yes, drawing random poses without reference teaches you nothing about anatomy. instead of wasting your time trying to imagine how the body works, use photo reference or draw from life. time yourself for each pose at 30 sec, 60 sec, 3 minutes, etc. the best manga and anime artists are actually accomplished and skilled traditional artists as well.

It's Colors 3D, it's pretty basic, but it does the job. It has 3 types of brushes, 5 layers, and opacity control options.

I think her midsection needs to be both slightly wider and longer. It would help to shorten the upper legs to bring down the navel and vagina area a bit. I recommend checking out Andrew Loomis, specifically "Figure drawing for all it's worth". Draw the way he does his mannequins to have a basic understanding of the structure of a figure.

Also when it comes to drawing it does help a lot to use a reference.

For practice if you want to learn efficiently it helps to observe the reference, minimize it and try to draw the same reference figure a few times (like about 20) without having the reference image up . Each figure you draw you try to fix up the mistakes of the previous one. And make sure you draw these figures as fast as you can, don't put too much time into one.

Not sure if you knew this tip as well, but it helps to occasionally flip the image horizontally (and vertically too) because it's like having a fresh pair of eyes looking at the image.

This is a wip sketch. I'm going to probably put the head in full profile. I've tried a more 3/4 angle and it keeps looking wrong. Any particular type of expression she would have? Is it just permanent bitch face? I haven't played Dangan Ronpa 2. I've only seen the anime based on the first game.

Ha, thanks, I appreciate it. I know exactly how you feel though, it sucks when you see people around you doing so much better than you think is possible, I see it all the time in this thread, there are way better artists here than me. In the grand scheme of things, I really haven't been drawing that long, I started in high school, maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Of course, before that I'd still make really shitty doodles and stuff, but nothing with any effort put into it. I know it sounds so cliche, but it's really all about putting time and practice into it while trying new things. Like, I have like 2000 hours on this little drawing program on 3DS. But most of all, don't be afraid to look for help. I haven't had any kind of professional teaching or anything, and I try to draw as much as I can from the top of my head, but if I can't get something to look right I'll just find a reference and work from there. No shame in that, as long as it isn't tracing or something stupid like that. It's a patience thing too of course, everyone's inevitably bad when they start, and you just kinda have to deal with it and keep drawing and slowly improving on the things that bother you. Because I assure you, I have terrible, cringey drawings tucked away somewhere that are only like a year old. If you really want to learn you just gotta keep at it.
Sorry if that was kinda long, I don't want to be preachy, but I've just known too many people who convinced themselves that they just don't have the talent for drawing and then quit before they really even got the chance to improve. If you're really interested, you just gotta keep at it.
