Dead thing in the wall somewhere, smells like satan's butthole. What do?
do you know where it's at? you need to get it out
>>1129110
I can't pinpoint the area exactly but it's either in-between the ceiling and floorboards or inside the wall near a heating duct. I don't want to X-acto knife the walls on a wild goose chase tho.
You need to get it out ASAP.
The carcass has already started leaking bowel contents and its insides are being broken down by bacteria, and that's why it smells. Soon it will be liquefied enough to simply leak a hellish sludge from its orifices and pour down the walls or floorboards. It will stink to high heavens, and depending on its size you won't be able to get rid of the stench unless you rip everything out and have industrial sanitizer people come help.
Tip: If it's dead it is probably down somewhere in the lower parts of the wall.
So i just moved in an old house that got some minor problems i would like to fix.. but im not used to this doors stuff.
This is the bathtub slide door. It is made of acrylic.. the problem is that it get stuck because it expands with the heat (im guessing) making them somewhat concave so both the acrylics touch each other.. which makes it difficult to slide.
Any idea on how to fix it?
This a pic on the side so you can see the real problem
>>1127061
Throw it ina trash or be prepared to do battle every few months. Had one when i was a kid and dad hung a curtain rod after about year 4

>the problem is that it get stuck because it expands with the heat (im guessing) making them somewhat concave so both the acrylics touch each other
It will expand with heat, but it will also absorb water (a few percent by weight total), and the wet expands bowing toward the wet.
Any people with knowledge of wood and carpentry here?
I've been working on a razzle board (pic related). I'm having trouble picking a correct type of wood - being an idiot, I bought spruce, which not only splintered along the lines the holes are arranged in when drilled into, but also got crooked after just one night of being stored in a garage. So, what should I get? Requirements:
- ability to drill the holes without damaging the board;
- resistance to crooking in changing humidity and temperature;
- affordability (I live outside of the US, so any figure I provide won't tell Americans anything, basically something non-exotic).
Thank you in advance for any help.
>>1124080
some type of hardwood. which species are affordable depend on where you are located.
no matter what wood you use you either want to drill into a sacrificial piece that is clamped to the piece you are working on or drill from both sides. this prevents splintering on the side the side the bit is exiting.
get something kiln dried. don't leave it in the garage. temperature and humidity will warp your board.

Thank you very much. Have a rare Pepe.
You can use one of those fancy cutting boards for this.
I'm planning on making what I call a "make shift computer". Essentially I want a mechanical computer that isn't like the kind I'm using right now to type this message on, but, instead, can be able to run a word pad of sort without being electromagnetic.
I don't actually care too much about the mechanical parts themselves, but, instead, I care about the "logic gates" and how they make certain processes work.
So I already know how to storage memory into binary through the use of the SR latch. I know how to add and subtract with an ALU as well. The problem is that I don't understand the functionality of other things in the computer and how they are set up through pure logic gates.
When I look up a guide on the internet, it doesn't actually explain it or it uses logic gate clusters instead of explaining what specific logic gates are needed to make it function this way. Please halp.
you need gates in a real computer because a program consists of a series of steps and decisions, and gates can execute those. if you wanna use a conceptual paper computer, you dont need any gates, you need a finite state machine. FSMs are taught in early computer science classes, so you should find lots of documentation.

>a mechanical computer that can be able to run a word pad
You mean one of these?
Hi all,
I'm moving my business to.a much bigger premises and I want to carry over my access control system. Its currently uses these axis p8221units to drive the door lock, rs232 rfid reader and some leds, however they are expensive as fuck. Does diy know of any alternatives I could use? My requirements are basically 2 controllable outs, rs232 and 2 i/o inputs, however PoE would be nice. Must be ethernet addressable. Have been told cheap PLC's could do this??
Inb4 buy a solution, I really like our setup and I have the programmer happy with the software side
There's lots of cheap single board computers with rs232, GPIO, and TTL RS232, like the Raspberry Pi. You'll need to throw a MAX232 on the RS232 pins.
>>1129481
Had considered that, but then we would need to make custom cases, psu, relay boards which is abit outside of our skill level
bump like a bastard
anyone make one a homebrew version with a arm board for networking and processes and its interfacing with a microcontroller to hand analog/digital i/o
So I have this old (like 90s old) Ryobi circular saw that starts spinning as soon as I plug the power, I think it may be so problem on the trigger, any ideas?
>>1129398
Should probably check the trigger assembly, should also have a cross bolt safety that isn't working either.
>>1129398
throw the cock sucker out. i lost half a hand because of one doing exactly that
>>1129406
>Just lost the ability to use the shift key.
I say it's worth the risk OP.
I want to make a twin bed frame (74x40) from only 1x2s. Is this a worthwhile thing to do or just unsafe? I figure that me and my mattress are only 250 pounds total, which means 62.5 pounds per post and 125 pounds across each beam which a 1x2 can take if setup vertically.
no, only for lats
get some 2x4s and at least 2x6s
>>1129304
Maybe go to the hardware stor and find a nice female companion? A grown man sleeping in a twin bed is a bit sad.
>>1129304
Short answer, no it'll suck.
And your 250lb fatass weight is the STATIC LOAD. You moving around on the bed is a dynamic load which your shitty 1x2s arent going to handle.
Go buy some cheap 2x dimensional pine if you cant afford nice lumber, or get to planing and laminating those 1x2
Is there a way to auto power on a device when the device is connected to a power supply?
For example, i have a bluetooth device connected to a car, but in order to power on i have to press one button also the same button is pressed to turn it off without removing the power source.
I could bypass the button in order to auto start, but since the power off is the same button there's my problem.
Can anyone help?
Thank you.
BTW the device is 5v.
>>1128955
If your pic related is the device in question, NO.
Any other bluetooth receiver? NO. Basically, these devices use soft power start and stop, just as you pointed out. The only way to make this happen designing your own hardware and writing your own firmware. But, I'd search the internet to see if someone else has done it. Don't hold your breath, tho..
Any recommendations for getting this to a nice finish?
I believe it is aluminium, I have used 80-400 grit sand paper so far, have 3000 grit on the way if that might be of use.
Kill yourself.

I'm after more of a polished look though.
Metal polish
Am I a genius or about to set my house/laptop on fire?
you're good man

What is on the other end of it product wise?
What are my options for fixing this steering wheel? Steering wheel covers are junk, replacements are expensive. I've made door cards and trimmed foam from car seats, so I have a little upholstery experience.
Steering wheel cover. Or new car
paracord wrap
>>1128283
You'll never get it to look factory new again without complete replacement.
I have seen not crappy installs of wheel cover from wheelskins, its essentially a strip of leather with heavy duty cordage or leather stitching holding it on.
If you wanna do it full /diy/ get your own strip of leather, and stitch it on. Try to not make it look like leatherface's car. Bonus points if you add more leather wraps around the grab handles and door handles.
Hello /diy/ does anyone knows if there are a material similar to L200 foam? There is a other way that it is called?
I need to craft some things, but here were i live i cant found that, at least nothing with the name "L200 foam" what can i use with the same properties?
Its called closed cell foam, usually comes in EPE and EVA flavours
>>1127968
EVA foam (ethylene vinyl acetate).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethylene-vinyl_acetate
Best bets for similar material qualities are probably raw polyethylene foam itself (think Nerf darts or pool noodles), some high-density urethane foam (think Nerf BALLS or or some vinyl foam.
>>1127968
Are you in the us op? Are you looking to use it to make cosplay armor like your pic related. You can buy big eva foam sheets or rolls from sears in the fitness section or homedepot in the flooring department
forgive my ignorance
metal.
>>1127253
I mean like, I'm fairly sure it's for making metal shelves/racks but does this part specifically have a name?
>>1127248
Looks a bit like some type of Simpson tie
How would one go about creating a homemade Styrofoam RC plane?
>>1124690
Go to Flight Test , or RC groups, or google.
>>1124712
Flite Test is garbage, real men use hot wire cutting or balsa
>>1124690
Buy a transmitter, a receiver, motor with prop, some servos, battery and charger. Physical design isn't as important and can be even worst than OP. Modern motors can fly a styrofoam brick.
>European and American made hand tools (Aussieland and Japan can also apply)
Tell me some quality and fairly priced screwdrivers and pliers, thanks.
