And its also boring as fucking hell. Why not wear a patterned shirt? Hell, plain white shirts are ridiculously uncommon. You will want to wear a minimalist pattern even when wearing a suit. The base might be white but it will still have slightly colored lines.

It all depends on the occasion. If it's a fun club night/student event then it's acceptable to experiment with patterns. When I do I usually stand out (in a good way) and get loads of compliments. But in terms of OP's pic a plain white or black shirt would be an improvement.
