Are there any examples of writers that actually hate the characters they're writing in a way that it is obvious in the book itself?
Popular answer is Frank Miller, but to be honest, I didn't find he misused Superman in Dark Knight Returns. I wouldn't even say Superman lost that fight, considering he only left with a bruise.
It didn't seem as hate fueled as people say.
Has Miller gone on record saying he hated Superman?
Ennis hates almost all capes and pretty much stated that more times than fucking Moore did, he made Punisher kill Hulk once and steamroll fucking Wolverine, the only character he respects is superman, so much that he did not made fun of him on All stars section 8
The first few issues of that Brazilian Mega Man comic that was written by someone who hated all non-Brazilian media and was determined to kill off all the Mega Man characters and replace them with his own OC (to the point of having said OC make a multi-page speech about ethnically cleansing all licensed characters out of a licensed comic) until the editor finally caught on and fired him.
>Has Miller gone on record saying he hated Superman?
He hasn't. In his mind DKR was a Batman story so he set up Superman as an antagonist. If you actually read the text closely and also the plot draft in the back of the TPB, you'd see that Miller did try to give Superman a fair shake.
If someone reads DKR and can only think, "Superman is government stooge, Batman beats Superman" then they really, really didn't get the book. I don't care if they claim to be a fan or a hater of DKR, if that's all they got then DK2 is the book they really want.
The other thing is that in the 80's, he was going to work with Steve Gerber on a revamp of Superman, but it didn't get approved. And there's been a few times that Miller said he wants to do a Superman project (he recently said he wants to do one in which Batman is the antagonist instead)
>he recently said he wants to do one in which Batman is the antagonist instead
The only thing that comes to mind is that he may want to do something like Superman calling batman in his bullshit about not killing because he pretty much puts people on hospitals for life daily
>Has it been translated?
Ignoring the troll posts.
Bendis has gone on the record as hating Carnage and "killed him" in his Avengers run.
He was pressured into creating the Ultimate version by fan demand though he felt he had an interesting story for a carnage version.
Interestingly, he also hated Venom, and was also pressured into making an ultimate venom by fan demand. His Venom version is pretty far removed from the regular universes venom (at the time). 10+ years later, he now has made huge changes to Venom to make him something he doesn't deplore.
There is an author's rant in the first page but it's in portuguese only.
It basically says:
being a cartoonist in Brazil is a shitty job, the original characters from the authors are never published, the editors are assholes that only want to get money from shitty gringo characters while making said gringo companies richer. The author was forced by the editors to imitate the shitty Japanese style. Brazilian cartoonist are starving artists and the Brazilian readers should support local artists and characters more so they can make a living.
Ennis dedicated a whole issue of Hitman to explain why out of all super heroes, Superman is the only one who doesn't suck.
Then he wrote 2 comics where Green Lantern (Kyle) and Lobo are raped by Bueno Excelente.
the first page rant also says the comic is not based on the Mega Man TV show that is a glorified advertising to sell action figures so his comic will ignore it completely and it's instead based on the Video Game and because the Video Game's plot it's' just about a blue robot running left to right shooting other robots he'll have to do the best he can do to adapt the plot into a coherent comic book narrative and he hopes you'll enjoy the comic anyway.
The author died in 2012 btw
Rip in piece
Hey, Kyle getting raped didn't happen on panel or anything
but he did tell everybody about it
>10+ years later, he now has made huge changes to Venom to make him something he doesn't deplore.
And yet, he still hates him. Notice how he manages to always leave him out of everything. Even covers.
jesus christ at least try reading you fucking clown
His carnage played like a freak of the weak tv villain. That episode where a shapeshifter takes the form of a formerly deceased character.
Only he actually made carnage bring back a character later on. It kinda made no sense
You're pretty right about that, considering he seems to enjoy shitting on her with M-Day, I remember him using Young Jean to shit on her. He can say he doesn't hate her all he wants, but he obviously does. Just like how he seems to hate Vision and her being together.
A documentary on the creation of the show would likely be more interesting than the show itself
Wally is Geoff's favorite character. Van Sciver talked him and Didio into bringing Barry back, which he did under the premise that there would be a Flash family.
It's pretty goddamn obvious from the way he completely ignored it in GL that he didn't want the reboot.
>Look up "Brazillian mega man" on google.
>Consistently find images of mega man next to an naked adult roll.
>the most clothes she wears are metal pasties and metal thong armor panels
Did I look up the right thing or what?
Johns hateboner for Batman is not really hate is just that he likes super powered guys too much and resents the popularity of a character he wasnt really a fan when he was young. It's not reallyhate but just not liking the guy.
Batman's portrayed as a crazy manchild with Christian Bale's fake voice and, along with Hal Jordan, Superman is the closest character in the entire universe to actually being sane.
>Batman's portrayed as a crazy manchild
that's Johns actually
>Superman is dumb and Batman is super s
No, mthe point is that Bruce is too dedicated to his mission to let his humanity take a role, and superman doesnt want to let his super-poweres (supercomputer brain) take a role, Superman is SO anti-fascist that he uses his power under democracy, he doesnt choose what he does, since he thinks it's unfair, for batman he doesnt give a fuck about the police and the will of the public. Miller takes a god and makes him a tryhard human, and takes a man and makes him a funtional lunatic ubermensch.
Miller gets both characters and pushes them to the extreme. Fuck you.
I can't remember the name of the comic or the writer, but in that Elseworlds story about the heroes of the DC Universe losing their powers you can tell that the writer wanted to ship Wonder Woman and Superman and really, really hated Kyle Rayner
>You ever wonder if Frank Miller is a Fascist?
He is, And his batman is a anarko fascist, and his superman is a traditional italic fascist.
And superheroes in general had been called that for decades, and miller makes a satire with his 2 favorites characters.
what is constantine even saying there?
I'm sorry I'm not an ative english speaker and I can't really make sense of it.
cor blimey is an english exclamation, ok.
do wot- do what?
as it 'appens- happens (?)
orright - alright ?
I'll do the whole lot of you for a pony?
I really agree. Miller really writes nicely twisted versions of the characters.
Only whiny sportsfags who only care about who beats who in fights think there's anything wrong with based Miller.
IMO Millar doesn't hate superman, it's just that Dark Knight Returns is a deconstruction, and All Star was a prequel. So Superman is more or less a lawful stupid tool, but Bats himself is sadistic, has an enormous inferiority complex around people with powers, and shouldn't be let anywhere near little boys.
Also, wonder woman is an angry feminist who swoons for big strong superman, GL is a boring, clumsy idiot, Black Canary wears fishnets and deals out gratuitous beatings full of sexy ass shots when people call her "Love Chunks."
The beauty is that those are ALL ways that those characters have been portrayed.
I dont think JMS hates Spider-man but i think he absolutely hated writing OMD
He's speaking in a cockney accent, which he wouldn't being born in Liverpool and raised in Northampton.
As such it's like >>79824562 says.
'I'll do the 'ole lot for a pony' - I'll do everything for £25
