nice, i'm also a civil engineer. i generally don't go into the field much, but even when i do, i can wear whatever i want as long as i have steel toed boots, high vis vest, and hard hat. i tend to wear my visvim/jap repro pieces on those days.

2. It's alright, I genuinely love math and design so it's fun to me. If you're not good at math I'd spend a summer practicing very hard, you're gonna have an awful time in any engineering if you're not at least pretty competent. I currently work for a computer science lab so I fuck around with software programming as well, which gives me enough money to afford a couple good purchases every year. It's really all up to you, as cliche as that sounds.

Where you can see in person how your efforts or work made a difference to the lives of others or just to the general environment. Shit I think typing this gave me an idea of where to start looking.

International security last year, it was pretty fun and i had good grades but decided to switch to a UX oriented degree this year due to distance issues (2hr commute each way)
