How well documented is the glasses making process from the 19th century?
I'd like to study how it was done and attempt to recreate these sunglasses that belonged to Hyrum Smith from that time.

Have posted on /g/ but might be more of a /diy/ question
Just got a sony 4k action cam, used for the first time this weekend.
Didn't realise how badly the underwater case blocks the mic. Anyone have any suggestions/solutions? I'm not sure how much I trust using it without the underwater casing on whilst sailing.
Drill holes in front of case and apply a hydrophobic tape? (having a lot of issues finding any without it being a huge MOQ)
I could go down the goretex route, but think the material I end up with wouldn't be designed to be acoustically transparent.

Only audio really recorded is that from vibrations transmitted through the hull.
I doubt I'm ever going to want to take it to 60 meters of depth so not so fussed that taping it will be compromised at pressure.

Would agree with you, unsure if it would be as seamless as the current set up though.
Turn on watch, watch powers up camera, and streams what its recording to screen on your wrist.
Would have to get something else to prompt the recorder to start.
Quite a good setup for the given situation where a lot of the time its difficult to get camera to begin recording without abandoning position on foredeck
alternative would be to always record audio I guess

If there is no SIM card, and you want cellular service, buy a fucking SIM card with a plan on it, or even just a SIM card if it won't let you go past without a SIM card. To answer your question OP, i wouldn't put any more than a few ounces per wall. It really depends how long your fort took to make, but you don't want to ruin all your work by putting something too heavy up.
You could probably figure out a way to reinforce the wall, maybe taping multiple boxes together or something? Really might ruin the aesthetic of your fort though.

Hey /diy/, first time posting here and I have a blacksmithing question.
I'm setting up a backyard forge and I've found a thick tool steel plate at the junkyard to use as am anvil (hopefully). Problem: it's around 20lbs, so very much on the light side. How do I set it up so that it doesn't bounce or shift as I hammer away? Drilling through it for bolts would be a pain in the ass, but feasible, I'm just asking if tere are any alternatives (like clamping it down tightly with wooden blocks or setting it in a bigass block of clay to absorb vibration).

Pour out a cylinder of concrete and get a masonry chisel and chunk out the space for the plate to sit in it. Just a half in and half out. For shits and gigs, buy a neodymium magnet and put it in the concrete below the steel plate and sink it in only the face shows and lay the plate on top of it

Hi /diy/ I am trying to make my own Led lighting for a planted 24 x 18 x 24 exo terra and I am getting pissed trying to figure out what strips to buy. I already have a UVB light for my day geckos so I am not concerned about that but I want to be able to make a shit load of bars for this tank as well as other tanks I have.
anyone experience with diy led lights? or good links as to where to buy them?
Since I posted the lighting question in /an/ already I will go into more details as to what I am planning on doing with this vivarium / terrarium. This next week I am going to go to a hydroponic store and get a pump and other stuff so I can make a misting system for humidty as well as a rain system for watering / cleaning the tank. The mist system is going to be two or four fogger heads connected to 1/4" irrigation tubing then for the rain system I was planning on using 1/4" microline with built in pressure compensated emitters. Both lines will lead to the pump which will be submersed into a 10 gallon tank or reservoir.
Any tips or comments on this setup?

He says you could use a printed piece of cotton to decorate the outside and make it a picture frame.
But I can't seen to find a website that sells these.
A lot of them sell those thick cotton canvases for painting which would probably reflect sound just like the wall.
Any ideas? I'd really like to make a picture frame absorption panel.

That videos cropped up on here a few times - it is, at best, sketchy. You can make panels for sound deflection, what you probably want however is absorption - this really only functions with material mass, rockwool, etc. Thin cotton in a frame, YMMV - tldr, its How To Make Money On YouTube Contradicting Physics.

It may sound strange to the people here but I hard time using my hands to do stuff properly, for example would have shaky hands, not grip something properly and in general not being skillful. Is there something that can be done to it so I stop fucking up or I should just give up on it.
