lel i'm literally turning skelly after cutting dairy and grains out of my diet because of acne

Why are there two moisturizers on here? That's kinda unneeded. Also eye cream goes on /before/ moisturizer, and change the physical exfoliant for a chemical one.

Why grains?
>>
>>10947078
i heard they cause it, probably broscience, but i noticed when i was eating lots of bread and oats my skin got worse
>>

I just switched from vegetarian to vegan and my skin already clears up.
But it never crossed my mind to stop eating grains. Really sounds like broscience

You might as well only smoke cigs at this point

Fruit has sugar in it that kills teeth and veggies give you cancer as does grains

Anyone have experience with dermabrasion/microdermabrasion?

I used to have bad acne and picked them now I have scars on my face that haven't gone away for 3-5 years

Would this procedure help? I've seen mixed reviews so far and it can be costly (300/session) for it.
>>
#6 is just unnecessary, and if you use #3 every day, you're going to have some SERIOUS problems. You're not supposed to exfoliate everyday, it fucks up your skin.
Use that once or twice a month, that's all you need.

Also, why would you use lotion BEFORE using a deep exfoliating scrub in the shower?

Switch those two up.

And make sure to get plenty of water.
>>
>>10947544
Nip+Fab seems like a really great brand.

I recommend lifevantage, they make an amazing skin cream, though their company is a bit pyramid-schemy
>>
>>10947876
It's fucking amazing for acne/scaring, can't say bad about it.

What's a good sunscreen that doesn't stain and is "waterproof"?

How often should I exfoliate /fa/?
I've got this shit that I use in the shower 2-3 days a week but I don't know if this is too much or not.
Also Moisturise every day.

I apply some of it every time i will meet anyone who's not a close friend of mine, if i have a really red pimple.

I don't give a fuck about what is considered "gay" and what is not. Foundation makes me look better? Foundation it is then.

Depends on which moisturiser you use. There are good cheap ones like Cetaphil or CeraVe.

Not if you use a proper shaving cream (not chemical gillete foam mixture)(I like to use Windsor) and apply a nice after balm like nivea for sensitive skin
>>
>>10951400
That is extremely coarse, you will get a ton of microtears in sentive areas such as your face and neck, only use this as a body exfoliant (avoid the genital region) use something softer for your face; I like to use lucky tiger exfoliator.

Use a chemical exfoliant on your face. Take a look at this: https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/exfoliation_recs (Yeah, Reddit, but that subreddit has some good info).

>>
>>10949439
Does it hurt?

How does the process go?
>>
>>10947540
Why eat anything at all at this point?
>>
>>10951853
So the ones I've had are medical microderms at a skin clinic, I had steam microdermabrasions. You might not have a steam microderm, but the difference is that they pour steam over you got a bit to soften your skin. After that it's basically like a stronger exfoliation with a device that sucks off a layer of your skin.

It can hurt a bit, especially if you have active acne, but nowhere near the pain of getting a tattoo. If you have active acne, afterwards with my medical ones they extract (squeeze) the acne cysts to get all the shit out of them so they'll heal.

/fa/ I know nothing about skincare, but I feel like my skin is abnormally oily. Should I just stop eating so many hamburgers & greasy foods or is there a skincare component to this?
>>
>>10953837
Not eating greasy food is a skincare component.
Food/diet has one of the largest impacts on your, nothing really trumps hormones/genetics for affecting skin though so it might not be so simple.
Cut out the shit food for a few weeks, note any difference, come back to us if it hasn't improved.
No point jumping on expensive products if your only problem is bad eating habits.
>>
>>10947053
Yeah cutting grains helps, especially bread and the like. Lots of sugar in those. Oats are fine though. I lost a good 15 lbs over 2 months once simply by cutting them out of my diet, and I was skinny.

Sunscreen erryday. Apply every morning to all sun-visible skin. Reapply every 2 hours if you're paranoid, every 6 if you don't sweat like fuck. Moisturizer every night, after washing with a basic wash (anything from Neutrogena, CeraVe, etc labeled "gentle wash" or whatever BS). Apply 2 layers an hour apart (once after wash, once immediately before sleep) if you're paranoid.
>>
>>10954369
Also for facial hair, make sure to condition it. Ever shower, put some conditioner on and leave it on for about 1-5 minutes, then rinse. Don't use shampoo on it, it won't contribute to cleanliness at all; it'll just make them drier than pubes.

>>
>>10954784
Toner balances pH levels to manageable levels which cleansers fuck up as exfoliants are acidic. Exfoliation removes old skin from your face.

Vaseline is optional and simply "seals your pores" and prevents moisture from going out which is good during sleep.

>>10954765
Those kind of thinga will hurt your skin and cause microtears. If you want to heal acne scars, just leave them be and use sunscreen to let them heal over time.

For effective scar treatment, see a dermatologist (and not an aesthetician). You'll be able to pick from various ablative treatments to even out the skin. Laser is good.

As for filaments, know that they are very common and not always as noticeable as people think. Salicylic acid, as well as various AHA's, can help lighten them. Takes a couple of weeks to see the difference.

Veganism decreases the intake of dairy products, and generally also the intake of foods with a high GI load. This affects the hormone levels of DHT as well as IGF-1 which have both been shown to contribute to acne issues.

Just something that I thought I would share with you guys that you might have read about on the web but didn't know if it worked.

I don't get bad acne anymore but when I did get it something that I found really helpful was before going to bed getting an ice cube and holding it down over the worse pimples for as long as you can manage. Usually I would do it after I had washed my face, you literally just press it down onto the skin without moving it for 3 or 4 minutes at time. Whenever I had any pimples that felt really red or felt swollen or sensitive I would do that and almost always there would be a significant decrease in their size and redness the next morning. It won't fix your acne on its own but when used after night-time washing with acne products it can really help.

Let me tell you a secret.
I completely dropped that acne shit the day I started swimming.
Just look up swimmers with acne on google : nothing shows up. The massive amount of fatdigging from the exercising and temperature stabilizing combined with the fact that your sweat is instantly cleaned away by chlorine or salt reinforced water means that your body tells your pores to drop that sebum and tighten the fuck up. Your skin grain becomes k-pop singer-tier.
Pic related is probably the most acne Michael Phelps' mirror ever witnessed.
I'm convinced that you could scientifically prove that acne is an evolutionary indicator of a non-swimming individual which is why no human ever thought that pimples were pretty. Acne in a girl's mind means :
>No regular access to water
>dehydrated
>no fish in the next dish
>not ever putting his dick in my babymaker
>>

Morning:
1. CeraVe hydrating cleanser
2. Eucerin oatmeal lotion
3. Facial sunscreen

Night
1. CeraVe hydrating cleanser
2. Strydex maximum wipes

I don't use shaving cream, actually. Just do it in the shower. Keeps your razor and face cleaner; and for acne-prone people, prevents breakouts from the cream.

Is there any actual benefit to using shaving cream? Or is it just BS? Because I don't get any more or less cuts with or without shaving cream, and my face breaks out when I use the cream. What gives?

As for the red around your chin, though, just moisturize that shit, m8.

Basic bitch Benzyol Peroxide and Salycilic acid should work (assuming I'm spelling those right).

Put on Salycilic Acid (generic shit is just as good, if not better, than any fancy shit) once every 2-3 days at night. Every night, put on 2 or 5% benzyol peroxide (after the acid), and then moisturize the fuck outta your face. CeraVe or whatever's labeled 'facial lotion.'

Then sunscreen every day. Can't emphasize this enough. Apply in the morning, then once every 2-6 hours (depending on activity level/time in sun).

When you say chemical exfoliant would those stridex acne pads count? I've been doing pretty much the exact routine you posted except i've been using the pads every night, is that too much? I also put 99% aloe gel all over before I sleep and after I put toner (witch hazel)/exfoliate/lotion

thanks man

Dumb question, but what exactly does sunscreen do besides the obvious anti-sunburn? What's the benefit for applying every morning after toner, lotion, etc. even if you live in a cloudy place (PNW)

I read the skincare pasta and it seems to be any sort of sunscreen as long as it is 30+SPF with UVA protection.
>>
>>10961639
read the sticky or something. just basically am: cleanser/toner/moisturizer/sunscreen (constant reapplication) and pm: cleanser/toner/exfoliate (every 2-3 days)/moisturizer. benzoyl can be added at pm on days when you dont exfoliate.

So should I cut back on the stridex pads to maybe every other day? I haven't really been experiencing dryness doing it everyday, but if it's harming my skin and not helping acne I won't.
>>
>>10964433
i just think that doing it everday is unnecessary and you need your skin to grow (not exactly sure about this part)

I while ago I started to break out with basic pimples and the occasional cystic. I bought Neutrogena ultra gentle daily wash and used lubriderm 3 in 1 face and bodh moisturizer since I already had it.

After using it for a while, I kept getting cystic acne on my forehead and it was killing my confidence. Ive never had this happen to me before. I stopped the cleanser and moisturizer, and a week or two later I now have three cystic pimples on my forehead after the last two went away. I'm getting really pissed off.

I eat really well, especially compared to everyone around me. Never drink pop, only a little bit of milk, lots of fruits and vegtables, I've increased my water intake, I take a fish oil pill and 6000 IU's of vitamin D a day (Since I work night shifts), I only eat whole wheat and I drink lots of green tea. I even cut out coffee (A d that seemed to make it worse). If I have to eat any healthier I'd rather just kill myself.

I have an oily forehead but even using the ultra gentle cleanser make it feel kind of tight (I ways use face moistuirzer after). I tried just using water in the shower and that feel like it gets most of the oil off. No matter how much I read it seems like everyone has a different reason for acne appearing and it's demoralizing. Apparently cystic acne appears from too much male hormones?

I most just want to leave it alone so it clears up on its own, but I have no idea what to do. I'm doing to see a derm but it may be a while until then. Should I get an oily skin cleanser (Not a combination cleanser) for my forehead? I dont get pimples anywhere else. How much tightness should be felt after washing? Will benzoyl peroxide save me? I cant tell if my skin is too dry/dehydrated or too oily

I tried one for like 3 months. Didn't see a big improvement.
It could be bad for your skin, it could give you microtears and stuff. Read up the thread.
How's your skin?

I've tried a lot of harsh stuff and I've recently discovered that less and gentle is much better, my skin routine is simpler now (aha, bha, vit c serum, gentle cleanser, cerave moisturizer, sunscreen) and my skin is looking good.

My skin was like this btw:
>>10966104
What's your routine?
I'd recommend Stridex Max to stop the acne, and vitamin c serum for the red spots.

I have a dry skin except for my nose which is full of blackheads (or sebaceous filaments idk). Especially my forehead is very dry. I have no acne. What would be a good routine for this?
>>
>>10966470
A gentle hydrating facial cleanser for the dry skin, never had blackheads so can't help you there.

I know reddit is generally trash but the "skincare addiction" subreddit is good and theres a sidebar section all about blackheads I believe.
>>
Literally get accutane, shit clears up your skin so well its unbelievable. Keep up with your doctors appointments tho, if you end it to early your acne will come back again but otherwise you will have 100% smooth and perfect skin.

Do you really need to moisturize if your face is already naturally oily?

I've been doing the cerave lotion in the morning and by lunch I feel like my face is greasy like didn't even wash it in the morning.
>>
>>10964996
BP will definitely help. Use 2.5% on your forehead, once a week at first, see if that helps. Also more sunscreen.
>>
>>10966470
Get some Salycilic Acid (generic brand will do). Put on nose. Rinse nose. Repeat nightly until no more blackheads.
>>
>>10968073
Yes. Sunscreen more than moisturize, though; just sunscreen every morning, and then every few hours. Also Salicylic Acid might help with keeping the oiliness down.

How do I get rid of whiteheads? I get a lot on my cheeks and temple for some reason. Also what about red marks left from acne? I feel like they've been on my face for months and should be gone by now. Also how often do I exfoliate? I did it pretty frequently for a time, but I think it actually caused my skin to worsen.

How to i make white heads go way without popping them? Just wait?
>>
>>10972156
to pop whiteheads without them leaving a huge red circle on your face put super hot water on the very corner of a towel and then gently just rub it in a circular motion over the whitehead, be extremely gentle and it'll just kind of rub off.

Remember to wash the shit out of your face after

you'd want to poke the whitehead on its side parallel to your skin then pull up. after that, disinfect with a cotton ball and alcohol then apply hydrocolloid bandages overnight. see pic related

for red marks, dont use hot water and place a cold towel on your face first thing in the morning. vitamin c serum and time are the main 2 things that helps

(the products she makes me use are because i have dry skin none of them are for spots)

Don't use physical exfoliators. I used Fresh Farmacy and Tea Tree Water years ago and liked it and I generally like Lush but can't say much on their other skin care.

I use Clinique but idk what your budget is.

what exactly are the benefits of eye balm? Is there a need for it if I already use a cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen and exfoliant?
Also, what can I do about pimples and red dots and stuff on my back? It's nothing bad, but I still get them relatively frequently near my shoulders.

True, I used to use it too and if you stop using it for a couple of days your skin almost goes into "withdrawal" and gets mad dry.

I use pure jojoba oil now and it's GOAT, cheap and you hardly need any at all. It's slightly more acidic than skin though so i only use it every second day. It makes a really good shave oil too.
