Hey /d/, I know I'm cheating since the original pic had a lot of light-work to draw from, but how is this for a coloring attempt?
>>5772196
why is her dick head pastel baby pink
>>5772202
why should't it?
>>5772205
Because a glans that has been protected by the foreskin should have a darker, ruby color to it. discoloration is due to circumcision and the formation of a layer of keratin.
>>5772196
Better than any coloring attempts I could do. I just can't figure out shading.
>>5772196
Go to /ic/ or at the very least the drawthread.

if you guys post line art, i "might'' color it.
gotta practice.
Has anyone here colored any Starboy pics? His latest work is pretty great.
>>5773820
This could be good.
I don't care much about the rumors/facts surrounding his business practices, or whatever it is. What I know, and what I care about, is that Starboy has been making very enjoyably depraved smut like pic related for a few years now, and I've always found his linework hot.
That said, Starboy doesn't seem to know how to color. The handful of his color jobs I've seen were blotchy turn-offs to me, so much so that I'm personally a bit allergic to seeing any kind of color on Starboy line-work-hence my reservations.
It sounds reasonable that another person might be a better colorist, though!

Actually I think personally he's been getting better. His color work in the past was shit because he was using a mouse, I think. Now he has a tablet and he's learning pretty fast.
>>5776242
That being said he doesn't color his requests and I would love to see some color on these, especially now that they're so clean.

Looks like shit. I'm sorry, I'm all for giving someone the right to choose to be cut or uncut, I'd never circumcise an infant, but this is 2014. We have clothes to cover our reproductive bits. We don't need a dickcheese factory hood anymore.

I was almost tempted to do a better version of that edit, almost. That pic was literally my reaction as well lol.

What are you having trouble with?
>>5780677
more please
>>5781482
Just getting the colors to gradually go from one to the next. I can't figure out how to blend them together properly.
>>5781519
What program are you using? I usually just put a layer above the base colors for the shading and then use the blur tool on the edge that I want blended, but I've also mixed colors before.
You take the two colors and color 50% opacity with one over the other and then use the new color to mix with the old colors, making a progression from one to the other.
>>5778792
It's 2014.
We bathe regularly.
Smegma is not an issue anymore for anyone. Hygiene is no longer an issue.
>>5772218
this man speaks the truth. My dad was circumcised for surgery. His head is pinkish, skin colour. Mine still has foreskin is more of a greyish purple colour.
>>5781527
I use photoshop, but I'd consider my experience with it to be novice at best. I tried using a color layer on a picture that was already lined and shaded, but it just didn't come out right for whatever reason. I'll definitely have to learn the blur tool though, thanks for the info. As thanks, I'll give you tits, cause everyone loves tits.
>>5773820
>>5781854
Already shaded pics can be tricky, whether they're colored shading or strictly grayscale. But I always keep the lineart on the topmost (or close to it) layer and have that layer on multiply. Makes it pretty easy to color underneath it. Also, using the magic wand tool (sometimes with sample all layers) can help a lot in not needing to clean up extra shading marks.
>>5781861
I think my problem is that I was expecting the colors to mix with the darker bits that were already there. But I've realized photoshop only blends colors that are applied on top of colors already there, not vice versa. Oh, we're onto dicks now? I prefer futa.
>>5781879
Bigger version. Fuck Captcha.
>>5781879
Multiply is the setting you want for that. But it only darkens or 'burns' the colors on to the lower layer. For example, if you multiply the same color over itself, it makes a good shade for it, darker and more saturated. Protip: white will not multiply at all.
>>5781894
I've....never even considered using multiply like that. I usually use it to just see layers underneath the current layer, so I can work on the top layer while reference lower layer(s).
>>5781908
>see layers underneath the current layer
Nah, the opacity setting's more geared for that. Especially since you can choose your level of visibility for the layer and you've got two options, in that it makes a difference which layer gets put on top and made transparent.
>>5781914
Teach me, TEACH ME MOAR!!!
The beauty of pictures like >>5772196 is multiple sizes, all in one picture :D
>>5781925
Multiple sizes?
What else are you having issues with? As far as highlights go, I'm not sure how OP did it, but usually my second to topmost layer is reserved for that. Mostly just painting or airbrushing with white. Once in a rare while I'll use another color, but that's for colored light sources.
>>5781936
Yes, multiple dick sizes. Left dick is bigger than right dick.
Mostly just coloring in general, I've really only learned what was necessary to do the edits I do, which are morphing, and masking. As well as a few other not really noteworthy things. There's just SO MANY options, it's overwhelming.
>>5776251
>>5781961
Editing for specific stuff is not a bad way to start learning photoshop, it motivates you to tackle one thing at a time. And coloring can seem like a mess, but just start with pics you like and go simple and work your way up. I'm still not at a level I'd like, but every new trick helps.
>>5781976
This is really the only one I've been able to do so far, and that's because there was so little variation in the shading. But I touched up a lot of stuff on it, and used basically everything I know. It was orginally by Kloah.
>>5782018
First off, why are you coloring stuff that's already colored? That just makes things more confusing for you.
Not bad, but it means you're painting over the linework, which is super tedious. Use the multiply linework trick on an uncolored piece and figure out how to use either the paintbucket or select tools with more than one layer and it should speed up stuff to the point where you can experiment more with shading.
Your first assignment is to fully color at least one panel of this comic (that includes shading not supplied by the original art) by the end of this thread. Feel free to use the different panels for different approaches. Go!

>>5782068
Done.
>>5783193
Good stuff, but you haven't done any shading. I suggest taking the skirt down in saturation a bit and playing with shadows and highlight there, lots of fabric folds to work with.
The blush looks good, but I know they can be a pain in the butt sometimes, so here's a tip: use the lasso tool to select all of the shaded linework for the blush, go into >Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation
Click the colorize button and then move the Hue slider to a red or pink color if it isn't already and bump up the saturation a lot on that slider and bingo! instant colored blush. You can also use that on other shading if it's easy to lasso or it makes the coloring underneath look unnatural.
>>5783615
I did the blush by coloring directly on the flattened image with red at 1%, that way I can just build it up where I want it, and gradually lighten it towards the edges. I'll work on it some more tomorrow, I've yet to get any sleep today, and I still won't for a while even though I'm dead tired.
>>5783193
Look up colour theory please.
This is atrocious.
Or just ignore all of this advice and start actually drawing and colouring your own work.
>>5784124
Oh, my sincerest apologies for not being able to make a Mona Lisa on what is essentially my first try. That was sarcasm. Fuck you for trying to stop people from learning something new.
>>5783032
>>5783035
Thoughts?
>>5785386
honestly, they weren't trying to stop you as much as give you advice. the color theory in your second picture is pretty bad, but it's easy to learn and super easy to cheat. just look up color palettes or palette generators and use those. additionally, it might be better to learn how to shade and contour in greyscale first, because you can build your coloring techniques off that.
Just taking multiply layer and slap some flats on it does not help at all.
Line weight and this shading in particular "works" only in black and white artwork, so you'll had to do aditional ajustments. Lower lineweight, erase some of them if necessary, redo the shading.
Take some pictures and desaturate them. Look how values work and try to do the same.
>>5787402
In sequence from left to right on the bottom, I just can't seem to make 3 go to 4.
>>5787412
I'm shit at this step too and using multiply for it is bad habbit. Best advice i can give is to search for tutorials online or watch some streams.
Also if you're going to enlarge dicks - it's better to restore sharpness of every detail manually.
>>5787447
I tried watching Metal Owl stream, mostly because ALL of his pictures have pubes, and I'd like to remove them because hair is gross. But I just can't wrap my head around the shading thing. I'm still EXTREMELY new to photoshop, and that could be part of it. I tend to avoid sharpening because it makes the other lines look like poo, but I wasn't aware you could sharpen details only.
>>5784124
I've always been a subpar artist, and I'm okay with that. I just want to be able to decensor and de-hair pictures. I have no interest in becoming an artist and making my own content.
>>5787402
>>5787447
I was only suggesting multiply for clean b/w lines like you said. For already present grayscale shading, you can still use multiply but that requires additional adjustments like using the 'colorize' option in Photo especially for skintones. Usually that means cutting up the different sections of the grayscale to match colors. There's another method I use if I wanna keep the already done shading, but I'd probably be crap at explaining it.
>>5781976
Holy shit that's fantastic.

>>5790391

>>5772196
You want advice?
Color the lineart. Leaving it black/gray makes it look like shit.
>>5781796
you look at your dads dick a lot, huh?
>>5772196
The nipples seem a little too dark. The head of the cock looks like its albino. Some of the shading makes the character look dirty...as in needs a bath dirty. And the pubes have a greenish tint to them. Good attempt though.

You do not start creating without learning the absolute basics, at least as an adult.
It's the same as learning in any medium. You don't hold two pieces of steel together with a welding torch and then get mad when someone experienced calls you a fucking moron.
If you want to create coloured works of other people's art, you're already skipping huge, huge portions of what will make you good. You need to learn how shadows affect objects, how muscular structure works, how value and contrast work, which colours go well together or clash. When you're doing this horribly, in what is essentially marring a good artist's work, yeah, people will take offense. Learn the basics, try drawing on your own. Any idiot can do a crappy colour version but what do we need colour for when we could have more content.

I've missed these so damn much! How about this one?
Inb4 "How did she see the shoes?"
I feel I should run in here quickly and defend these "business practices". They are rumors. Somebody's been claiming that I take money and don't give anything back, that I scammed people out of cash in the name of "donations" for something that didn't happen, etc. The donations were for a table at Otakon and I didn't meet my goal, nor was I chosen for the table (it was a raffle). But I did go to Otakon with (mostly) my own money, and I did send copies of a comic to anyone who gave me an email address with their donation, as I promised. Granted, that comic was very, very late because some horrible shit happened in my life that year. Shit I don't think needs to be discussed. But I did send it out, and I posted about the comic saying that anyone who donated and didn't receive a copy just needed to email me and I'd send it to them immediately.
That's what the rumor was about and it's false. I don't want people thinking I try and scam my followers, because without you guys Starboy wouldn't exist at all. Starboy's barely a business as it is, since 90% of my work is freebies (which is fine.)
Thanks for bearign with the bullshit, here's a WIP of my latest piece.
