Discussion on which modern day clothing would still fill the Post Punk / New Wave clothing style, Attempting to give a change to my wardrobe.
Would Doc Martens be considered part of this style?

>>10954477
stop posting the same meme band over and over
>>10954459
what compels you to shitpost in this thread, of all places? did a girl dressed in this fashion beat you up or something? I mean we rarely have these threads, they're totally innocent. what is your problem
>>10954562
tbqf those pictures is what post punk looks like in 2016, the whole thing with being dressed in really flashy clothing died quite fast and was overtaken by conservative clothing as a reaction against regular punk
>>10954562
i just hate trashy pseudo-goths and prefer bands that look like people who bullied said people in high school
alright last one then you can keep posting your clowns
You all not only have shit taste in fashion, but music as well
This pic again.

>>10954573
ok, sure. but this is a fashion thread. on a fashion board. you massive retard. this thread isn't "bands who make vaguely post-punk inspired music but dress like your normal everyday lad". read the thread title again, dipshit
>>10953926
>>10954341
>tumblrina
Jfc kids. Is everything you say on here just parroting buzzwords?
>>10954842
>wahhh they insulted my shoes
>>10954872
I don't wear them, actually. I also make up my own opinion instead of just repeating what I've read on 4chan lol.
>>10954878
nice projecting
>parroting buzzwords
yeah I'm sure that was your own opinion and not some kneejerk response you picked up on 4chan to use when someone disagrees with your opinion
>>10954908
Did I use any common meme phrases? Nope. Try again, sport.
>>10954952
>common meme phrases
yes, "parroting buzzwords"
that's the point I was making, if you weren't too braindead to understand
>>10955012
>get called out for buzzwording
>BETTER BUZZWORD SOME MORE
>>10953957

>>10955051
>>10955068
Bitch you got blasted for saying "tumblrina." Nice work trying to doge that fact lol. I bet you say "cuck" in real life, too, huh?
>>10954825
i agree that this is a fashion board and fashion is separate from music. I would argue however that post punk is a form of subculture which has different forms and the modern appearance of this subculture is based on conservative and skinhead/casual looks.
I'd be happy if both sides were represented since this thread wasn't posted as "early 80's goth inspo"
>>10955079
literally too dumb to argue with
>>10954593
this
>>10955090
>gets proven wrong
>NUH UH YOU'RE THE WRONG ONE
K. Later, boy.
>>10954573
also this because it looks good
>>10954825
yeah but modern post punk look is best and when you want to look like>>10953534
you should consider suicide man
>>10954573
you have no idea what you're talking about, post-punk was never about flashy clothing. at most there were some bands with leftover punk style, leather jackets and the like
>>10955084
again this
>>10955120
see
>>10955128
all the other pictures posted fall into the "New Wave / Goth" category, and if you had read the OP you'd know that was part of the thread too
now my question is, why you are in a post-punk thread if you clearly have no idea about it?
>>10955128
stfu
>>10955128
Yeah that's what i meant, was referring to the early bands like siouxsie and the banshees and the lot which later became known as goth music. Some of the early bands still had a bit of a punk aesthetic left that died once the movement really started
I actually got my inspo from post-punk and early goth rock styles, which made me end up going for a "minimalist" style where I mainly just wear slim black jeans and fitted black t-shirts with whatever jacket I decide to wear and thrift shop dress boots.
OP here, honestly I'm trying to go for a Robert Smith, Siouxsie Sioux type style, just thought I should clear the air, May have misplaced words for the title..
>>10955378
Learn how to tease your hair. They still sell Aquanet.
Alright so back to the fashion, What kind of clothes are we trying to find, I suppose if you want a Robert Smith look, if you want loose fit stuff I would suggest sizing up, I think others could supply more help then myself.
>>10955378
the term post punk has a tendency to get people riled up.
I'm trying to think how a modern Robert Smith would look, might wanna get a bit less huge hairdo since Robert lived in the 80's when all hair was huge so it wasn't as weird, also oversized Ts and dress shirts are a must
Should we also post modern hairstyles to go with this?
>>10953989
Robert Palmer girls are the best girls
>>10955428
>the term post-punk has a tendency to get people riled up.
Why? What's wrong with post punk?
>>10955841
nothing wrong with it but there's always the debate of skinhead/casual VS goth look
>>10956108
Nothing wrong with national socialism inspired style tbqh familiae
>>10956108
Casual > goth
>>10956108
that's why this thread is retarded.
skinhead is skinhead. goth is goth. neither are post-punk
>>10955078
This is lovely, I love glam punk.
I really want to crimp my hair
>>10956145
Goth was born from post-punk, so your statement there is objectively false.
>>10956256
in terms of music, you're right (mostly. goth developed alongside post-punk, not directly FROM it)
I was talking about fashion styles. if you're going to post goth, you'd specifically say "goth" not post-punk. no one would know what you're talking about
>>10956267
Joy Division was both a pioneer of post-punk and the first band to be branded as "goth". First wave goth was a brand of post-punk. This is not an opinion...It's historical fact.

This beautiful man.

I was posting that picture ironically though that's not one of his best fits IMO
>>10956283
Lmao by 1979 post punk was already a thing, Joy Division didnt pioneer shit (they did create a very unique sound though)
Also, The Cure and Siouxsie were also already a thing by 1979 and probably already labeled goth
>>10956145
modern post punk looks aren't just skinhead but it's heavily inspired by skinhead style
Hate to use this clicheed image but it shows quite well what moden post punk dress is.

>>10953926
>>10954341
underaged? Doc Martens have long been associated with punk/post-punk/goth way before tumblr
>>10958431
so? associations can change. fedoras used to be associated with detectives, and just fashionable men in general.
>>10958418
that doesn't make it any more relevant, why the fuck would you think to post teddy boys in this thread?
>>10958959
Because teddy boy style undeniably influenced post-punk style, sans the hairdo's.
>>10956127
MAKE THIS GUY STOP!
>>10958972
this, a modern post punk look is exactly that
