I wish everything was torx.
They are great

Well jews are mostly highly educated and knowing that probaby make up a good portion of engineers as such. Star shaped provides more surface area.

Never did it myself but I wouldn't be surprised if torqx used the golden ratio.

So what, just use a regular jewdriver

Any way to solder Li-Ion batteries with nickel strips WITHOUT buying a spot welder from China?

Heat kills Li-Ion batteries, right?

Spot welding batteries is done by closely spaced flat electrodes with both on the tab to be welded, not one on the battery terminal and one on the tab.

Though it does make me wonder if I could re-purpose an old audiophile cap. The 1 Farad ones that are used for stabilizing automotive power in competition setups.

What's the secret to getting plywood furniture to look good? I've got some bedroom furniture pieces in mind that would only really work in blonde plywood, but I'm not sure if I can pull it off or not.

Is it just that you have to complete them to a high level of finish? Or do they only look good with hipstergram filters?

it's going to look cheap regardless, best bet would probably be paint

Rotary cut veener. Good edge banding, use solid wood, not that plastic shit like on prefab caninets.

Sorry, I mean furniture where the plywood is left as is, excepting varnish or poly coats. I legitimately like the look of plywood as a material and I'm wondering if it's actually possible to make good looking furniture out of it or if it only really works in set-dressed photography.

Greetings/Diy/nosaurs.
So i got this terrarium (plus water bowl and hideout) for free and decided to get a low maintenance pet to keep inside. I'm having a problem with heating and maintaining humidity. I bought an under the tank heating pad but it is not having an effect on the temp of the terrarium.
I bought an emperor scorpion and it need 85 degrees f on the hot side. It turns out that the heating pad (zoomed Reptitherm U.T.H.) only increases the temp 2-5 degrees. The temp in the room is 70 degrees. I cant use lights because its a scorpion. How the fuck do I heat this thing?
Also, I'm in colorado and its a bit dry. The humidity level needs to stay at about 80% but it drops to 40% in just a couple hours even though most of the top is covered. How do i keep the humidity up while I'm at work?
I dont want to kill my scorpion. Any help you can give would be very helpful.

How come no other tool maker can match Wera and Knipex in ~AestheticS~?

Do you own any Wera or Knipex tools? Which ones are you most pleased with? Post pics of your collections here.

Pretty sure your "aesthetics" is just acquired taste from know they are better quality and have a generally better finish.

Also beadblasting generally looks better than no finish.

I'm about to do a workshop roof.

There's a section that overhangs the door about a foot or two. How can I align the shingles on this part so when I start doing the main roof area, the seams are all properly spaced?

The roof looks like this when viewed perpendicular to roof face.
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1092617
Center the shingles on the little roof. Do the same for the main roof. You might have to do a lot more cutting though.
>>
>>1092617
dry fit your ridge vent and pull measurements off it.
>>
>>1092617
Start from the leftmost corner of the main roof. Then backtrack the last 2 feet. Be careful prying the shingles when tucking the last 2 feet in.

any recommendation on pic related? Ive been looking for an a1 sized but only found one locally at walmart. its either that or i can order one online but idk if it will fuck it up during shipping

It should ship fine. They should also have those at craft stores, though. And depending on where you live, there might be cheaper options at some surplus stores.
>>
>>1092608
I have a clear one. No difference really. Buy bigger than what you think you need. Also if it gets curled from shipping I found if you set em on something flat like plywood and stick in the sun(a hot car works amazing well) they'll lay back down on their own.
>>
>>1092608
I've ordered a few of them from amazon, all have arrived fine.

Hey guys I was looking into freezing my own sperm at home in case something happens, do you know what temperaturedo I need to keep my freezer on so it doesn't die and what type of cup I need? I also may be able to get a second cup in my grandma's freezer if this one fails

You can't put sperm into cryostasis in your freezer.
>>
>>1092535
No worries OP. Just leave it in the Kleenex collection under your bed. It will be fine.

What would be in a 9 or so year old crank flashlight like this?
8 posts and 2 images submitted.

motor, gears, nicad battery (or maybe a supercap), leds, a diode or two, a couple of resistors. it takes 60 seconds to open one.

bulb, battery, dynamo, maybe a pcb if it blinks or has other functionality than on/off. nothing that interesting.

And I wouldn't be able to discern what is what. I'm thinking of ghetto rigging it into something much larger and brighter, something like a miniature mounted spotlight. And I've never made anything, before. Seems like fun.

please help. I saw a movie, that a guy could (While watching tv in his bedroom) see the doorbell cam IN his TV and could open the door (while tv chanel is in the background)... Anyone know this system ? thanks anons

>>
>>1092244

This. You could patch together something, but no system exists like this. You could do picture in picture on your TV to display the video from a Webcam you have outside your door. You would have to do that manually though. Then you could buy one of those remote control deadbolts and unlock it from your phone when you see someone that you want to let in.

Modded Roku

Have galaxy s5..I was running after a random autistic kid that was about to run into traffic. .the phone fell out of my pocket. LCD is out..phone still works. but can't see shit..not unlock it. I have a lot of shit on there..a bunch of nudes from exes and random girls I know. How do I unlock my phone so I can transfer my files to my comp?

You don't.

I'm too lazy to google for you, but you may be able to cast the screen to a TV or your monitor with some sort of connector, then use a Bluetooth device that can control the phone.

Honestly, you're pretty fucked unless you replace the screen. Even buying a new screen to connect temporarily would work.
>>
>>1092162

Take out the SD card and hope it's saved on there.

So I'm looking to make some DIY boxing gear. Mainly the wall mounted uppercut bag in the picture. I recently deconstructed a leather sofa so I have the stuffing and leather from that to use on this. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to go about making this?

Thanks in advance

i dont think foam would be dense enough to take a good punch? unless you can fold and wrap it easily sometime.
would sand be better or maybe a combination of the two?
also, how are your sewing skills?
>>
In a gym I used to go, they had tyres mounted perpendiculary to the wall for uppercut training. I don't know, maybe you can check out the idea

What possess some DIY'ers to be real cunts? I was installing some sprinkler lines at my house yesterday and also found my gas line. What drives a fuck to be this lazy and negligent of their install?

holly shit what are the regulation over ther is the pipe the property od the gas company? that thing shoudl be remade - buried deep
>>
>>1092017
I'm not exactly sure what the depth is, I would assume at least 18 inches at the minimum. Sadly this is my side of the meter and I would have to foot the bill. I would really like to sit the installer down in a chair and rip out teeth for this.

Lol no. West coast US it's 3 feet minimum.

After watching the show "burl hunters" some buddies and I have been reflecting on our lives in the woods and where we may find some easy money to fund cookouts and such.

It seems as though Burls are often made from certain types of mold and insect infestations.

What do you think the success rate is?

Would it be possible or worthwhile to try and grow some burls or infect otherwise healthy trees?

So we're completely renovating this house my partner bought. We're turning the front shed into a utility room (it's attached to the house already).

We want the floor tiled and it's a solid concrete floor. My question is, do we need to insulate the floor? The only way I've seen people do this is with building a false floor first... I can't seem to find any way of tiling on top of insulation?

Pic: One of the insulation types we are using. This one is going under our wooden flooring in the main part of the house.

under-tile insulation boards exist but the R-factor's not great
you won't get warm comfy tiles without insulation AND underfloor heating
