Houses aren't really expensive. It's the land it's on that determines it's price. If your goal is to have a house like these it's achievable even with a normal middle class salary depending obviously on where you buy the lot.

having an effay house in a shithole is not effay

If that's what you think I feel bad for you. But, it doesn't have to be a shit hole. It just has to be out of the normal areas. Developing neighborhoods, newly zoned buildings, proposed developments, etc. Real estate investors exist for a raisin they prospect the same things we can. Time to accept that being in downtown doesn't mean you are somebody or part of anything and embrace suburban life.

That clash of (what looks like) concrete and greenery is the kind of thing I've always loved. The industrial parks here in some of the more affluent parts of CA hit that note really well I feel.

You have to visit the Barbican Estate. Entering through its brut concrete ramps and walking between the grey shadows cast by the proud columns that line its innumerable high walkways, you come expecting a dreary apartment estate- but you hear soon the sound of trickling water and children's laughter, and lo! in the centre of the labyrinthine corridors sits a core of green, a lake with a waterfall and an ancient church lies on the ground floor, encircled by parks, the library, museum and the Arts centre with its lively events schedule.
Truly an understated masterpiece which you have to experience in person.
>>8407911
It did just that. It became a popular style focusing on design, craft, and functional beauty that has endured to this day. The only delusion is you implying that the movement sought the complete cessation of industrial progress.

This looks like a screencap of some deep art film. Just this room intercut with shots of a crying baby and some ominous music in the background, then in the next scene a guy kills a goat with a hammer and it was all a metaphor for becoming an adult or something.

I like stuff inspired by soviet brutalist architecture
>>8408610
that structural beam is so blatant
architecture is art, and engineering
that beam represents engineering at it's least inspired, it defies the ergonomics of the room and provides nothing.
if there's anything wrong with that room, it is that fucking beam. if you can finance it's removal, do so, if not, try to alter it's aesthetic form, and if you can't do that, you'll have to add something else to the room for juxtaposition.
aside from that, it's a white room with a gleamingly industrial floor. can you work with that industrial feel, or can you contrast it with a warm rug? you have to do something. the way the mood light reflects the shape of the TV onto it is garish.
the legs of your chairs are wooden, there's rustic in that. you can do a rustic/industrial mashup, easy to do but hard to do well, but to the non-discerning eye it'll look nice in any case.

>>8407168
Lille.
>>8414767
Thanks for the insightful feedback. The beam also bugs me, but can't do anything about it as i am renting this place. Changing its form might be a good idea. As for adding warmth, i'm adding a big coach in there and probably a fuzzy rug.
