I was only working with him for this project. Not that surprising.

Due to the fact that Japan is still (compared to most western countries) much more discriminatory towards women (or traditional, whatever you want to frame it as) it still has a lot of clichés/tropes about what the perfect woman ought to do which can be applied 1-to-1 to forced feminization as a way to "emasculate" the guy.

One of them is hairstyles. There a bunch of stereotypical "female" haircuts (just like in the west) but the separation of where the lines are drawn is cranked up to eleven.

While that is true, wigs of such quality do not come for cheap and learning to use them properly would take a long time so unless you have someone being a professional (or a cosplayer with experience) introducing the trap-to-be on how to properly take care of them (or doing it for the trap) then, again, it just seems like a cheap copout.

I feel the same way when they suddenly know how to magically apply perfect make-up overnight.
It feels extremely lazy and takes you out of the story.

Either that or you have western authors who want to deliberately make them look like a guy in drag rather than turning them into a perfect trap.
