Hi /fa/

Anyone know what to do about very coily hair when growing it out? Mine is pretty short, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to manage. Matting is the biggest issue. For the past week, I've been so busy with classes and work that I've just been tying it back with a scarf hoping that it'd make it easier to comb when I wake up in the morning.

It still gets matted almost every night though. Is there a way I can work around it? I can't find any hairstyles that work with either very short or very kinky hair

How to ask for the type of cut the dude on the left has? Its similar to the one i have just now but i usually get a very high fade, usually taken to a 1 at the back and sides. Would i just ask the barber to lower the fade a bit?

I've been thinking about getting a haircut that's functional. I ave long hair and I want to keep the long hair in the back, ponytail it to my hat, but do something where, it's short in the front. That is essentially a mullet. I've talked to a few otherrs about this and they think that that's an 80s thing and is not something I should do.

What do you folks think? Can it be fashionable, with or without a cap on? Also I'm asian if that matters.

my hairline is pretty straight, forehead looks weird in my pic but my hairline is fairly flat across. Your hair looks a lot thinner/dryer than mine, so it wouldn't look exactly the same.

What you've got isn't bad though, should look at using some type of argan oil to make it look a bit oilier. Or look up no-poo (what I do) and shampoo/condition every 2 weeks or so.

Your actual hair length/style looks pretty good, its just the hair itself looks dry/damaged. Fix that up and regularly trim your facial hair to a decent stubble and your golden.

Look at Dylan Rieder or Elias Ronnenfelt, their hair is pretty similar to yours right now.

Get rid of the 60's freedom stache. Have the hair dresser do a little work on your eyebrows. Cut like 4/5 of your hair off, you would look much better with short hair. But not too short.

That's a weight off my shoulder like you couldn't believe. I thought i was entering catastrophe mode. I always had thick hair and my hairline was perfect - all of a sudden, i hit 17 or so and i slick my hair back one day, and i see a pronounced V, my hair starts getting thinner. That's comforting to hear.

Yeah some people's hairlines will mature a bit like that, where they'll recede a bit like that but still retain decent shape.

Still though, you should keep an eye on it and if it manages to get worse in a couple months, or your hair continues to thin maybe consider seeing a doctor, have them decide if its an issue or not, as theres always medication for receding hairline/thinning.

From what I've heard treatment can/ should be pretty reliable for it, so its not the end of the world if it actually turns out to be receding.
