Hey everyone. I'm trying to find a button maker to use for cons and events and what not. I hope I'm on the right board. I've been looking at http://www.buttonsonline.com/model150ms_order_form.html and have heard good reviews from it. I'm hoping to get some genuine comments about the brand and if there's any better deals/coupons out there? Thank you!
Wrong board.

Recently picked up some sandpaper and expressed interest to a friend in picking up rock polishing and a week later they surprise me with a rotaty tool +314 tool accessories (pick related) and i have absolutely no clue how to even start. Can anyone point out a few things for a beginner or maybe point me to some online resource?
- put the various bits in and polish some rocks
- see what works
- go to hospital with rock splinter in eye
- recover and buy safety goggles
- polish more rocks
- go to hospital to treat for bronchitis
- buy safety mask and continue polishing your rocks
- go to hospital to treat for carpal-tunnel
- buy prosthetic and keep grinding away at rocks
- buy t-shirt, ''stay calm and grind your rocks off''
because you have been given a mission: to grind
most people end up dying without ever knowing their mission in life. you are not like them.

This is pure poetry
Are there any quick at-home alternatives for sandpaper?
I don't have any for myself at the moment and I can't go out and buy some until later
Paper with sand glued to it.
>>1233431
Yeah loads,
Toilet paper, newspaper, aluminium foil, wallpaper, bath towel, hardboard, there are loads.
Oh, wait, hang on,
WHAT IS THE FUCKING APPLICATION YOU NONCE

Concrete. Go rub whatever you want sanded on the pavement outside. If that's not precise enough then you're going to need some sandpaper.
Hi /diy/, I'm restoring an Edison chippendale diamond disc phonograph. I sanded it, and now i'm trying to clean off the wood with a damp rag, but it keeps picking up lots of green stuff that smells like paint, even though the player itself isn't green. My question is, is this varnish or "shellac" or something, and how much of this should I try to get off?
>>1233398
varnish or shellac or any sort of finish is not generally something that wipes off with a damp rag, meaning water. As long as the finish doesn't look any worse keep wiping until the "lots of green stuff" is wiped off. If you start changing the appearance in an undesirable way then maybe you should not wipe any more and go to the next step in your restoration project.
>>1233423
alright, thanks!
>>1233463
maybe you should sand down to bear wood
Hi guys. I have this stripped 8 gig USB stick. I'd like to install Tails on it and then conceal it into something inconspicuous. I'm not really a DIY person, but I do have a glue gun and a knockoff dremel rotary tool. Anyone here ever done something like this before? Any ideas or recommendations?
Put it up ur butt
>>1233226
A few options:
Drill a hole in the bottom of a table leg.
Vacuum seal it and bury it in the rocks at the bottom of an aquarium
Put it inside a Bic lighter.
If you are grill put it in a pack of tampons
Wrap it in electrical tape and put it inside an LED light bulb underneath the PCB
Put it underneath the fuse box in your car
Make a hollow cavity in the grip of a screwdriver with your Dremel and place it inside.
Inside your smoke detector
Inside an asthma inhaler (empty and cut the cylinder)
In a flashlight where you have replaced two 18650s with two 18350s and added a wire to make it function normally

I wanna build a rage cage for two fighters what material should I use for this?
>>1233189
You probably thinking chicken wire, but actually you can just tell them to fight in a bedroom, for example.
>>1233210
It needs to be thicker than chicken wire. Aboriginals are really strong when they want to be. I was thinking star pickets or something.

What's your budget?
Hey all, I'm new to this board, and I'm thinking about starting a woodworking side business.
I'd make various basic furniture pieces and small made-to-order things, birdhouses, cat trees, dog houses, anything else I can make at home without too many tools.
So my question to all of you is, what do I actually need to buy to get started?
I've used to be in a carpentry class back in high school, and I was certified for a few years, so I have a cursory knowledge of shit, but assume I'm retarded.
If you are building bird houses make sure to use a proper screw brand like mcginty
>>1232904
>I was certified for a few years
you were a certified carpenter for years and you don't know what tools you need to build a birdhouse? what exact sort of certifcation are we talking about here? something off the back of a snack container?

More, please!
Also, is there a sticky with this information?
I don't want to have a useless thread up :)
Hello, /diy/
tldr; help me identify this modchip please?
I was given a supposedly faulty PSOne by someone when I pointed out I'd like one. She forgot to give me the power adapter, so I haven't been able to test it, but since I've fixed small electronics before by disassembly and dumb cleaning/replacing what looks broken, and since I wanted to add a modchip, I figured I would take a look inside.
I didn't find anything broken, but I did find a modchip already in place, as well as simple wires soldered to the board on both ends. Surprising, since its previous owner hadn't mentioned it.
So to figure out how to use it and its capabilities/limitations I googled far and wide for various modchips matching the layout of this one. I find none.
It's a european (ie. PAL) PM-41 board (not "PM-41 (2)")
The modchip is labelled:
12C508A
04/P075
<logo> 0034
This leads me to believe it is programmed as a "MultiMode" v2/v3 chip OR "OneChip",, since both use that chip. However, I find no installation diagram with the same solder points in use - particularly for pin #8 (will post examples later) - so I suspect it might be neither.
I do find an old diagram that includes the wire near the modchip, soldered to the board on both ends, but its source is dead so I have no idea what it does. Some guides tell to connect the point closer to the modchip to its pin #5; some tell to connect BOTH points to pin #5.
I find absolutely no instruction on the wire soldered to the A/V output, but I suspect it has to do with color correction (because NTSC games that bypass region lock would play in black and white) and therefore that region locks are bypassable.
I'd like to find out what modchip I'm dealing with. I have no equipment to re-flash the chip or fetch its hex dump, but might DIY it given instructions.
Are there any /diy/nosaurs here with experience in this? I feel this is outside the scope of /g/'s competence, although technically it would be more appropriate there.
Insulation tape removed.
Closeup of modchip. I removed the tape adhesive using rubbing alcohol to see the labelling more clearly.
Closeup of the A/V-connected wire.
Heya /diy/ long time since posting...
I've started building a 3D print smoothing machine that has two reservoirs, one for acetone (for smoothing ABS) and the other for Dichloromethane (for PLA) that is swappable depending on what material the print is made from. automated with a revolving bed (stepper controlled) and timer. it's still in the semi-planning stages on how I lay the internals out. here's a few pics of what I have so far
>using mostly recycled components to cut costs.
I'll post more pics as I proceed with the build.
Here's the internals so far. Using ultrasonic misting units to atomize the chemicals and using a positive pressure reservoir blow the mist over the 3D print

Sweet.
I want distilled water in my home.
Not piped because I plan on moving but a source so I don't have to carry 5+ gallons back from the store every week.
I've looked at the home distillers and they do not satisfy me.
Either the voc collection/output is sketchy (tiny hole / carbon filter) or the entire concept is flawed (boil into single downward condensing coil)
I have come to the conclusion that a stainless steel moonshine still is the best option short of multiple distillations through a glass laboratory distiller.
This way I can use the still for other things such as essential oils and alcohol if I so choose.
Opinions?
Alternatives?
Thoughts?
I think the fractionating column will give me great results though i will probably install a valve before the condensing coil so I don't have to pump voc / methanol through the coil.
These things are garbage in comparison. Plasitc all over the place.
I know I will have some gaskets with the still but it is a much better option in my opinion.
And I can sell alcohol in the event of an apocalypse/government fall and make my own for medicinal use.

Reverse Osmosis Systems
Reverse Osmosis Systems use a process that reverses the flow of water in a natural process of osmosis so that water passes from a more concentrated solution to a more dilute solution through a semi-permeable membrane. Pre- and post-filters are often incorporated along with the reverse osmosis membrane itself.
A reverse osmosis filter has a pore size of approximately 0.0001 micron.
Reverse Osmosis Systems have a very high effectiveness in removing protozoa (for example, Cryptosporidium, Giardia);
Reverse Osmosis Systems have a very high effectiveness in removing bacteria (for example, Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli);
Reverse Osmosis Systems have a very high effectiveness in removing viruses (for example, Enteric, Hepatitis A, Norovirus, Rotavirus);
Reverse Osmosis Systems will remove common chemical contaminants (metal ions, aqueous salts), including sodium, chloride, copper, chromium, and lead; may reduce arsenic, fluoride, radium, sulfate, calcium, magnesium, potassium, nitrate, and phosphorous.
> How would you layout the following generic house
Requirements: 2 or 3 bed. 1 full bath. kitchen. living area.
>>1232685
I'd go with a second bath in the master, plus you left out the washer/dryer area.
Most houses are made so that all three br are grouped together, probably good if you have little kids, but with the master separate, you can put the kids to bed and not wake them if you need to "get busy" or just watch late night tv
Something like this, maybe
So diy/, I got scabies and as you know it itchies as fuck. I'm currently taking ivermectin (going to my third week) with variable results: in some places it went away (notably my penis) and on others it persists. I was searching for another medical treatments when I found out about sulfur ointments. The thing is I can't find it on my area and can't buy it online so I was thinking about doing it myself. So how do i make it? And being sulfur toxic what should I be aware of?
PS1:This is my first post here so I don't know if it's the right place.
PS2: I know nothing about chemistry.
Someone?
I got it once, because I used a used matress on the college dorm. Rookie mistake.
Fuck that. Two weeks of medication was more than enough.
I do not recommend sulfur oinments. But they are usually sold as suspension for old-school acne treatment. Just do NOT get hit by sunlight.
>>1232654
What medication did you use? What was the extension of your dicease? Describe in details your treatment (what have you done to your clothes/linen?)
What do you guys think about this design?
>>1232622
Has two more designs
Wtf is that some kind of handle
I'm not convinced its the most efficient prostate massager out there.
Or to put it another way, What do I think about this design? well, the complete lack of documentation detailing what it it, what material, what size, etc, is all rather indicative that the only thing to do is shove it up your arse....
Looking to make a globe with a vintage looking map on it. Any high res and or vector files for a flattened globe like pic?

Google image search seems to turn up plenty
I have a 3d printer, a bunch of foam board and some paints, with LEDs and other things.
I have to head off to a festival tomorrow afternoon, so lets say around 12 hours to print something off in the 3d printer. Anyone got any suitable "festival" costume ideas with mainly foam board and spray paint? Dont want anything over the top just something to get me into the mood. Didnt realise I was going till this morning.
The festival is one of those DIY/crafts/enviromental festivals, and Im a guy. Im quite handy, and didnt want to go for generic superhero/elf costume. Doesnt matter if its just a generic whatever costume as long as its not something thats been really overdone.
How about FaggotMan, leader of the Homosexual Heroes? You just need to 3D print a dragon dick and walk around with it in your mouth all day, I'm sure your street clothes are gay enough to pass as the rest of the costume
lol you ain't getting shit done if you only left yourself a day to make something
>>1232592
>so lets say around 12 hours to print something off in the 3d printer.
lol
i hope more retards have tragedies that they hope to solve with a 3d printer and just can't. this meme has to end and misfortune resulting from believing in the meme is the only way
