POST 'EM HERE YOU DUMBFUCKS
Just got this Soviet Raketa 24h with world time rotating bezel, effay enough?
thats pretty dope
i always liked these too even though i have the legit casio version:
OP here again, I have an Elektronika 5 too.
Got pretty obsessed with Soviet watches for the last two years and now got a lot Slavshit in my watch box kek.
Nice one m8, how much did you pay?
This is now officially a slav shit thread, here's my Slava day-date. I'm selling it if anyone's interested.
casio tgw? thouhgts? I would put brown a nato on it
Are Rolexes /fa/?
Just got gifted an old submariner, but I'm only 20.
It looks pretty fucking good, though, can I wear it to my minimum-wage call center job?
Here is my Black Sub C its my daily.
Hope you wear it in good health!
Is yours in good condition?, What reference?, Do you have a picture by any chance?
Thank you, it's pretty beat up - you can see lots of scratches on the aluminum bezel, some deep gouges on the bezel and oyster bracelet. Still, it's basically the first nice watch I've ever gotten.
I'm very pleased that it's the older sort of Submariner, actually, the crown guards are about half as thick as you can see in the picture.
Still looking for more advice about NATO straps and possibly removing the cyclops, I hear the latter is heresy for Rolexes.
Nice Sub! Love the Holes Case probably either a 16800 or early 16610! I wouldn't remove the cyclops! If you do not want one but still want a date get a Sea-Dweller or if you prefer no date then a 114060 would be perfect and it would be ceramic and have glide lock etc. Has it ever been serviced? If it has not I would go to your nearest AD or service center and send it in ASAP! Rolex always calls about price before they ever work on the watch. It will come back all minty and running like a champ. As far as a strap change the sky's the limit! 20 MM lug width everyone makes straps for these things!. Good luck!
She's owned watches with mesh bands in the past, so considering buying her the silver version of this.
What do you think of the Omega Speedmaster?
Went to the moon which is not something many watch models have done
I'm looking to get either one of these. Slightly leaning towards hammy.
I got this one. Its pretty cool and not that expensive considering the craftmansship and sick dial
Been lusting after a vostok scuba dude
Other vostok watches are cool too check em out on ebay. Really cheap
>comparing a Swatch Group marketing name to Grand Seiko
Just be quiet. Swatch group legally minimally assembled in Switzerland garbage isn't fit to mentioned in the same breath as Grand Seiko, you horological pleb.
I was thinking of getting my first watch and the Seiko SKX009 seems perfect, quality/looks/price wise. Just worried about the 42mm size with my tiny 6.3" wrist size.
i want to say black submariner is one of the only few rolex designs i really like
but i would never want to get a homage or shit like that
also next future purchase in pic
Got for a solid price as a starter, hopefully within the year I'll be copping a Stowa or a Junkers.
I don't, but as long as the month has the correct number of days it's okay, I know which month it is.
Also I might do a little memory exercise and learn the months in russian just because
Heres mine. U-boat flightdeck on a fossil strap (I have tiny wrists so I need it on a bund strap). and a ceramic panerai
Just look on eBay for the following Soviet/Russian brands: Poljot, Raketa, Pobeda, Vostok, Chaika, Luch, Slava...
There are lots of different styles with a lot of history and incredibly good movements for a really cheap price. OP's watch is a really special model because it has a unique 24 hour movement, as you can see the dial has 24 indexes instead of 12, this watch was designed for Arctic explorers or submarine crew that couldn't really tell if it's am or pm in their environments.
I'm not home to see it in person, but my Big Zero finally arrived and I have a photo of it. How did I do?
I'm pretty sure both of the straps that came with it are probably going to be garbage, so what should I replace them with? I think the brown leather with white stitching actually looks pretty good so I might just get something that looks exactly like that but from Hirsch or Crown and Buckle. I'm open to other suggestions, though. Maybe some sort of two-piece cloth strap in brown or olive green?
Rolexes are boring, but also pretty /fa/, as long as your not wearing a two tone datejust like some geriatric, balding, ex used car salesman.
I got an explorer ii when I was 22. Fact of the matter is, very few people are into watches and will actually notice. Wear it, get it pressure tested every year, and get it serviced every five years.
>He doesn't like the egg-watch, the one and only watch actually designed to fit the human wrist.
Enjoy your round watches, pleb.
NATO straps on 40mm oysters look like dogshit IMO. Leave the bracelet, and leave the cyclops. You're just gonna kill the resale value if you have it removed, and make it harder for yourself to read the date.
I've also got this watch which I absolutely love, even though its a citizen subsidiary brand (Independent is just in Japan)
>mineral instead of acrylic for vintage appeal or sapphire for utility
>hands painted blue rather than heat blued
>hands too small
It's like a solid 7-8/10 on its own merits. 9.5/10 given how cheap it is and how many more expensive watches it puts to shame.
the whole orient bambino range is way too big
they cant even be called dress watches
pic related is what theyre trying to rip off for example
I might pick up this one instead first. I'm torn; the Speedmaster would be a better "daily" to wear, while the Seamaster would be perfect for business attire I have to deal with 1 week a month when I have to show my face in the office.
Well honestly you could wear a speedy at most workplaces and anywhere else too, but dress watches are just so nice. Are you thinking black dial stainless case seamaster like the earlier post, or what?
I want to find a similar watch, how much will i have to spend to get that quality? Is ebay the best place to get an old russian watch? I'm in Canada so our shipping is gonna suck
I paid 30€ for it, one of the best watch bargains you can get on eBay, you just need to be lucky and find a model in good condition.
I love how slim and simple it looks and the movement is god tier, incredibly accurate. It sounds really nice and the fact the dial says "Made in USSR" adds a really cool history factor. Here's a better picture, I'm wearing it right now.
pulled the trigger on this for 300€ on ebay.
couldn't handle watchless life anymore, and it looks sweet
First time posting on /fa/'s watch thread.
Seems to be a lot slower in comparison to /g/.
mirin' those quints senpai
>How quickly do you get called over on your dogshit here?
if you have a fashion watch or some markted "luxury minimalist watch" that charges $300 for a $10 chinese movement, pretty fast
Being one that jump started a couple of memes there i could say it's more or less right.
Then again i don't really follow the hivemind in most cases (Didn't fall for the Penisquartz and Bagel memes), i just buy what i like.
Super slow thread though. Are all the Americans still asleep?
Nah I picked it up off a guy called 10amagri. It shipped from the Ukraine but got here (The UK) pretty quick. Everything seems original as far as I can tell apart from the straps, haven't looked inside though.
I prefer white personally but black does go for cheaper so you should get a better deal, good luck.
Olive and black NATO looks good on mine, as does black leather. I think the face is good enough to fit most straps.
anyone want closeups?
50% are fancy, 50% are cheap as dirt (but I still wear them, ironically or just casually)
sold the black jaeger last week and probably gonna sell the constellation soon
the more watches I see/own, the more I'm convinced you only need 3
Beater: cheap russian or neutral Hamilton Khaki-esque
Dress: anything dressy
anything more is overkill and you will be neglecting most of your watches as a result
>Align year (or calendar equivalent year) with the current month on the bottom half
>Top half tells you which dates correspond to which days in that month
>watch is upside down
Sure, it's technically Soviet, but the dial is completely fake to upsell to dumb tourist-types like you.
>not a Marlin
thoughts on this Casio?
do you think the bezel makes it look like a watch only old men would wear?
only other thing I'm worried about is the size of this crown because I'm left-handed and wear watches on my right wrist so I don't want that crown to be huge and cut into my arm or something.
I'm generally not a big fan of fluted or engine turned bezels but that one actually looks pretty subdued and nice. I think it's actually pretty nice and I assume it's cheap too but it doesn't look super cheap and plasticky like a lot of Casios.
I have the tiniest and most skelly wrists in town.
Inherited this from my grandfather. It's 18k gold so I don't wear it every day but... You can probably cop one for a few hundred £. The face of the clock is only 3cm, and it's really slim.
Definitely do not remove the cyclops, you will never ever be able to resell it properly. I think NATOs look fine desu, and you could keep the bracelet from further damage.
A few scratches make the watch look tough, with a history behind. Remove the bracelet and the Cyclops and you turn a piece of art into a new rich piece of shot, like a rapper with a watch full of counterfeit diamonds. Keep the watch as it is, believe me.
thanks for the input, anon.
I think about getting it. yeah, it's cheap and looks good. it's only 40 bucks anyway. the only thing I don't like that much is that the case is apparently made out of brass (which I don't like as much as steel or titanium) but the caseback is stainless steel at least. so I don't know if brass become disgusting or corroded or something due to sweat or whatever acids.
ITS GOT TO FUCKING HURT U CUNTS
My father gave me this as a graduation gift
Don't know much about watches, but I got this for my 21st birthday this year. I couldn't even find it on their site, so I have no idea where my grandfather found it.
i feel like that brand is unknown enough that it doesn't make too much sense for people to lie about having it to seem rich - since majority of people won't even know it's an expensive watch
plenty is wrong.
>only has resin case with chrome plating
>the older ones have shitty lights and no EL backlighting.
>no mineral glass, only plastic so it gets scratches pretty easily.
I'd only look at G-shock and their newer models like the poptone ones (although they are also pretty ugly but whatever)
cop or not?
it's like €185 and i love the braun design
Amazon reviews says the quality is meh tho
That bezel on the sapphire version looks absolutely fucking disgusting, get the acrylic one. Also make sure it's 38mm and not 42mm. I had one for a few months, it was a pretty nice little watch.
Sorry for the shitty photo, on an iphone and my hand's shaky, but here's proof since you seem to want it
what can you fags tell me about the brand Branzi, my mother gave me one that was from my grandpa, the battery died out and i dont know much about watches but it looks nice, like >>10909958 but with art deco numbers
Jayb00se KREESTO m11, dat 1 fugles-azz replicunt.
There are good ones in the $150 range via RepGeek, etc. but d00t wtf iddat $15 Canal St. POS
the looks aren't the problem.
the loud ticking is. not a fan of black dials either but it's a taste thing. at least it has indiglo but a date window wouldn't hurt. case looks simple and nice but that strap probably sucks. leather > nato strap.
>ugh its loud?
very. Timex watches unless it's chronographs and digitals are fucking ticking loudly and it's annoying. same thing with swatches.
if you like the strap you could still find any other watch you like and just buy an additional black nato strap and put that on instead. it's a good strap investment anyways and goes with everything if you buy a few more watches in the future.
>it's only 40 bucks anyway
I think it looks pretty good for that money. Actually it looks very much like SARB035.
I'm looking to buy a new watch but can't choose between a Seiko SARX013 and SARB035. Opinions?
probably gonna cop it soon.
there are also versions with numerals and with a black dial too but I like that one.
SARB looks good in black or white but I think the white SARX looks awful, the black one is so much better. They're both good watches though. Get the SARB if you want something very low-key or the SARX if you want something a bit bigger and more flashy.
the worn look on the aluminum bezel gives it character imo just like wearing raw denim until you put your own fade on it or a nice tan leather darkened by use. I would wear it as is and continue to develop the character. Honestly if i had a nice watch like that i'd be too pussy to wear it out but it looks good on you *thumbs up*
I don't think a nato strap would look out of place. I actually wear my dive watch with a nato because i feel like the SS bracelet is too flashy for the clothes i usually wear.
Pretty much like the german watches pre-nazi era and just post nazi era.
Watch development didn't really progress in that decade.
Just a whole bunch of german brands were seized by the GDR govt and forced to amalgamate into a soviet compound mess.
You want a nazi watch so bad buy some cheap chinese piece of shit, remove the crystal and paint a swastika on it.
There's you nazi era watch.
recently picked up this casio dive watch. I wanted something cheap to thrash around.
I like it but I kinda screwed myself because now that i know i like the diver's style watches i'm looking at more expensive models. I want to pick up a seiko like >>10910942
Not my pic but same watch and band.
Just bought my first watch (time actually stopped cuz battery but neither me or seller noticed that untill i got home)
Really? Thanks man
Got it in local store, for some reason I dislike the idea of ordering watch online since I want to put it on my wrist first and see how it suits me.
Anyway,I was at first looking for this one but they didn't have it atm (could order it from the store directly) but then I fell in love with the one I posted earlier.
Finally got my slavshit, had a few hiccups with the original "leather" strap disintegrating as soon as I put it on and with a screw coming loose but now it seems to be running ok and it looks pretty cool.
Just googled some of them with prices.
They sure are above price range of my Sector but they are really nice, exactly what I like. Will keep them in mind next time, but will also save more money for next watch. This one was a balance between quality, good look and my (a bit low for some serious stuff) budget. Thanks for advice
Here's a shot of the movement after all loose screws were reattached. Built like strong Soviet tractor and carefully hand-finished and decorated with Côtes de Leningrad.
picked this vintage piece off ebay, thoughts? its solar powered.
How /fa/ are wooden watches?
I wear a lot of earth tones so metal and plastic watches look weird
