Does /fa/ have opinions on online M2M suit retailers? I need a suit that I'm going to wear maybe 2-3 times per year, and I want high versatility (weddings, funerals, job interviews). I have a broad upper body but a very slim waist, so I have a hard time finding OTR fit that doesn't constrict in the chest or leave me swimming in the waist/pants.
Obviously I could go OTR and then get tailoring, but bespoke is too rich for my blood -- I'd like to stay under $700 after tailoring. I'm thinking M2M might give me a decent enough fit that it won't need serious tailoring, whereas OTR probably will.
There are a million sites for M2M suits (black lapel, indochino, suitsupply, knot standard, hockerty, the suit depot, etc. etc.), and I honestly don't give a crap about the tiniest little details -- I want a decent construction at a decent price on a basic suit. I'm not against an incredible value on small sartorial details, but honestly, I just want someone to point me to a reliable, value-oriented shop.

Suit Supply is generally considered reliable and the standard option for a midrange suit.
Does anyone know where I can find decent patterns/sewing notions for a crinoline petticoat? Pic related. I have many dresses like the one pictured that should have one but I'm not about to drop $40 on one if I can make one myself.
>>12665304
how would you even make one of those? Are you going to use steel hoops?
Looking for some new shoes want something that has a more 90s retro vibe that can fit well with jeans and athletic clothing.

I am looking to replace an old Wilson's jacket that I got handed down from my father - one my mom bought him some 30 years ago. The leather has held up pretty decent despite being just ok quality. The inner lining for the jacket is torn, its some sort of synthetic material. I'd like to get a jacket to go along with my boots (pic related). Pretty well informed on leather and what to look for.
Brand Recommendations?
Have not decided on budget, would like to hear best buys in the ~500$ range and 1k range as well.

>>12665117
idk but just remember that some alternatives that people will list might damage the leather in the process of turning the laces black, så watch out
also, acrylic paint

This article tells the story of the most 'influential haberdasher' of 1980's New York - Dapper Dan - an important figure in old school hip hop history.
http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2013/03/25/harlem-chic
If you look at these items made by Dapper Dan (http://uk.complex.com/style/2013/04/gallery-dapper-dans-greatest-creations/eric-b-rakim-1987), do you think they are knockoffs or are they authentic?
What about the fact that Gucci referenced Dan in their 2018 collection? http://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/resort-2018/gucci/slideshow/collection#33

likely a mix of both knock offs and authentics. I think his early stuff was probably using fake fabrics, but once rappers like LL Cool J and others commissioned items from him, he could put money towards cutting up bags and the like to make garments.

This article is amazing, Thanks for posting it. Long read but I'm half way through.
>>12664813
nah, it was the other way around. he originally cut up bags and stuff for the logos, but he eventually started printing them himself.
