i want one streamlined for plastic. its best to crush plastic bottles along the middle, not accordion style as with metal.. and if it had a needle to make an air hole that would be a help, and a rapid loading, or magazine action.. i discovered plastic water and coke bottles will stay crushed under foot.

>i want one streamlined for plastic
So get designing faggot. You gunna demand we build it for you as well?
If you just want to flatten the bottles, you can try a roller press. A 1/4" gap between the rollers and teeth or studs on the rollers to pull the bottles down into it.

I have a laser printer and I would like to print transparent decal stickers for street art. I would like for them to be of decent quality so that they don't get ruined in rain and such. At this point I'm looking to buy decal paper for laser printers, but for some of them the application requires submersion into water right before application so that's not really suitable. I also don't know which of the brands is best nor if any of them coupled with my printer would produce acceptable results. Any advice?
>>1173252
Laminate with clear vinyl after sticker is applied- won't matter what you used to make the sticker with.
>>1173285
Can you elaborate on that? Can I apply it right on the printouts? Also, Is clear vinyl reflective? It may not look the best if sunlight diminishes how vivid it looks.
what i did
bought laser printable vinyl
printed them using m,y laser printer
ran them through my laminater
cut them all out afterwords , they cam out p good
My downstairs neighbor has stopped going outside to smoke. Until I can (or if I cannot) convince them to smoke only outside, what do you think will be the most effective way to keep my apartment smoke free?
I'm fairly certain the smokes main ingress is the shared stairwell (far right) and and water-heater closet (shared pipes) because Room 3 gets the most smoke.
Room 1 is where I sleep, this tends to stay smoke-free if I keep the door closed.
Room 2 is my computer/workbench this is usually OK but I tend to keep the door open so it gets some smoke.
Room 3 is the main living area and gets the most smoke.
I currently have a fan in each window in Room 3 blowing inward in an attempt to both drive the smoke out and create positive pressure to keep out new smoke.
What state do you live in?
>>1173162
MA
I'm not sure on all the rules for Smoke Free Housing and I don't want to take this as far as legal action.
I'm probably moving out in the next few months anyways. I just want smoke gone now.
>>1173165
Ok. In that case, Move the fans from room 3 to room 1, 2 and 4. You're on the right track with positive pressure but need to include all the rooms so the pressure in room 3 doesn't cause smoke to blow into 1, 2 or 4.
What is this /b why is this growths doing on my little pine tree?

Looks like a mature form of fungus to me. What's the region?
Help me /g/uys,
I have been hired by a medium sized company to do some work. However, most of there networking is messed up because of a really shit AD setup. They have on DC with a god awful IP that makes everything difficult.
Its been a long time since I worked with AD, but I don't think changing IP's in the primary domain controller and DNS server is going to be fun.
AD management isn't really my job, but I see the current implementation as a huge stumbling block. As such, I'm really looking for the most elegant solution available.
Is it better to fight the current DC, or just work on building a new one on a bleeding edge server? Any documentation or support would be greatly appreciated.
>>1173078
Just rebuild the AD with a PCO I/I socket setup. You can bypass the RCOP scan with a DIM process inverter and clear any HAVI errors with your APE-RAPE debugger.
You do have and APE-RAPE debugger, right? You'll never make it in this business without one. They'll hit you with all kinds of FAG requests, and all you'll be able to return is the SUCC.

>AD with a PCO I/I socket setup. You can bypass the RCOP scan with a DIM process inverter and clear any HAVI errors with your APE-RAPE
Thats some first class bullshit right there!
Well done anon!

That is selling for a lot because it is rare as fuck. It is not being sold to construction workers, it is being sold to collectors. While they are asking way more than I've ever seen one sell for I have seen them sell for $150+ American.

So i have this mini strobe led, it haves a potentiometer that determines how frequent is the flashing, what i want to do is to stop the flashing and make the led only go off and on.
any idea on how to do that?
>>1172943
Does the IC say something like LM555 on it?
I'm thinking it's just a 555 timer sending a signal to switch those shitty little transistors off and on. Also mains power going into that fucking thing, are you kidding me?
You can find out where the output of the 'power supply' part is, bypass the timer circuit by cutting traces going to it and then hard wiring the output of the power supply to a switch and into the LED array.
>>1172944
where should it say LM555?
whats the problem with the main power going there?
>>1172943
You'll probably have to redesign the circuit a little. Chances are good that each one of the flashes delivers much more current than the leds can handle, but they survive because of the low duty cycle. Pretty common technique to get higher brightness actually.
If you want them to run continually, you will have to adjust the current down to a reasonable level, which means the leds won't be as bright, but they can stay on continuously.
I love in south FL and wanna grow my own coca tree.
How do?
Looks like I can buy a starter plant pretty cheap.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/302253500950
That person is also selling a red one, whats the difference?
Can I make cocaine from it too or is that a different tree?
>>1172361
kek m8 it's a different plant altogether
You're looking at cacao/cocoa, which is the plant used to make chocolate and chocolate based shit.
You'll find the difference in flavour between different coloured trees.
Cocaine is made from the leaves of the coca plant, and it's illegal to even own/grow in the States.
>>1172361
Even prison time
>>1172361
So jelly of your climate zone.
I don't know anything about coca and how to care for it, you will have to look that up. Generally the most difficult part is waiting for stuff to grow. It could take years before you get your first pods. I would suggest planting a lot of different trees/plants at once so there is a big payoff after the wait. If I were in your climate zone I would definitely look into growing mango, citrus fruit (orange, kumquat, tangerine), physalis, pears, pomegranate etc. Also note that most fruit is propegated from roots rather than from seed. If you grow from seed, you will get some random unknown genetic variation. So basically you have to buy a plant
I found this: http://the-knowledge.org/en-gb/apocalypse-proof-kindle/
but I wanna know if there's any better DIY, with maybe a larger screen or ability to view PDFs and html files as well
Geez, if we only had a physical version of digital books that did not require power to read...
Either that or get a hand crank generator and a capacitor bank, since batteries will be gone after the first decade.
>>1172283
obviously physical is the ideal option but there's a lot of info on the internet that you would need to waste a shitload of money printing it all
>>1172364

Has anyone tried making one of those DIY Evaporative Cooler/Swamp Cooler things?
I'm looking at tutorials like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxSLbpAwibg
But I've been reading that it doesn't actually cool down a room at all; you have to be facing it, which kinda sucks if I want to be moving around my room without hitting a miasma of heat outside of my cone of solitude.
My area hits ~90-100 in the day with 20-30% humidity, so it seems like this should work, but I'm still not sure if this cooler will lower my room temperature significantly.
Thanks for any advice you guys can offer.
>>1172075
if the water is cold it will cool the room down
>>1172075
I made one of these last year anon, it didn't work for shit.
Sorry for the bad photo. Honestly I don't think it made a difference in temperature and it was even in a small room (around 300sq ft)
One thing that I want to try at some point is to take a box fan, some copper piping, a 5 gal bucket, and a small water pump. Coil the copper pipe around the front (exhaust) of the box fan and run ice water through it. The ice water would be inside the bucket and the pump would run the water.
It may just be easier to buy an actual portable AC at that point though.
>>1172075
Evaporative coolers work by... evaporation. Water absorbs heat as it turns from a liquid to a gas (several times the heat needed to raise its temperature from the freezing to the boiling point as a liquid). This increases the humidity of the air, which impairs cooling off via sweat. Considering cooling off with sweat alone, it's a wash - the lowered temperature is exactly offset by the increased difficulty of further evaporation. However, heat is also lost through conduction, and a lower absolute temperature increases this loss. This can be pretty significant in your case since the air temp is about the same as body temp, meaning little or no net conductive loss of heat. Circulating air (as with a regular fan) and exposed skin can help increase heat loss through both conduction and sweating.
Metal finishing and restoration thread?
Pair of forks I started on. 80-400 grit dry silicon carbide sandpaper for removing the remainder of a 40 year old clear coat, leveling dings from pebbles and such, 600-1500 with wet aluminum oxide sandpaper then buffed with mothers mag and aluminum.
Will take a dremel to the bottom to clear them up.
No photos, but I'm doing the same thing on the front fork of a 1972 moped that I believe was stored in a pond.
I'm considering death.
>>1171992
Wouldn't a buffing wheel on a bench grinder with different buffing compounds have been faster and easier?
Either way, fantastic job!
op, i hope you don't ride with those in any weather and if you do that you wax the shit out of them or find a very good epoxy clear coat
if you just polish and wax, that'll help but it's bound to salt and corrode if you don't keep up with it
i'd clear the forks, it will dull the finish slightly but you can't use just any old shit unless you don't care about redoing them every couple years. not sure what the factories used but it's pretty tough
I was looking for some advice on what I could do with my back yard. It's quite a big open space that I'm not really doing anything with at the moment.
Right now it looks like shit because the previous owner put in shitty soil infested with creeping charlie weed and it ran amok for over a year. I spent many hours last fall raking it out by hand with a thatch rake because I didn't wanna use chemicals. I re-seeded my lawn a few weeks ago but the fucking snake oil grass seed didn't take and now this fucking weed is starting to grow back and I'm at my wits end.
I was wondering if there was a good alternative that I could plant other than grass that looks decent, is low maintenance (never has to be cut preferable), and will overtake off weeds?
One thing I'm maybe considering is moss. There's a patch of it growing in the shade next to the tool shed and looks pretty dope but my guess is it won't grow well in the sunnier sides of the lawn.
Other than my weed problem, does anybody have any suggestions on what I should do with all this space? One thing I know I wanna do is put a little garden in against the garage. Only problem is there is pine tree shrub that is sort of in the way and they make the dirt really acidic. But I've been told that's good for blue berries so I might try to plant blue berries around it and other plants everywhere else.
Open to suggestions.
Here's a pic where of where I wanna put the garden down. I'm thinking I might do put chicken wire up all the way along the side of the garage and plant things to crawl up it like peas and maybe tomatoes.
Here's a view from the 2nd story house. Everything in view here are the sunny sides of the lawn, everything not in the picture is usually in the shade.
Fuck grass and make 2 12x12 raised garden beds and cover the rest with pea gravel. Anything that grows thru it you take a propane torch to once a year while enjoying your fruits and veggies
Hi /diy/,
long story short - I found my Maglite Mini LED in my drawer today. Apparently, it was somehow in the "on" position for a long time, so the battery inside has been drained... and did that nasty thing all of you know. Pic related.
How do I even get that battery out. Is that even possible?
Thanks in advance.
>>1171610
fill it with vinegar to break the corrosion loose
tap it out with an appropriate sized dowel
clean it thoroughly after the battery is out
>>1171704
this
or
a bowl of citric acid and water, then soak it
>>1171610
are they copper top duracells? those are the only batteries i've ever used that would leak/swell so they couldn't be removed. even the shitty dollar store alkalines and carbon zincs wouldn't do that
Okay so I got one of those polish gas masks called the OM-14. The filter is called the E-014 filter. It was made in 1985. Now I've heard it has asbestos in it, so I need to know how to make a replica one for cheap. If anyone has links to a real filter that looks like the original that isn't poisonous, then pls link that.
>>1171435
The only way asbestos would be a problem is catastrophic canister failure. You would notice the carbon leaking.
But what about all the people who got severe cancer link to asbestos like ww2 vets?
>>1171476
They didn't get it from gas masks. It was mostly in insulation. The old style of canister was available and in use up until the early 2000s.
