Can we talk about the precedent for 3D-only characters this movie set though?

With how it did Colossus better than any other movie so far, and even better than some animated content, all because the writers respect the source material, and the execs didn't force them to recreate him in some edgy big screen adaptation form?

This was honestly one of the best aspects of the movie for me, aside from the good balance of humor and action, of course.

If he had been live action, you just know they wouldn't have bothered to properly cast him (or wouldn't have been allowed to, fearing racial/physical discrimination or other such BS), and he'd have ended up a watered down version.

They're arguably lesser known, and Groot is hardly a fleshed out, relatable characer.

I meant more in terms of how in full-3D, Colossus turned out better than he would've in live action form.

Whereas, obviously, Groot and Rocket, and other such characters are full-3D purely by the nature of what they are.

Colossus though is the kind of character who most would cast live action and tone down/alter from the source material and thus ruin. Instead, as full-3D, he ended up being true to the source and really good all around with solid writing and solid voice acting.

Movie had problems. Origin story bullshit is always an issue. Trailers spoiling jokes is always an issue. And I wasn't in love with the time jumping constantly. BUT-

Holy shit if that was not the most accurate portrayal of a DC/Marvel character ever in film form. Granted, that's a pretty low bar all things considered, but damn. It was almost like someone actually read fucking comics. Al, Bob, not taking money for the job, the suit, the attitude, etc. When he got tackled off the rubble, I totally envisioned that as a two panel gag, and it worked. That was dope. Wonder what the next one'll be like.

I hate to be greedy, but it's honestly a real shame that we'll never get Deadpool and Spidey in the same flick.

There's nothing that popular they've tried to undermine. Obamacare was not some massively popular idea that the country just loved so much but the Republicans hated on principle. The country itself was fairly divided about it.

You're never going to replace Scalia because it's practically impossible; he was arguably more conservative than anyone the American right establishment idolizes, be it Reagan or Buckley or Teddy, and you would have to go back over a century if you wanted to find some judges who were textualists to the degree that he was. There'll be a fight but it's not going to go on for longer than Thomas's confirmation hearings and the candidate will be some moderate that everyone's mostly satisfied and somewhat dissatisfied with.
