they don't have a stamp across the tongue or that godawful captoe, the stitching/leather is far better, the silhouette is different in ways I care about (converse appear a bit out of proportion/clownish on me)
if their cost is a nontrivial consideration for you, get an analogous repro (svensson, schedin, et al) or just don't get them. if it's not, they feel a hell of a lot better
