Have anyone tried this combination?
I think it is a little better as a wood filler than flour+sawdust+water.

I like wood glue + sawdust. It does take a lot of sanding to get the surrounding areas completely free of glue residue though (if using a clear finish where that matters).
I'm trying to jury rig something since my motherboards audio-in processing is broken, and my usb audio thing doesn't support 7.1
Basically trying to tape earbuds to my headphones so I don't have to switch to the earbuds every time I need a mic.
Basically I am wondering if I can cut the earbud off the microphone and have the mic still work. I'm assuming it wont but I don't know enough about this stuff to be sure.
What are you plugging in and where are you plugging them into?
>>1223669
The headphones are plugged directly into the PC green audio port, because that works.
The earbuds are plugged into a USB audio connector that was part of an old PS3 headset. The USB thing has a port for a standard 3 ring plug on it, and actually gets the input signal to my PC unlike the direct pink ports(Hardware Issue).
Since I dont need to listen to the bud Im wondering if I can chop it off and have the mic still work.
>>1223661
Cutting that shouldn't hurt the mic. They all share the common ground but the ground should be a continuous wire with the mic connected before it goes up to the earbud.
How can I give non rustic wood a rustic look?
>>1223657
Wash it with chlorine
>>1223657
Google antiquing furniture.
Pretty much just beat the piss out if it with chains and go on about your day
>>1223657
Depending on the wood and your area you can just leave it outside for a month or two. I live in the south and I can age cedar practically overnight by just leaving it on the roof of my workshop.
Ok despite being an /o/ topic this board seems more suiting. Anyways I just took trim off my cars pillars and it left a lot of adhesive and I'm planning on wrapping them so which grit sandpaper would be good to get the glue off and get the plastic surface smooth? I did peel off some of the paint on them too would the same grit be good for that?
>>1223631
you dont get glues off with sandpaper, you use mineral spirit or adhesive remover or acetone etc
>>1223633
>mineral spirit
Good advice but I'd save this for last. It's good with fresh material like alkyd paint, but I don't think it will do anything to fully cured automotive adhesive.
I just dont want to use anything harsh because the glass and paint is right there and if I ruin any of that then there's a bigger problem
do you guys ever use pulleys? if so where do you get them from? pic not related
>>1223481
Almost every stationary power tool in my shop uses either a pulley or a step pulley. The exception being my bench grinders. When I need replacements I either hit up Amazon if it is generic or eBay, 'cause I need the exact part and it isn't being made new anymore.

I use pulleys all the time at work for our screw conveyor system.
I get ours from Motion Industry. I think Grainger has em too.
Any idea how to get this out my go karts gas tank. It's supposed to stop gas from sloshing around, but I've read it can disintegrate and clog the carb jets which has been happening frequently.
>>1223462
Needle-nose pliers or a length of steel wire with a hook shape on the end.
>>1223462
You should add an inline fuel filter. Idk how big the tank is but if its bigger than a book may not be worth cracking it nopen to take the foam out
>>1223470
It appears the tank bolts direct to the carb.
Hey /diy/.
I'm trying find a possible way to replicate the mask/helmet shown in the photo. I'm having some trouble finding some kind of display that could be used to recreate it.
I've found some examples similar to this but they all show LED's that are to big to get a resolution similar to a TV or other monitors.
Add the fact that it needs to be able to curve and to display images with relatively high resolution.
Any tips? Ideas? Is it even possible?

That's fucking hot. Probably an OLED.
The problem is seeing through it- I would add a pair of 1080p cameras, then run them to a display goggle under the mask.
The bonus is you can't have your eyeballs fried by lasers, and also can switch to infra-red viewing mode (depending on the cameras)
Hey there, /diy/nosaurs!
I've got a situation:
>Move into nice little house with wife
>Renting from a guy I know
>Wife and I can't have kids
>Decide to adopt a dog
>Landlord says it's okay, but I have to fix any and all damages to the house
>"What's the worst this 25-pound dog could do?"
>FORESHADOWING INTENSIFIES
>Go to humane society
>Find a cool dog
>Bring him home
>He's nice and loves to play
>First week with him is great
>Vacation with wife ends
>Dog is left alone while we are at work
>Come home to a door that has been chewed-through
>Also an 8-foot by 7-foot section of carpet with holes in it
>mfw
>Go to home improvement store and buy new door
>Get lucky and find EXACT carpet the dog tore up
>Unfortunately, due to being a poor-fag, I can't replace the whole 12-foot by 15-foot carpet space
>I can only replace the smaller section
My question is this:
How the fuck do I patch a piece of carpet into the middle of another without using the metal runners that go into door thresholds or end up stepping on carpet tacks repeatedly?
>Yes, OP is a retard
>No, we don't have the dog any more because he couldn't stop tearing up shit
>Other repairs are done, though
Can any smart Anon help me?

>>1223425

>gets a dog
>didn't do basic research on dog behavior and how to curb it
>gets rid of the dog
>blames the dog instead of own incompetence
That's cold. Even leaving the dog in a cage while you're out is better than dumping it completely.
Does anyone know a good method to wind these soul destroyers?
The best method I've come up with is clipping one end to a nail but it still makes the demon want to jump
Lathe with a mandrill would be one way, though usually that's for helix springs.

Why not just wind it WITH YOUR TWO HANDS
The kitchen in my new house has a batten light, kind of like pic related, and it's really ugly. I want to make a lampshade for it, but I can't find a single existing lampshade on the market for these kind of lights so I have no idea how I can securely mount it or how worried I need to be about it setting on fire. Has anyone ever done anything like this before? Do you have any ideas?
modify it to accept led tubes, buy some thermoplastic, use hairdryer/heatgun and a pole to bend it to the desired shape.

Each manufacturer produces ' shades' for their own product, there is no standard between different models.
If you find out who makes it you can check to see if they make accessories for them.
A shade is called a diffuser, but ask for a ' controller' and the guy will know your a pro.
Opal is translucent, prismatic is transparent but lots of prisms. That's the two main types.
I guess you could make one of you want...
I'm trying to add an aux input to my cars CD player. I've looked around on the internet but every blog talks about using cd changers, but my player doesn't have one. The model of the head unit is a Panasonic CQ-C1303U. I have no problem soldering, I just don't know what to solder too.
>>1223347
You find the cd audio decoder chip and the amplifier area and insert it in that general in-between area.
Hello /diy/
I'm trying to repair an old boombox, the "TCR-S90 II" by Sankei. This boombox has been rebranded a lot, so it has many namens. Since I'm new to electronics, I didn't even bother to repair the original amplifier, so I put one of those cheap Bluetooth amplifiers from amazon in it. This one to be exact:
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01N3MVRMZ
Everything works fine, but since I'm not using the original amplifier anymore, I have to rewire the VU meter. However I have no idea how the micro controllers work. They Seem to be the "IR2E02" by "SHARP". Since it is a stereo VU Meter there is two of them.
Here is where I'm stuck. Do I need any additional parts? Can I just use the amplified output from the amp? How much power do the micro controllers need? I have a lot of buck converters laying around, but I'd have to order other parts.
>>1223175
Doubt those are micro controllers of any type.
Probably just 7 segment driver. like the LM 3915.
See how the schematic rubs up against these. http://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-20-LED-VU-Meter-Datasheet-Guide/

Sup guys, i want to make an scale phoenician ship. I have experience /diy/ing but i've never built a ship before
I want to make it with my sister just watching pics, the only problem is the material
Should i use cardboard? is cheap and easy to get (literaly all around me)
Go to a craft store, you can buy bags of popsicle sticks and matchsticks for dirt cheap that you can do most of the frame with. Get some balsa wood for bigger sections or parts where you need to curve the wood, like the hull planks.
I used to make half meter big model ships in primary school with my teacher. If I recall correctly, we would use shit ton, an absolute shit ton of wood dust. Slightly larger bits worked the best I think. You'd mix that with a lot of wood glue I think.
Mind you, this was very long ago, so it might have been some other type of glue. I know the white glue wasn't visible afterwards.
Anyway, we'd build the inner support walls out of plywood. After you get the most basic shape, you pour that mix of wood dust and glue into the bottom side of the ship. It makes it relatively heavy, but it fucking floats on water.
You manually shape everything by hand and let it dry for a week.
The rest is just shit ton of detailed work on small pieces of wood and tiny amountsnof wood glue.
I'm interested into doing OOAK doll repaints and etc, but here in Brazil you just can't find good sealants for this type of work, the best sealant for this type of work is a japanese one called Mr. Super Clear(MSC) but i just can't import this type of stuff. The sealant needs to be able to hold/protect acrylic paints, pastel and watercolor pencils, and have a dried layer surface that can be worked again onto with the same materials listed before.
Pic related.
>>1223135
Mr Super Clear is just a lacquer clear coat, given of their own formulation but still just lacquer clear coat.
>>1223176
So do you know of any Brazilian spray sealants/varnishes that fall into that category then? Sorry i don't know anything about this varnish and terminology stuff.
I dont know about Brazilian brands or what's available there but maybe if you look into products marketed to other hobbies like wargames and model trains you might be able to find something that works how you want. Also, as you're probably aware, spray finishes dont do so good in hot humid conditions, so maybe a brush-on might be a better choice, and easier to import.
Just discovered this guy
