Hi bros !
I'm looking for a new monitor for gaming/working. I currently have a laptop who have a 660 GTX but i would like to have a correct battlestation.
Later, i'll buy a strong config but for now, i'll just "upgrade" the rest.

So, i have a question. Which monitor should i buy for more or less 300€. Note that i can't enjoy 144hz and 3d for now but it's planned when i'll buy my new tower (that's why the price).

I'm currently thinking about the ASUS VG248QE 3D which have a good customer's feedback. But it is available for a long time on the market, i'm afraid to buy a "too old" one (perhaps there will be another one better for the same price soon) Is this one is a good choice?
Tell me your opinion !

How does one properly clean this things? All the methods I've seen only use a cotton swab or a toothpick to clean the interior, but that only seems to push earwax and debris past the mesh, where residues build up over time.

I think I have a brilliant idea to clean them, but it involves submerging them in 96% alcohol.
The idea is to play a sine or square wave around 1khz (or higher frequency, since a lower frequency could be too much for the diaphragm to withstand) to dislodge the wax and get it out, thoroughly cleaning the interior.

I'm afraid the alcohol might damage something, would distilled water and a small amount of soap be a better soulution to do this?

Take off the rubber covers and soak them in hydrogen peroxide

That's literally it.
>>
>>1130329
Isn't H203 a strong oxidizer though, even at 3%? I was hoping for a medium that won't react with the earphones and rely only on the vibration caused by the diaphragm to clean them.

Fucking gross man.
If your buds are so dirty maybe you should throw them out and pick up a new pair for like 2$. Then go to the doctor and explain your are a tinky cunt that doesn't know how to wash behind his ears

Does anyone know of a reliable method of cleaning wildflowers that are freshly picked of pests, etc without actually rising them or washing them?

>>1129974
Dunno about reliable, but many bugs leave the flowers pretty soon after you have cut them.
You could also try slaughtering your new pets with heat or poisons, but their dead bodies would still remain.
>>
Freezing them in a vacuum chamber?

It ought to kill everything while leaving the plant pristine
>>
>>1129974
Quick rinse with water is the easiest or dunking them in a small container of water.

I'm working on a design project that will involve an East Asian style curved roof. The problem is that I cannot seem to find any info on the design specifics of these roofs, such as roof pitch, curvature or anything technical like that. I know they didn't eyeball that shit and it's bullshit that no source can give me the math behind the construction. Can anybody help me with this?

If you need more specifics I'm leaning more towards Japanese styles and a relatively low roof pitch.

That might help. I know how to measure a basic roof pitch and maybe if I look at roofs in this style enough I can figure out the math on my own.

Hey /diy/kes, quick question. I wanna put a small window in a wall. I got a 'new construction' type vinyl window, and the outside of my house is stucco.

Can I just cut the stucco to the exact size of the window and screw/nail the window flange into the stucco (with felt paper/flashing/caulk), or should I rip the stucco out enough that I can nail the window into the frame (with felt/flashing/caulk) and then glob stucco back in around it?

I'm lazy, but I also want the window to be okay. I don't really care what it looks like, I just want a decent seal.

Thanks fellas.

making a hole in the wall without reinforcing the structure around is fucking suicide
>>
No you should frame the window properly and then flash it properly or there's a good chance your wall is going to rot out if your home doesn't have eaves. The issue is expansion and contraction of dissimilar materials and globbing in stucco is going to look like shit and most likely crack and or damage the window.

My bedroom is almost 40 years old and the roof suddenly fell. I was able to get out of the room just in time before anything fell on my head and killed me.

How do I fix it? Does it look safe? Wat do?

If you don't already know how to fix it you will need to call a professional to look at it. You also need to determine why it fell. Are those blocks/bricks I'm seeing? Definitely a professional job and a call to your insurance company. If you live in a rented apartment, call your landlord and tell him the ceiling fell in. Stay out of that room.

Oh the joys of plaster. You need to get a scraper and crowbar to pry off the rest of it. then throw up some 1/4" or 3/8" drywall. Finish it as you see fit.

So I broke my hand in the fourth metacarpal (ring finger inside palm pic very related).

It didn't grow properly, and over four months later, I still can't shake hands with a girl without letting out a shriek. The docs said it'll be like that, but I'm losing a lot of weight (hungry skeleton) and subsequently self-respect.

They won't put a cast on my hand because I had one for 4 weeks and any longer than that would make my fingers stiff for life.

I would really like to be able to work out (I can finally do push ups without tears) but I can't possibly lift. I would really like to go swimming again.

Is there any way to make a DIY cast so I can go swimming or work out again?

Hello /diy/

A few months ago, the electricity in my bedroom and a few outlets in another room would randomly go out for 5-10 minutes and then come back on. It was similar to a fuse popping except afaik there was no change in power demand, and the fuse for that area was never burnt out. Cut to a week ago, and the power has fully stopped working. I now have heavy duty extension cords running into the room for light, TV, etc. (pic is of a similar fuse box)

How do I* fix it?

I don't have much electrician experience other than changing fixtures and outlets but I am a fast learner and generally handy

*I cannot call a professional as my mom is a compulsive hoarder, calling anyone would mean my home getting immediately condemned, making me homeless

You fucked son. If it ain't the fuses, which, wtf it's the 21st century, then it is the wires. If your house is so old that it is still using fuses then it is likely that you have old as hell wiring to go with it. You probably have a wiring failure.

This is more than /diY/ but how bad/good are the construction regulations in you country/state/city?

>can't even buy and build a pre fabricated house without tons of licensing and inspections

11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I don't even know where to find the regulations because I imagine they very from county to county and municipality to municipality, but...they don't fucking inspect shit out here anyway unless some neighbor who fucking hates you squeals on you.
>>
New Zealand reporting in. It's fucking bullshit, your average house needs 6-8 inspections, the inspectors are almost universally cunts and they work for the council so complaints go nowhere and if one has a bone to pick with you he will fail you on shit that isn't even in your plans.

Building codes themselves aren't too bad, some retarded shit, but not too much. If you want something that is outside the norm, like prefab or anything imported, good fucking luck. You can't even make your own frames and trusses, just assemble prenails because god forbid someone undercuts these dickheads that make 15-20k for some fucking frames and trusses that a group of decent guys smash out in a day or two.

Also, good luck doing anything yourself. Legally you can do all the plumbing yourself and all the electrical work except for mains connection and switchboard fit off yourself, however the inspectors and council will cockblock you so fucking hard that you basically have to get someone in to do it all unless you have a mate who does these trades and will sign off for you. Thankfully you can still do foundations, framing, cladding and interiors yourself, but not for much longer I don't think.

Basically If you want to build your own house in this country you are fucked. I did it, but it was a mission and I caught the start of all the licencing bullshit.
>>
>>1130786
Oh and also, once you have paid your architect several thousand to draw up some spec bullshit you can find on the internet, because plans have to be done by a licensed architect, the council then need to approve it which can take anywhere from one to three months and costs between 4-8k for some cunt to stamp a few pages.

It comes off, but not as easily as peeling off a premade gasket. It's sticky as fuck and adheres well, and it'll handle your heat requirement since it holds at engine temperatures.

Hard to say if it will handle the weight of that thing as it's not designed to actually support a load, though. Wonder what the shear forces will do to it particularly when you're driving down a bumpy road. One way to find out I guess...

Hey /diy/,
I moved into a fixer-upper house last year, one where the fascia/soffit boards are in poor condition from carpenter bees, regular wear, and water. This in and of itself doesn't bother me much- I knew they would have to be replaced eventually.

What DOES bother me are the massive, and possibly multiple, colonies of wasps (I've found yellow and black and brownish/red type wasps) that have made their way between the boards. I sleep in my attic, and originally I thought they were coming in through an unfinished portion with gaps that led to the outside. I fixed the gaps and haven't seen any more wasps INSIDE my house, but I can't open the window nearest to the back of my house because I see them constantly flying on warm days. They've gotta go, but I'm pants-shittingly terrified that I'm going to pull the nails out where the tin roof is tacked on, pull off the board, and get fucking killed by a billion wasps.

Please help. Should I seek professional assistance, or can I rip that sucker out if the weather is cold enough and let exposure kill them?

Pic related, it's the soulless bitch that's hiding in my roof

Drill a hole through the exterior wall where you suspect the hive to be and spray a can of raid in.
>>
>>1130208

You mean through the soffit?
Is there a way to get a wide, rather than long, spray with that? I'm worried that the hive runs up and down the length of the boards and by killing a few of them I'll rile the rest. When they were getting into my attic, that was how they reacted, anyway.

Get a quality sprayer (pic) - cheap one won't work.

Fill the bottom reservoir with warm water. Add about 2 tablespoons of dawn (not "simply clean" bit the original ultra concentrate)

Go to town on any area the wasps might be. Use a mistier spray and they'll drop out of the air. Direct spray on nests.

It rips the pheromones off their bodies so they don't know wtf to do, and a combination of leeching and dehydration kills them shortly after.

Also, works great as a household cleaner (I haven't bought a name brand cleaner in years - just the mix and a microfiber) and you can mist nastier pots and pans before you start the dishes and they'll be loose when you get to them.

But back to the wasp issue - I'm a horticulturist, and this is what I use to fuck up wasps en masse.

If you're not worried about structure damage, you can use a 4 Tbsp mix or even just squirt pure dawn at trouble spots.

Don't use a bait trap. The bait attracts more than it kills.

Exposure WILL kill them, but take precautions and spray where you can before you put your dick in a guillotine.
