I don't think there's ever been a movie or franchise I've been more conflicted about.

On one hand, there's a handful of designs, ideas/concepts, and actions scenes that I found really cool/interesting/enjoyable.

On the other hand, holy fuck, the direction and acting, the writing, the OTHER designs that AREN'T good, the humor, soundtrack... Etc. etc., all really bad.

The "cloud" transformations would have been more interesting (mileage due to vary) if it had served some advantageous purpose instead of just looking different, and far less complex/impressive than normal transformations. If it was some kind of micro module replacement system where damaging them shattered parts of them back into components that had to rebuild that would have been something, at least a far more difficult than normal enemies. Slightly anyway.

Instead it came off as a weak gimmick to make transformation sequences cheaper.
