I found one of those in a box for getting rid of the other day. It's about 30 years old, pure Scottish wool. It's unbelievably comfy.

I like it... Bought a few fleece lined wool jackets a few days ago.

Regarding sweaters in particular, you pretty much always want them to be some sort of wool / cashmere / alpaca unless you are buying a lightweight sweater to wear in spring/summer with nothing under it. Then cotton is OK.
