How does this make any sense? The entire appeal of the Oculus Rift has been that it will be *consumer level* VR. Their whole existence these last few years has been predicated on the idea that VR is going to be the next big thing.

Now it costs more than a console. GG. If not for VR devices in general (is this an indication that the other devices will be similarly priced?), than certainly for the Oculus Rift's market share.

Basically, VR was always going to be expensive enough - both in terms of the device itself, and in terms of the hardware requirements to use it with modern games - that it would have a slow market growth. This is just going to slow it down even more. Less people buying it, which leads to less people developing for it, which leads to less people buying it ... and so on.

Who wants to drop $600 on a novelty device that has reasonably demanding hardware requirements and which very few games support? Answer: a VERY small portion of the market.

I don't actually think it's possible for someone to put up a translation of this unless that someone had access to the source data (so YDNKM I guess) because there's no data folder to work with and it's just baked into the .exe.

I'm honestly unsure of the whole giantess thing getting more well known. On one hand, it'll mean more artist, more chances to do fun RPs with those into it for both the fetish and just enjoying size difference itself, and also push for new content.

I'm -really- hoping the con doesn't happen, as then people will straight up get the wrong idea. I've found that machine translation can be surprisingly effective at these games for the size scenes at least. It's very easy to understand what the intended message is if you know the patterns to look for in the output.

Machine translation, if used correctly, can get things mostly correct I found. Where it tends to screw up are any slang/idioms/turn of phrase. Vulgar words are hit or miss as are Japanese onomatopoeia.

What I mean by context-editing, is manually going through and fixing the borked grammar using context (since I do not read or speak Japanese anymore) and adding words to fill the gap that the translator(s) simply can't get right.

It was basically using Google Translates mobile photo translator, translating photos of the game, copying that Japanese text, then running it through several translators to get a good understanding of what it is saying.

It is time consuming, and thankfully it was a quiet day, or I wouldn't have bothered. But the text was nice a big and bright making image capture possible, so the hardest part was easy this time.

The ratio of good:bad would certainly be worse, but overall, I think it's reasonable to argue that the overall amount of "good" would increase. The ratio has always been pretty depressing, but even so, it's currently pretty easy to separate the wheat from the chaff when making the rounds on the various websites. I guess the point I'm making is that I'm willing to spend a little be longer sorting through it all if it means I leave with more, better work overall.

I'm just not sure how accurate this is though. Aside from furry stuff (which is easily more known in the public realm than size stuff), the other things you mentioned are "realistic" fetishes, things you can actually properly engage in. Hell, you could argue that the furry stuff is easier to engage with than size stuff, because there are no equivalent "giantess"/"shrinkee" suits we could wear around IRL, etc. (And thank-fucking-Christ for that!) It's something we have to do entirely within our head.

Yeah, the game is made with RPGMaker MV. Unlike the previous versions MV doesn't do anything really special to encrypt the games now so it's stupidly easy to decrypt. I just fed the data files back into MV and now I'm replacing the text the same way Ochiko put it in.

If I must be honest you are a much better translator than I. I would have just done a direct translation so it would have read a little bland but you managed to spice up the script rather well. I can't speak for anyone else, but the issue isn't that I "hate" her. Quite the opposite - she seems to be quite a lovely, genuine person who is super enthusiastic about the size fetishes, and is bending over backwards to try to expand the real-world interaction between fans.

The big issue here are the methods and consequences of that real-word interaction. Nobody had any real issues when she started the NYC Size Meetups a year ago - it was a small affair, any like minded size fetishists were welcome to show up, etc. By all accounts, it was an overwhelming success. Nobody ever complained about it in these threads as far as I can remember.

The problems started arising with SizeCon. Plenty of people were simply opposed to the idea (I'd argue that most of the opposition was kinda dumb, but that's neither here nor there), but I wasn't immediately one of them. The issue was that the event was a joke. They went from simple little meetups in the park between a dozen or so people to wanting to organise a 100-200 people "convention" complete with a myriad of invited guests, panel discussions, interactive exhibits, etc, in only a few short months. They didn't properly canvas the community ahead of time, and so woefully underestimated interest. They held a fundraiser that was seemingly based on mathematics that literally didn't even make sense. They went a bit over the top with trying to inject internet-SJW-ish concepts into everything. And so on.

They wanted to create an event FOR the community. But they didn't even do the most basic canvasing OF the community ahead of time. And so, the community swatted the idea down. They squandered what good will they had built up over the last year. It's a shame, because it might have been an interesting event if they had just treated it as a slightly larger meet-up.

I think Jit's handling of SizeCon is worthy of the above criticism.

As for the "size dysphoria" stuff, it's just a bit too precious. Humans can't be 6 inches tall. Jitensha wasn't "born into the wrong body" in terms of not being a Barbie doll. Because that's not a thing that can happen. She just REALLY likes her fetish, and wants to include it in more and more of her personal life. Fine, whatever, each to their own.

The complaint is that she just keeps talking about it as if it's some settled thing, and seems to want to apply it around the "community". She wanted to hold some "living with size dysphoria" panel into SizeCon, for example. And given all the "anti-harassment" stuff they were throwing everywhere, you can bet that any discussions suggesting that size dysphoria isn't actually a real thing (because it isn't) would probably have been deemed "harassment". A lot of folks here were worried that this might be the start of some attempt to inject the size "community" with a lot of SJW terminology and practices ... just look at Jit's recent posts about feminism over on Giantess City. I think we do have some issues worth discussing in this arena, but this was a far cry from addressing it in any constructive manner.

And there are a few other bits and pieces we've discussed recently that probably aren't worth going into here.

Overall, he issue isn't that Jitensha is a "bad" person or anything of the sort. It's just that she's been saying/doing some dumb stuff lately. And it's dumb stuff on the "community" level.

Perhaps. But I read the Reddit AMA by the Oculus Rift guy a few days ago that more-or-less backed up my argument. Rift isn't aimed at a general consumer base, it's aimed at PC enthusiasts. It's not just that the Rift is too expensive for the average user, it's that the PC hardware recommended is also too expensive.

They've making a niche, gimmicky piece of tech. And that's fine. It's just that the PR push has, for years, been that it's going to be average-consumer level. The PR push has been "it will cost around $350" for a while now. People aren't pissed because just because it's too expensive, they're pissed because it's roughly double the price it was advertised as.

So other VR units may be cheaper, but less "good". Ok, sure, standard affair. Maybe this will help prevent VR from a slow die off. But at the very least, the price of the Oculus has now primed the market. The cheaper models aren't going to be "cheap" - they're going to be expensive as they can get away with while trying to look cheaper than the competitors.

If VR is really going to be the future, it needs to get good circulation, and it needs non-gimmicky killer apps. Keeping it at a price point which actively hinders both of these seems ... questionable. Especially when they COULD sell the various components piecemeal. Offer just a basic model with the VR headset to get feet in the door, etc.

I was excited for the Oculus Rift. I wanted to get one of the DR2 kits, but kept holding off because news of the full version has been "around the corner" for months. And now, it's more expensive than a console. Guess I'll be waiting to see what the market does before I get one of these VR devices.

I think it's important to consider that the Oculus is among the first of its kind. At least, for the consumer market. This means it has one of the biggest responsibilities for a platform: its foundation.

Being among the first of its kind kinda has to be pricey else if it turns out VR doesn't work out, it still has what little money it made from the high price tag.

I don't mind the price in and of itself. It's the fact that they have been advertising for years that it was going to be a ~$350 unit, and that they were seeing it as some big revolution in mainstream gaming.

Then they announced that the price was going to be doubled.

It's that the announcement flies in the face of the earlier PR that everyone is so annoyed by. Not just because they WERE giving a ~$350 price tag earlier, but because it makes everyone more skeptical to buy in from the start. More expensive = less people wanting to throw down the cash = less support = less people thinking it's worth having, and so on. It has already had this effect on me - I was planning on buying one near launch, but now I'd prefer to hold off and wait to see what the market does, how the competitors compare, etc.

It just seems as though the "VR revolution" has started off on shaky legs. Which is a shame, because the unit might be fantastic!

The sudden price spike was a mistake, sure. They certainly could've done themselves a favor by easing people into it.
However, the dev did say they wouldn't actually make any money on the thing if it was just the single headset. There weren't any other options for a profit than a bundle offer. This happens with consoles too, launch title bundles are a lot more expensive than just the console themselves.
No doubt with time, like the nextgen consoles, when they offer just the headset by itself, it'll be a lot cheaper.

Sure. My point in the earlier post was, why is the bundle the only option? You absolutely DON'T need the games to use the thing, there already exist a ton of different Oculus ready aps and games. The games are nice - and I'm sure most people would want them - but they're not an absolute requirement. Same thing with the Xbone controller - a significant portion of gamers already own one, why would they need another? (And surely it would make sense to have it backwards compatible with the xbox360 controller, which is even more widespread?)

Why isn't there an option to buy the components piecemeal? Just the headset and sensor should be enough for a fairly reasonable number of consumers.

But this raises a MASSIVE red flag. The "VR revolution" can't make money unless it's given a somewhat price hike with, let's face it, optional accessories bundled together to artificially raise the profit margin? It doesn't inspire confidence.

If the essential parts of the product are not profitable, they simply need to hope they can keep their heads above water until they reach some critical mass (the product finally does become super popular; or they get far enough into the development cycle that manufacturing costs drop sufficiently).

Right. But they actually have a solid business model that supports this (eg. the games themselves cover the cost of the loses on the at-launch hardware). The Oculus Rift is basically hardware only; the hardware needs to be profitable ASAP.

Hey sizefags, I've recently been using thought up scenarios as material and I thought I could try making a story out of one of those scenarios for the fuck of it, because I've never tried it before.

The idea of an episodic format fits the idea, and we need more armpits/bellybuttons.

The main problem I have with the idea is that there's no motivation or personality mentioned for the teacher - I'd need either of those to really stick with it beyond a chapter or two, unless there's another gimmick.

If it's your first try, do a one-shot quickie and only include one or two forms of interaction. Continue it for later days if you like the results. In general, don't let focusing on "all the good shit" override your focus on "shit that I enjoy" or "shit that fits in the plot", and don't let quantity override quality. Remember, you're not writing for other people: you're writing for yourself, and you're writing what you'd like. If you're only writing so that other people to give a fuck, then writing more "mainstream" porn would get more attention. Don't let other people's desires or opinions get in the way of the story you want to tell.

I feel like writing some bullshit but I can't decide between which premise so I figured I'd have you guys pick.

1. Post apocalyptic setting where a man made unfinished mutant strain gets accidentally released and kills most of the worlds population. Among the survivors is a few people who reacted to the strain like it was intended to, growing giant and becoming what was supposed to be super soldiers. Main character is a power hungry and sadistic woman whose abusing her new size to create and lead a large group of survivors. Story will mostly focus on her expanding her domain and fighting rival giants/giantess.

2. Typical fantasy setting that follows a tough amazon that gets captured by a not-roman empire and forced to fight in gladiator arenas and their wars. Amazon was blessed by her goddess at birth which causes her to grow significantly over the course of the story. Eventually she will get her revenge (or not?)

3. Another fantasy setting where a goddess inherits her mothers title as the Goddess of Love. To avoid having to marry another god as per customs she claims she's fallen in love with a mortal man. Her mom doesn't believe her so she forces her to prove it by casting her down to the world where she gets into wacky hi-jinks while trying to live among tiny humans. A lot more gentle than the other stories.

4. Set in an alternate world where people can grow to huge sizes. Most remain smaller than 50 feet while a few lucky ones grow to near giga sizes. The main character is actually a trap who gets a late massive growth spurt. The story follows him as he gets the attention of bigger women and turned into a boy toy that's passed around the rich.

As mentioned above, I personally like all the listed themes, so that is of no concern to me. I was more hinting at the issue that personally, just thinking of it on the spot is enough for me, but to write it all out I would like at least have some people be interested.

Like I said, it's just a "rough outline" for now, but as said above again, I would like to go for a sadistic/more playful personality, the motivation being to pleasure herself with the immorality of using her students.

Welp. The gist is that for over 100 yen a month you can submit your own ideas for the mangas (Microne Magazine), have the protagonist be named after yourself (what) with a girl of your choosing etc., and get a pretty unreleased size picture from some irafyou VN.
For over 500 yen a month you can submit entire storyboards for the mangas, see past storyboards /productions etc. of MMs, and submit a fucking VN concept, complete with voice acting and all.

I imagine none of this is "guranateed" as much as "we'll read your opinion and maybe consider it".

It's literally how the game ends, there was never a CG before from Junny, hence what they're obviously teasing as part of the Patreon.

The last scene of Mimosa is Shinji on train home from the countryside, having not been given the "shrink antidote", but rather having a growth formula administered to him. But then Lucia ends up stalking them and trying to interfere and Haru trips and douses her with the growth liquid and the game ends as she outgrows the train and her clothes with Shinji and co running away
