I'll give an explanation I posted some time ago.

Most traps or crossdressing images you see out there are made for the majority who feel attraction towards the trap itself. Then there's the much smaller crowd who likes traps as a form of feminization that they can apply to their own lives. It's hard to put themselves in the trap's position when you see them being so casual and accepting about what's going on. Them being embarrassed or forced into it solves this problem.

The way I like it best is when you know the story or exact reason behind why the character was forced into crossdressing, so that you can better project yourself onto them.

The humiliation aspect is also something that gets me.

To a lot of people, part of the appeal to this is similar in nature to how a girl being made to dress up in an embarassing outfit (not even for sexual reasons, just being dragged along to cosplay somewhere without having been informed beforehand) but applied to guys.

There are several layers at play here in the case of a guy who has this fantasy, some (if not several) of which might actually run counter to what a trans might be confortable with:
- Crossdressing and the associated taboo obviously (as opposed to a trans for whom it's just "dressing"). There is a bit of an exhibitionist thrill going on there or to be less "sexual" just a thrill of breaking with societal norm, especially if you can pull it off well (even if you were forced into it).
- The "forced" part can work on several levels, there isn't a clear-cut definition. Some people associate it with going into NTR territory while others just have it as a femdom element (to spice things up or full dominatrix) while others just use it in a very blasé fashion where a guy that was already effeminate-looking gets into a situation where he feels he's in a situation that he needs to go along with it (there a few manga plots, hentai or not, about such a trappy guy helping out his sister/childhood friend/girlfriend whom he looks alike quite a bit for a comic convention, job, etc as a female model/waitress/etc out of a sense of it being "right" to help out that way). Meaning without that person being in need of a "female help" but not finding one he wouldn't have agreed to it or ever considered crossdressing before but he's still unconfortable about it (at least in the first chapters, he might get used to it)
- Because of this huge variance you can have stories which are incredibly abusive or very sweet ones where the incident is treated as "normal" and at the end the girlfriend thanks and rewards the trap
