Damn, that bedcover!
I really like that sixties/seventies look.
I will also start to dump some of my faves/inspo
Ligne roset Ottoman
dat missing wall in one shelf.
Again, ligne roset, Togo
I WANT THAT!
(Its probably onyl available used and broken, but still)
Also, I want another ligne roset, their pumpkin
when we were kids my dad used to have a full togo set. I don't remember much (I was really young) but he had to dump them because we ruined them by jumping and dicking around.
I am now 26 and as a furniture enthusiast I can only imagine how mad he had to be. Not long ago I got really angry cuz my nephew almost made my noguchi table tumble and push the twitter dome of my bower and wilkins loudpseaker.
Christ, I'd like to have kids one day but the tought of them fucking up my interieur makes me sick.
And a last one, and then I'll stop my ligne roset fetish, otherwise i will probably get accused of shilling.
>when we were kids my dad used to have a full togo set.
Hah, my parent also had a full ligne roset set. Not the togo, but a similar, full foam one. The sofa died 2 years ago, but the chair is still alive, right next to me (though it has been reupholstered, for probably more money than it was worth). It deveoloped an asymetric form since i am always sitting in one corner, so it will probably soon have to be replaced. Fuck that, Its only like 30 years old or something!
But now for something completely different:
I know, IKEA is pleb, and hurrdurr, mainstream, but from the images, I kinda love that thing! I have seen it accused of being a ripoff of >>8697909, but i dont think so. It is kinda similar, but not much.
However I am really worried about its comfort level. Anyone sat on that?
Ikea rips off most design iconics, but there's nothing wrong with it imo. Quality is decent and it looks good. I wouldn't try to emulate their interior designs tho, but they sure have some nice and inexpensive piece of furniture. When you're young and don't want to shell too much it's perfectly okay. And I really like their rice paper standing lamp. I have a very nice nightstand lamp wich really looks like a small noguchi lamp except it cost me 5 euros lel
Vitra again, this time the alcove highback.
They have those at my local mercedes dealer, and they are quite comfortable. Unfortunately, I can really justify spending that much on a single sofa, but still…
Yeah, when you are not overdoing it, some pieces can be included into some nice "fits", e.g. Expedit (they have renamed/redesigne it, i think) and Lack.
Damn. Not waht i wanted to hear. I will have to try for myself, and see if some cushions can change that, but I am afraid that it is indeed not very comfy (besides from its looks. That comfy 70ies urine yellow!).
its not brand name hate for ikea
its that it looks like half decent knock off stuff in the catalog
but in real life it looks bad, it's just wood grainish texture on cardboard, or frosted glass paint on untempered cheap glass panes
everything is so fucking fragile
its not bad for furnishing a dorm room that you can only stay in for 2 years but if you want to live somewhere with that shit....its not going to hold up
And here is a grail piece. Mies van der Rohe barcelona chair.
They are surprisingly comfortable. However they are not unsurprsingly also very expensive.
But due to copyright laws, one can now legally produce "replicas", and those are available for a few hundred €/$. While technically perfectly legal, I am not sure whether i would want to own a replica. But whats original with that chair anyways? Mr. van der Rohe did never produce them himself or own a furniture company. He just sold a license for the design, and now he is dead, so its a totally differen situation from the submariner homages and the dreambaskets that show up here occasionally.
yeah expedit is the shit. I had a second hand expedit shelf (the big one, 185x185) and I used it on my first two studios when I was a student. They were shelves and room divider, it was cosy as fuck.
Kinda expected for 70 bucks. Oh well, I will see.
>but in real life it looks bad,
some stuff does indeed, but a lot does not.
>it's just wood grainish texture on cardboard,
This also rustles my jimmies. If I want wood, then I buy wood. If I cant afford wood, then I will life with solid colors, and those are pulled of quite OK in their expedit series, for example.
Of course, their quality is no match for proper expensive furniture, but compared with other low budget furniture (at least with the other low budget furniture i have seen) Ikea is a league of its own, concering the looks, the built quality and how to put it together.
Now for something completely different.
Movie "flats" that inspire me.
to start, something really obscure, that will probably be rather weird.
00Scheider, Nihil Baxters lair.
I can't appreciate reproductions, (apart from Modernica's Eames line and a very few select others, but that's a given). I'd go so far to say that I only really fancy the real originals such as stuff from Berliner Metallgewerbe Josef Müller but those are nearly unobtainable, hidden away in museums or dusty private collections. Knoll know makes the 'original' and those are indeed rather expensive, easily 10, 20 times as much as a replica.
One of my biggest gripes with replica's is that often there is not a single mention of Rohe, the man who designed it, they are capitalizing on the fruits of his labour, it denies the designer their royalty, the payment for their original idea in Rohe's case it mostly hurts sales of those companies who were granted permission by Rohe and who actually support the several foundations and societies that restore his buildings and legacy, those royalty's that companies such as Vitra and Herman Miller have to pay do make up for a large chunk of the price over a replica but with it they do so much more.
Furthermore most 'reproduction' companies produce their work overseas without any mention of the working conditions, workers' exposure to toxins, use of unethical and environmentally damaging materials and processes, it's a minor thing since very few companies give out such information but those making original designs do and are often on the forefront of being all cosy and environmental.
Also prices used to be better. (Bauhaus, Fiedler)
nigga you could custom-print a reproduction of the comiket exclusive centaur dakimakura for that money
>but compared with other low budget furniture
you argued that it was in the league of knoll, herman miller, and the like.
(noguchi is a designer, not a brand. his table, the one that is used in every frat house/bachelor pad ever was produced by knoll)
its not true
they just look like cheap toys next to even ugly looking kartell shit
Dwell has been showcasing Mid Century mod furniture spattered large sparse living spaces for at least 10 years now.
so 3 of them at least will look similar
DWR is design within reach, it's just a retail outlet for license reproductions and more recently authorized retailers for herman miller, knoll and vitra
there are a few of them in here in socal, but i prefer hunting down originals from the old hollywood getaways out eastward
too many fucks around here go with some low end financing scam that places like living spaces pull
citing "designer furniture" by having faux celebs and faux interior designers (not licensed, bonded or educated) like that one jeff lewis dude who was flipping houses and broke years ago coming in
It's a hipster poser's picture any way, two of those camera's are Polaroid SX70's with fragile rubber bellows that will deteriorate fast if left out in the open in front of a window.
>stocking film on a shelf in front of a window, not in a fridge.
Space Dandy's room is pretty cool.
It's even better in the dark.
could a 25 y/o male pull off this look in their apartment?
you can see it in the bottom right. It's four jesus figures line dancing together. They show more of it in the movie.
bump with bed
I am a sucker for those massive wood beds. But they need to be a bit more refined than >>8695046
That looks either like it is really old wood, or something treated with very very unhealthy, tar based wood preservatives.
also, it probably lacks any innards, such as a proper lath floor.
Damn, wrong pic. That bed is actuylly not very massive.
This one however is.
Not him, but that's what I always do when I'm working, just put on some movie I've seen a thousand times before and glance at it only when my brain gets stuck on something. GitS is great for that because it's slow-paced but short.
I've always wanted to live in a big, empty warehouse-esque studio for me to be a cool hacker+musician in, with everything being super minimal with almost no furniture except a mattress, a kitchen that fits the aesthetic, and weight set.
I'd have my computers and synthesizers lying around everywhere with some distortion pedals and shit. Have a bunch of servers on the back for various purposes.
A big mounted TV, or a giant screen+projector set up to watch my arthouse films and maybe nxtlevel animu stuff too.
Small bar sticking up as a rack for an extremely minimal wardrobe.
Lightbulbs dangling everywhere on extended cords for light.
Am I a faggot?
Tl;dr I want to live in an empty warehouse looking place to be a try-hard faggot nerd who likes "higher" art and computer shit.
I guess that suffices as an answer for "am I a faggot".
Wut does this mean?
>Say hibhibhibhibhib out lout. Its me..laughing.
>And no, I'd like to live in a warehouse too.
Ayyy. It feels like a cool environment, like an open canvas for anything; and whatever I do it feels like it would still fit the overall aesthetic, like a bunch of security cameras, or have an arsenal of a bunch of guns, or nerf guns.
I lift mostly so I can do MMA, and an Octagon ring would totally fit too.
Did what I can at the moment. 410cm x 360cm main room, 225 cm high ceiling.
Lol, they're always just minimalist garbage. Just throw all your shit out, put in some light wood floors and buy a low to the ground bed from ikea. There is no personality in any of them.
>Someone shows a positive view towards a thread and a shitposter shitposts on it
You probably think you're helping
Man that looks like Laguna, I fucking LOVE Laguna beach
Used to be a cheap option, but i think nowadays its trendy (or ist that trend over already?) so its expensive, at least in those districts you would want to leave.
i fucking love this. fuck
how did he get his walls like that, is that wall paper? What an amazing room. Not a big fan of the paintings but the lighting, the walls, the furniture, the book shelf, easel, sewing machine, it's perfect.
there was a recent little mini article (what are those called, like a paragraph with a few pictures) in T that said bulbous, comfy furniture is coming in style - which is interesting considering all the cocoon silhouettes also becoming all the rage.
as for me, i'll stick to that playful elegant mix of japanese and scandinavian.
I wish you were tripping so I could filter you.
>where are you clothes
In a closet or on a rack
>where are your dishes
probably in the fucking kitchen
I wanna print some black and white drawings, something good quality/reasonable size. I don't think grayscale or pictures would work well if not professional print. dumping, starting with oldest
forgot to mention: it's to post on my walls, in case it wasn't obvious.
I love this one, but I'm not sure why. It's hauntingly inspiring, it's peaceful. I just dig it, even though there's nothing there basically.
I really like this as well. Sort of like for a room that I never spend time in except for right before I go to bed and right when I wake up. No TV or anything else to distract me from a peaceful "falling asleep" and that beautiful view.
why would there have to be something in the room? When you're in that room your entire body is there, all the parts and pieces - connected to all of humanity, billions of years of creation, and all your thoughts and hopes and memories are there too, and you're dying, how could you possible add anything compared to that, it would be a drop in the ocean, or a distraction.
I can visualize fucking ur mum but it just isnt as good as actually fucking ur mum n I dont wanna get me floor dirty
>tfw I'll never win the lottery and be able to build my perfect house with rooms just the way I'd like them
I have all my tops, pants and jackets/coats on a closet rack. Then I have (not very /fa/) a small plastic three drawer unit sitting under the shirts that has my socks/underwewar in one drawer, beater/gym clothes in another, and PJ's in the last.
I can't imagine having enough clothes to fill a dresser anymore.
this is nice
really wish i could live with my girlfriend in a small apartment in a beautiful city just living a quaint modern life of working, playing video games, going downtown, hanging around the apartment watching movies on netflix.
seems so fucking comfy. right now me and my girlfriend live separately but even though we're both old enough to live together her parents wouldn't let her move out with a guy unless we were married. It sucks that just living your life peacefully would result in your relatives you love resenting you and judging you. I want to marry her eventually it's just I just want to live, no bullshit, just live. Sometimes I wish we both didn't have a family.
nah, white. her family is just religious and doesn't believe in moving out of the house before marriage. her brother moved in with his girlfriend (at the time) and they were pretty upset about it, even though he's a guy. not to mention they wouldn't approve of living in an apartment.
I just wanna live quietly somewhere bright and sunny
I have no idea dude. They just don't want us to get married until we're financially stable which means living in a house. It sounds ridiculous right. Even if it's a tiny shitty house it just can't be an apartment. I hate this whole marriage/house thing it just slows down everything.
saying this out loud makes me sound like such a fucking pussy I seriously wish I didn't care about what either of our family thought and we just said fuck them but I hate when I go to family gatherings and the focus is on me and my problems or when people are quiet around me and don't like me or anything. I know if we just pulled the trigger and did what we want, eventually everybody will forget about it when we're old and married and we'll be liked but I don't want to go through the 4 years of being judged and hated. fuck
does minimalism count if you just jam all your shit in a basement or another room or the closet? Psychologically it is all still there, for better or worse, but aesthetically it doesn't exist.
Visually pleasing, but... That bedroom is awfully planned in terms of acoustics, in fact it's so atrocious I just saved it as an example of how retarded "room designers" can be. It's nextlvl idiocy to have a room meant for sleep designed for visual as you have your fucking eyes shut (lets not forget you are more sensitive to sound when sleeåing, too).
Narrow parallel "hard" walls, panorama glass window, no absorbers/diffusors (except for fabric) and the bed on the fucking floor? Fuck sake you'll probably already have sleeping problems as is after getting charged some ridiculous amount for having that room made/designed.
sleeping on the floor is actually better for your back than you think. I do it all the time when I visit my friends at college. I just wish there wasn't the social stigma of having a bed or I'd do it at my own place
Narrow parallel hard walls = no absorption + full reflection of sound-fronts = standing waves = strong modes = ambient sound will be increased for some frequencies = stressful
Glass window = sometimes awful acoustic properties = more ambient sound in room
Bed on floor next to a wall = you've got your head/ears inside the second strongest mode (after the corner) in the room and most frequencies are amplified.
You can easily confirm this yourself if you've got a "boxy" room: Stand in the corner and then stand in the center of the room and listen/compare the ambient sound.
The actual properties that makes a good room can get difficult to explain.. One simple way of trying to treat a "bad" room is to stuff it up with natural diffusors and absorbers, like a bookshelf, couch.. Anything that obstructs the simple geometry of a boxlike room will help. The position of your bed should preferably not be inside a corner or at the floor.
If there is a lot of ambience and you have a shitty window you are basically fucked though. Same goes if you have paper walls and hear your neighbours. Not that much you could do about that without spending a lot of money I guess.
Let me add to that, another simple method is having a thick rug/fabric on the floor and maybe the wall(s). Add to that like a fat armchair in the corner and you have a decent room...
What's wrong with me? Nothing. But you're an asinine idiot if you actually think ambient noise does not affect people.
There are several studies showing that sleeping in a noisy environment is detrimental to health. Even if you can sleep fast, you'll sleep uneasy and won't get the most of it. Some people may think they sleep bad for a number of reasons like food, work related stress, etc and would never think of sound as the source.
I don't really care to expand this further. Believe what you will
What is it with all you /fa/ggots and wanting to live in cities?
I've never lived in a city and I never want to.
Same here man. I'm going to live cheaply on the country side in Japan for a semester as an exchange student, majoring in media engineering. Basically what you do, but for artists who want to earn money for a living without, in one way or another haha
Super frustrating because I always contemplate re-doing my whole wardrobe because I stick out so much in urban areas wearing "folk" like stuff.. haha
Good luck with your media engineering though.
