When he first took over, DC seemed to take a turn for the grimdark; Identity Crisis, Countdown, the constant wanking of Deathstroke... Didn't help that he'd never done any work in comics before (closest he got was overseeing Beast Machines, and any Transformer fan will tell you that that show wasted a lot of its potential).

Dan Didio was responsible for all of the major stylistic changes in the early 00's. As an old school Titans fan, I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable with his choices in revitalizing the franchise, or what he wanted to do with Dick Grayson.

That said, 52, Wednesday Comics, Plastic Man, SOLO, and more all came out while he was EiC. Word is he pushed Grayson really heavily. He wants the books to sell, I can't stay mad, really.

But unfortunately she's Batgirl in literally every media adaptation, before or after New 52, so no wonder they'd want her back in the costume.
