i got this motor from awashine machine i might had a capacitor.. i'm not sure.
i need help with the wiring, and speed control..

My wife once had a capacitor.
I threw that nigger loving bitch out.
>>
>>1170337
the label says 16µf, which is well in the range for a run capacitor, so go with that.

For speed control you'd need a variable frequency drive (vfd) which are not that cheap unfortunately
>>
>>1170337
Make sure it is properly grounded with the ground wire or the centrifugal switch may not engage properly and it will burn up super fast. So, if you fire it up and smell something in 2-5 seconds you know it isn't grounded properly. You know it will have a centrifugal switch when you turn it on and hear a loud slapping/clicking sound and when it is turned off.

Hi guys. So I live in the capital of a third world country.
That being said, nearly EVERYTIME it rains, my power goes out. Today it was out for literally 8 fucking hours.

I want to buy a propane generator, but the problem is I live in a studio apartment with no balcony, so it will be stolen.

Does anyone have any experience with solar powered generator ?

>when it rains it only goes for 2 hours on/ off max and is generally pretty sunny.

>>1170284
You can get a solar cell and a couple of batteries to run an inverter, It won't allow you to cook or use great amounts of energy, but at least it will power your lights, laptop, etc...

Although you should be careful as where to install them, since they might also get stolen.
>>
>>1170288

Really? I had no idea about this. It sounds a lot cheaper.

So I can get a solar cell and attach it to a car battery, and from there just run an a/c outlet ?
>>
>>1170297
Not directly, a battery is DC.

You would have to change it into AC.

I bought a temperature/humidity sensor (SHT75) for a project I am working on, but I didn't read the data sheet carefully enough, as I thought that the pitch was 0.100", however in reality it was half of that.

I thought of bending every second one in a different direction and using two standard headers, but the pins are too flat and won't stay in. I could just solder some wire to the pins, but according to the data sheet soldering is not a good idea.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to reliably make a (DYI) connection to this thing?

>>
>>1170254
Soldering should be fine if you're not using lead-free solder and the prerequisite higher temperature. If you're quick with some flux-core leaded solder, you'll leave a clean joint without heating the board up too much, which doesn't look like it will be a problem anyway by the looks of the board. If you're still worried and/or the board has some sensitive-looking components on the underside, I'd look for an extension lead or something that you can cut one end off and solder on to. On the other hand, if you think it's warning you not to solder because it will mess with the (analogue?) signal, then I'd scour the net for an adapter.
>>
>>1170260
Thanks for the answer. The data sheet says that "For maintain high accuracy specifications the sensor shall not be soldered", but also goes on to say to treat it in a humid environment if soldering is used, so I'm not sure of the exact effects of the heat. I need to measure very low humidity levels, so I didn't want to risk lowering the accuracy.

Maybe I will try to do as you suggested, and solder an extension lead to it.
>>
>>1170281
My suggestion was to plug the sensor board's pins into a socket of some sort of extension lead, and solder that into the main board, not the other way around. But seriously, the pins on the board itself are soldered in the first place, and I bet you can get a colder joint with leaded solder and a quick hand than a wave/reflow automated soldering station could do with 95% tin, those traces will barely transmit heat.

I would like to build a squat rack from wood at home. I would like to know how to make the adjustable pegs to hold the bar, what kind of wood and screws to use, how to build a frame that would be sturdy enough to support the weight of the bar, and what kind of tools/materials I would need.

>>
Well, your pic can be made with a saw and a drill and some wood glue. It's made of pine. Just standard framing wood from hardware store.

Probably want to make it sturdier than pic related though. I bet that thing flexes around a bit when the weight is on the top pegs. It's the construction of the top part of the frame that concerns me.
>>
>>1170173
That frame looks good.

I would reinforce it with some lag bolts and metals plates on the joints, but otherwise it's fine. Most people never squat more than 200-300 pounds anyway. The pace is slow during a squat, so you're not even generating that much kinetic energy either.

Have pic related, Kenwood KA-A10. Just noticed over weekend that one channel is very low output (virtually dead); the remaining channel has what sounds like "clipping distortion" where at high output it breaks up.

Will running through this unit and changing out the electrolytic capacitors have a reasonable-to-high chance of fixing this thing?

I'm on the fence on whether to attempt a fix; I can prototype and build circuits, and do the solder work, but historically have about 50% chance in fixing any circuit I dig into, and chance are better if I know what issue is up front/is obvious. If it's not the caps chances are I won't be able to figure out the issue unless something is obviously burnt.

Clean out all the sound controls before you do anything on the circuit board. In my experience, most problems can be fixed just by cleaning out the controls.
>>
>>1170061
The volume control has prior issue... static when it's moved. I usually clean by turning off and running back and forth a few times... I'll check that first.

>>
>>1169790
Very difficult. For birds, maybe some cardboard cutouts of prey birds on stick around the tree would help.
I have no idea what do you have against squirrels, though. I'm pretty sure they don't eat peach.
>>
>>1169899
That's a good idea, hopefully that'll keep them away. As for the squirrels, yes, they do eat peach. I've seen the little suckers run up to the tree and start nibbling them until I shoo them away.

I have the pocket holster in pic related.
Works surprisingly well, but doesnt hide the gun in your jeans pocket well.
It prints a definite triangular "gun in your pocket" look
There is a 10mm or so difference in thickness from the hook outwards to where it would be flush with the guns thickness.

I want to glue some sort of 10mm material cut to the shape of the hook on both sides so that the holster will be flush with the gun.
It will still function the same way, just will be much more uniform in the pocket and look like a wallet or phone or something other than a gun. Right now it tilts the gun exaggerating the contours and drapes your pocket over it.

What materials would you use? Im having a hard time coming up with something

if you want a .com or other domain, you have to buy it. try namecheap.com. then set the dns to resolve the domain to your public ip address.

assuming you're on a domestic cable or dsl connection, you have to configure your router to port forward incoming connections to the server on your local network. some isps block incoming port 80, so you can try getting a letsencrypt cert and configuring apache for tls on port 443 instead.

or you can ignore all of this and access your server directly via its ip address.

So a few friends and me have this really cool location we intend to make into a workshop/garage and a place to hang out. Problem is, that the walls are about a hundred years old, and water seeps in.

So I came up with this concept for making it dry and proving new, nice walls.

The idea is simple enough: place anchor bolts at appropriate distance, add rebar and fasten it to the anchors along with 2x4'' planks or similar, then add an outside retainer, that creates a void, which in turn is filled with concrete.

On "paper" it seems sound, no? But its based on a few assumptions which may or may not be correct.
>one can simply pour concrete onto the old wall
>concrete is waterproof
>it will be waterproof down to the existing floor

How far off am I? Please do shoot me, so to speak. I've never worked with this material before, so any criticism is welcome.

>>
Look up 'basement waterproofing' on Google.

There are many functional options, and yours isn't one of them.
>>
>>1169548
Doesnt sound right to me. Exactly how much concrete will that work out (size of wall x depth of cavity). You dont see that many poured concrete walls, they are usually prefabricated if so. We just did a huge pour in an above ground canal but it was only 4 foot by 4 foot.

Can you stop the water at the other side of the wall or is it a cave?

Where is the water coming from, just hiding it behind a new wall sounds a bit of a temporary fix.
>>
dig out existing ground outside wall
install drain
waterproof wall on outside
fill back in

I want to make myself a baseball cap, or many depending on how the first one turns out.

I want to make it out of ripstop material, basic 6 panel design is what I'm going after, style as pic related.

I have access to a sewing machine, and I know where to get my fabric, but I wanted to ask if there is anyone with any advice or experience they'd like to share. I'm unsure of how to go about making the vent holes in the panels, or attaching the brim to the cap. I'm currently scouring the internet for information as well

Thanks guys

lamp.jpg

I've achieved a nice amber/golden lighting with a mere table lamp in my bedroom, but can't seem to duplicate this anywhere else.

Let me explain.
The forementioned lighting effect in my room is due to the colour of the lampshade I'm using.
Not the outside either, I'm talking about the colour of the inside.

In pic related you can see there is a plastic lining on the inside of the lamp, if you look through the hole in the top of the lampshade.

Well it just so happens that the colour of this plastic lining on the lamp that I own has a yellowish tint, and thus it paints the room in a warm amber glow.

The problem is, I've visited about 5 different stores, and literally all of the lampshades I've seen have a white inner lining. In fact when looking for a lampshade online, the colour of the inner lining isn't even written anywhere, because there is no option for such a thing, because they're all white.

So how do I go about achieving this lighting in another room? Would buying a white lampshade and colouring the inside with a yellow marker work? Or do I have to do something else entirely.
Any help is appreciated.

go to a thrift/secondhand/antique/goodwill/whatever store, place be full of yellowed and mellowed on the inside lampshades. And forget what the lamp itself looks like, you only need the shade, can attach that to whatever lamp you like. Also vintage bulbs would generally have a more yellowish tone (vintage manufactured, not vintage used, obv.) - you get new 'toned' bulbs, but, they all crap, more or less. tldr, either find a source with a few crates of old bulbs (and I'll take best offers..), or, second-hand the lampshade, that'll work.
>>
Shellac comes in different shades, I'd try that.

different lamp shades have different size rings tho
Just yesterday I bought a lamp and the ring on the lampshade i bought for it was too small to fit on it

Check Crown Vic forums because the conversion of a car which never came with a manual box will involve finding/fabbing a clutch pedal mount etc.

http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php

Google is fucking amazing. Why u no use? Time to learn there is moar internet than /b/...

Google this and all will be answered.

>crown vic manual transmission swap

4chan is not a Crown Vic or Panther forum. I have now filled my /spoonfeed/ quota for the day.

I know poeple swap a p41 into a 5.0 don't know about a 4.6 though
>>

This.

But yea nah, you need a t-45 from a late 90's 4.6l mustang gt. I hope you can weld because you're going to have to fab a pedal assembly, trans mounts and have a drive shaft spacer machined or cnc cut.
