Achtung! We need a multipurposefunctionallterrainvehicleofbadassness for our [insert epic cause] war now! Help me make a vehicle worthy of Eternia! Here's what I have access to :

Biggest questions are how does the Prince of Eternia's treads not just spin off of a single drive wheel and can drive axles be extended to accomodate...whatever has to happen?

It looks like the things underneath are additional track assemblies but I dont think they were on the original toy, which was a lot less like a scooby van and more like a quad-track atv, which do actually exist.

How cheap can you get a laser cutter for thin wood and plastic?

Paper is wood. You can make a laser cutter for really cheap just by salvaging the laser from a old disc writer for a PC. So, how thin is "thin".

I paid about $25 AUD for a download of these plans from: http://hhosuperpack.com/

Another collection of blueprints (For about $60 AUD) can be bought at: https://www.freefromfuel.com/manual/

These are designs of the DryCELL generator by Peter Salocher, which is a safer electrolysis machine that has less build-up of Oxy-Hydrogen (HHO).

So I smashed the screen of my trusty old Samsung galaxy S3 Neo. The problem is that unlike in the standard s3, the neo's screen is one singular part with the LCD, so the whole thing needs to be replaced despite the LCD working percectly. Getting it replaced by a professional would cost as mutch as the phone itself, but the part itself is affordable so Im thonking about buying it and doing it myself. How do I make sure that I get the right part? How do I avoid low quality stuff? And where should I buy it? Would Ebay work?

>>
>>1215779
I swapped the lcd in the standard s3 twice, had no problems doing it or finding a quality part off of ebay. Should be pretty straightforward OP
>>
Don't sink anymore money into the s3. The s5 is only 130 dollars and it's much better. It's the last Galaxy to keep the removable battery and microSD support.
>>
>>1215779
get a complete working phone from ebay with a bad esn or imei, that way you have a better chance of it being a genuine samsung screen. the replacement lcds on ebay are a hit and miss, and usually die anyways after a year or so of use.

i gotta fabricate a couple plastic parts. Or at least approximate them for a prototype.

they're too big to get 3d printed at a reasonable price. I'd like to machine my own molds for injection molding. I live near a TechShops and I took classes on it, but i wont be willing to pay the monthly fee for a while, and I dont want to put this all off and lose momentum.

It's this and another thats basically the same but inverted to fit around the lip, and no disc in the middle.
Is there an economical and fast solution that might produce better results than just slicing up PVC pipe and gluing it all together.
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
If it's too expensive to 3d print it's too expensive to inject mold unless you have access to an industrial injection molder. Small ones will inject like 11g, basically trinkets
>>
>>1215586
If cheap is the name of the game order some plastic pellets or recycle some grocery bags. Cut up the grocery bags and bring some mineral oil (baby oil is cheap) up to melt temp but below flash. Figure a way to make your sacrificial mold so tolerances are acceptable
>>
>>1215586
You could machine it. It's still be slicing up PVC and gluing together, but with precision.

What do you want the extra savings for?
Not stuff because nowhere to put it. Not going out unless its to a gym to use the showers. For a nice place to live? You are already there congratulations.

Do you have a van to sleep in? Go sleep in it then see how you get on. I'm not saying you don't exist but no woman would voluntarily sleep in a van unless they didn't realise the home comforts they were giving up. Your bf might think its retarded but will only say a hard no if he is either bent or his dad was raped in a van or something

the blue cable goes into the black cable with the "N" label.
that small white translucent bulby thing keeps the two cables connected together.
if you manage to squeeze them back both inside , you crimp them using pliers .

The brown cable should connect into the pcb somehow.
The buttons just switch the brown into those red-white-blue ones.
I have no idea how it's supposed to go inside tho.
Maybe try unscrewing those two small screws that clamp it down and take a picture of the other side.

>if you manage to squeeze them back both inside , you crimp them using pliers .
please no. cut the black wire back and get a screw down terminal block.

my guess for brown is just to the right of the blue, looks like a small hole possibly screw terminal if you are very lucky.

he said he didnt want to break it.

I have a 100" stretch of wall space in my bedroom where I would like to fit a desk. A 8' desk would work great as it would only leave a 2" gap on each side. Standard desks seem to all top out at 5'. Work benches are available in 8' and are reasonably priced (pic related for $250) but the depth is only 24'. I'd like 30' of depth to avoid sitting too close to the screen.

What are my options? I thought about joining three 2"x10"x8' boards on top of workbench legs, but I don't have a planer so I would have to use brackets and I'm worried about unevenness/warping. I thought about getting two IKEA tabletops (Gerton) and cutting one down to 3' but then the spacing of the legs would be shitty.

I'd really like to stick with a 8' desk because the idea is to set up my computer/screens on one side and have a work area on the other while being able to move seamlessly between the two. I could get two 4' desks and have them side by side, but then the legs would be in the way. That and the 4' desks generally seem pretty shitty to begin with.

I'm following this guy's instructions to build a simple circuit to convert the AC generated by my bike's dynamo to DC, so I can put LEDs in the headlight. I don't know much about electronics besides the basics, but I understand how the bridge rectifier works here and how capacitor "C1" works to smooth the output. However, I don't understand the concept shown in this example ("Circuit 5"). What is capacitor C2 doing here, and how/why does it increase the output in the middle of the displayed power curve? I tried googling it but I can't find any information for beginners that explains this specific thing.

(2/2)

The section continues with another way of building the same thing, using two capacitors instead of the single "tuning capacitor" shown in the first example. It raises additional questions. How is the circuit acting now? And what is the purpose of resistor R1? I don't understand what the author means when he writes that this resistor "biases" C2 and C3.

Help is appreciated - thank you!

I think C2 'tunes away' the series inductance (L) of the generator for a certain frequency (i.e. speed) leaving only the series resistance (R). In circuit 6 C2 is replaced with two capacitors (of twice the capacity) wired in series such that it acts as a non-polarized cap. R1 is connected to the positive output and ensures that none of the two caps in series can get charged in reverse.

The acoustic analog would be a tuned (and correctly damped) bass-boost loudspeaker cabinet.

So bought a house, it has these paver blocks laid down on an inch of sand to make a small back patio.
I found the same ones at the hardware store, so I bought some new ones planning on paying them down extending it out about 4 feet both ways.
I was just going to dig out and lay the new bricks and sand down as a quick and dirty thing but am worried.

Its hard to see from the pictures, but the whole patio is dipped towards the house as it was built on a slight hill. About 8 feet going away from the house the slight incline becomes a decline and is a noticeable hill.

From a rain and water standpoint, is this a problem? The water is going to pool in the sand under the blocks and fall towards the foundation of the house right?
There is no basement.

I was thinking of removing the incline. pulling up all the existing pavers, moving the sand, and just chopping the hill off.. Just making the dirt a slight decline from the first bricks all the way to the actual small hill 8 feet away from the patio.

Would this huge amount of extra work be worth it? Or am I over thinking it?

>>1214331
Just to be clear because I rambled.

Is having a slight hill (with a layer of leveling sand) going towards the house going to damage or hurt my foundation?
And would changing the hills direction so the water falls away from the house have any real benefits?
>>
bottom line: it should be graded away from the house

whether you consider the possible drainage issues enough to redo the whole thing the right way, is for you to decide

personally, I practically never try do a poor job on purpose, and tacking on a nice patio addition to a crappy one would just make the whole thing seem pointless

Anyone have a terrarium?

This one is mine. I want to get dart frogs, but the temperature inside gets up to or above 80F every day. I read that this is too hot for dart frogs.

Any ideas how to keep it cool? Other than keeping the AC on in my house and other than a computer fan. THANKS!

Where do you get this shitty information?
Also, dart frogs are incredibly poisonous. If you have direct contact with their skin(with any wound or so) it can be deadly

There are many types of less poisonous frogs that look pretty cool themselves.

Yo-holdup

Where the hell do you get dartfrogs in the first place?
>>
>>1214257
Protip: Dart frogs are not poisonous, they acquire that from their diet.

If you google Poison Dart Frog the second result is someone selling them.
>>

I have a mostly aquatic terrarium with a painted turtle and some bog plants but I don't feel like taking a picture. The turtle is a total camwhore.

Tip for OP is to just play with the lights and amount of ventilation you have up top until temperature is ideal. I hear infrared temperature guns are nice.

You need something with 10 points. No hex will fit at all. What make of car, or hub, or whatever? Google "lug wrench 10 points for ******".

>try a hex key of an odd size

It's a lug nut. They tend to be tight. Are you mathematically challenged or something? No hex will come close to engaging much of anything in a 10 point hole.

Goddamn I know sometimes you have to wing it but there comes a time when common sense has to play a part.
