/a lower neckline (you can cut rick shirts freely to ensure this cos of the raw hems), different textures help too I believe. I also don't go with too stark a colour contrast between each layer i.e. I'll go black silkviscose/unstable dust or grey silkviscose/unstable white, that's a personal preference though.
>>9319012
rick tanks/tees are perfect because of how lithe the material is, they're great length too
if you can't afford it, just size up on normal tees but be warned it's not going to look very good, nothing like the layering inspo pics posted all the time
>>9319055
I have a black longsleeve from ss/13 that is very long - any advice on layering or should I just give up?
>>9319331
cut it and wear a longer, preferably unstable cotton t-shirt underneath it
You don't need to layer and it often comes off as incredibly forced when the pieces aren't right for it. It also somewhat requires more constant attention throughout the day to make sure your undershirt is showing or your top shirt hasn't ridden up too much etc. Sometimes it's more effort than it's worth especially if you're so unsure with what you're doing. Just experiment a little with different colours and lengths.
I only do it to break up monotony in some fits where I'm wearing all black top, shorts/sweats/jeans, ramones but often having different textures in your outfit serves the same purpose, though not from afar.
>>9319340
fuck cutting it that's for sissies
wear it long, rick clearly wants you to have a cute dress
>>9319343
Yeah this mentality is why some people, usually teenagers or kids in their early twenties, look retarded in rick and other designers. Because the purchases represent a sizeable portion of their wealth and they're too apprehensive to have the garments altered, and that's probably compounded by the fact some of their pre purchase rationalisation involves resale considerations. Always your clothes (or have them professionally altered) so they fit you. This is the first lesson to learn.
Being too scared to take a pair of fabric scissors to your precious cotton t-shirt is a lot more of a sissy act then wanting your clothes to fit you.
>>9319348
or maybe some people prefer the length. it's one of the special and defining characteristics of rick's basics, if you're just going to chop them down then i wonder why you're buying him at all.
>>9319355
I'm not saying to cut them to the point where they hang at your middrift, it's merely a matter of centimetres so they're not ending at the bottom of your thighs and you can layer longer shirts underneath. If you think that you buy Rick tees for the length please don't ever talk to me about fashion.
>>9319360
*I* buy Rick tees for the length. Quite a lot of them fit perfectly from the factory because I look like the models, but even the bizarrely long ones I love specifically for that elegant, robe like appearance.
So fuck off with this attitude you soggy git.
I thought Rick maiine tees tend to hug, so you can wear them at any length? That's what the double layer one is like at least
>>9319378
They don't really stay at full length as you wear them, and the double layers lose some length from the twist. For the love of god, do not cut a double layer.
>>9319378
You can't generalise the double layer's draping/stacking effect to all of the mainline t-shirts when none of the others are constructed that way. So no, you're wrong. You can twist the shirt to create that effect temporarily with the other t-shirts but it will eventually unfurl and go out to its full length when you're getting around
You can always hike it up and tuck a bit in the waistband of whatever you're wearing.
>>9319389
This was answered, but what I meant was that the hugging would allow you to "place" the bottom of the shirt wherever you would like.

You can tell. Pick them up in person and the different textiles have rough edges and sloppy stitching. The later model seems better, the original manta ray looks worse.
Saw the original as an on sale floor model from self ridges with creasing and it looked like complete shit. Not sure if it was the toe box design or the leather quality.

womens and mens shoes have different sizes a mens 8=! a womans 8
>>9331546
i think all the morons here failed realize that they are all adidas sourced materials and construction
rick only signed his name off on them
then again why am i not surprised
>>9331466
I never really how that looks. I'm not against dickflaps, but they have to have a lot of flap. The little cloth dip peekimg out just looks off to me.
Im more interested in the t -shirt stacking. How the unstable cotton and viscose shirts behave. Now also the bamboo. Someone before was saying tuck and roll, what does that mean?
>>9330281
No don't , get something more interesting like the asymmetrical zip he does
>>9331637
yeah that was me
the racer back wife beaters on their own are fucking great tbt i love feeling like redneck gone goth
i usually wear the longsleeves like i would hypothetically pinroll pants
only on one side
pinch and pull it out at the hip
fold it back against the hip
tuck the excess behind belt
i had other ways of doing it but thats my preferred now
really just shut up and buy some ull figure ur own way to wear urs and what should sit where
unstable cotton is ""ok"" i think they are awful things honestly they stretch so fucking much no matter what size + u end up with monkey arms that fall miles past ur finger tips its stupid
love silk blends
hate the pilling but cold washing helps delay it
sheer cotton is nice too
never bought bamboo
looks sus re:owenscorp 2014 shilling
u have to have a relatively good figure whether ur shredded or cole mohr anorexic
newer season ones are a bit different and dont loosen as fast as they used to nor does the neck loosen into that really nice scoop
dont buy if ur like skinny fat and conscious of it because they will cling to ur bitch hips and fat stomach lmao
>>9331640
Would agree with this if i didn't own the Jason in dust. Seriously so light that you can wear it with a tee in spring/summers more mild days to make a fit more top heavy to balance out his chunky shoes/wide shorts. I get more use out of my dust Jason than my black gimp tbh
>>9331681
Thanks man
Time for the bump

I wonder if they make 47 womens kek
Canvas or leather Ramones? Is the canvas durable?
>>9330004
what do you know about experimenting with fashion? you dont own a single designer piece
>>9334159
You don't have to own designer to experiment.
>>9333962
They're both durable but i prefer the leather, get the ones you like more/can afford.

hahaha fuck
How forgiving is the sizing on the shorts? What's it like up or down a size?
Get a size smaller than you normally wear, this is a safe bet with most items with elastic waistbands since they stretch. Learned the hard way on going tts in prisoner drawstrings that I eventually had to bring in the waist and as a result shorten the draw strings so they're not visible under long ro tees, which I always liked the look of.

they look too generically "fashion hightop" without the toecap, you could tell me they were damir doma and i'd probably believe you.
I think they look good but the toecap is what sells me on Ramones. I'm waiting for glorious Sock Ramones

also, is that a casio & violin stand in the background? Invest in better instruments. I don't have any rick (mostly Siki Im, Yohji, & Issey Miyake), but at least I invest in good equipment. Get like a distortion pedal or synth or something
