If you're talking about low end mall-tier clothing,t hen it really doesn't matter.

If you're talking high end and designer items, it's absolutely everything. The reason the price tag is so inflated is because of the brand or designer's distinction.

But there's also absolute garbage that saturates the higher end clothing markets too. If you're handling a $300 sweater that feels the same as a $30 Banana Republic one, the differences are probably negligible. The $300 just is a brand that has a huge marketing force behind it.

That's why it's your job as a fashion consumer to find shit from designers and brands that you genuinely like and are willing to pay $$$ for.
