In your opinion, who is the worst artist in the industry right now?
Whoever did the art for Dan Slott's She-Hulk book. She looks like she has the fucking downs.
Start posting examples, lads. This needs to be LOL-thread tier.
If you read Transformers comics, you know that this fucknut cannot draw at all.
He frequently uses stock images as backgrounds with several photoshop filters over them, doesn't know how to draw facial expressions for shit, has been known to copy and paste characters wholesale between panels, just rotating and stretching the artwork to the characters will face different directions, he uses this weird texture that looks like garbage to color transformers and to give them "detail," and has on several occasions just flat out drawn the incorrect characters in scenes because he doesn't actually know anything about transformers.
If Transformers comics were more popular I have no doubt that he would be the most hated person in the comics industry because of how hideous his art is, and I imagine the only reason IDW keeps him around is to assign him to comics they don't want to actually make anymore.
Pic related. This scene is taking place on an alien space ship in an alternate dimension, but you can plainly see people in the photo he used for the background.
Here's another example. On the right is what the character Kup is supposed to look like at this point in the story, and on the left is how Livio Ramondelli drew him because he didn't know what Kup actually looked like so he just googled a picture of the toy.
He has no respect for the source material to the point where he can't even be bothered to check previous issues of the comic to see what a character is supposed to look like.
Usually. But this is a Mondo movie poster. They higher on an artist to due a movie poster then sell a super limited run of the poster. You've probably see. Some of their stuff before and just not realized it.
Also that poster- along with a few other Deadpool ones- goes on sale today. Good luck extra getting one though. They pretty much immediately sell out.
But I woke up. Maybe it's time to make coffee instead of posting.
Nah, Liefeld's way better than a lot of today's FotM artists. The only issue is that modern coloring doesn't look good with his style, which is a problem a lot of artists from the pre-00s face. The whole shiny gradient computer coloring shit makes his art look way to plasticy as opposed to his 90s art which had that dope as fuck crosshatching that made everything look bombastic and extreme.
>Liefeld's way better than a lot of today's FotM artists
You have to be shitting me right now. There's no one worse than Liefeld, a guy that has been constantly sucking for 30 years with not even an inch of improvement to his craft. And he gets paid a wealthy amount for sucking, too. And now he's up on cloud 9 because he's been constantly giving interviews about how proud he is that he created Deadpool and how his creation is well known and loved all around the world. He's to comic books as Lars Ulrich is to heavy metal. He's to drawing as Lars is to drumming.
He's the fucking worse and I hate his fucking guts.
Land is terrible but he at least has heard of anatomy and dynamic pacing. And the guy is an ok artist when he's not going overboard with photoshop. You may not like his sameface syndrome or his rehashed panels but at least he can carry a tune with a book. Liefeld can't even draw a rifle.
Why do they hire shitty writers is what I really ask. The only one I kinda liked was Hickman and even he turned to shit.
Charlie Adlard, but only because he's stuck illustrating creative bankruptcy half the time. If the man isn't rushed, or given freedom to draw what he wishes, he is pretty damn good. But in Walking Dead, I swear, half the panels are filled with people in half-profile, smiling. Same faces, same smile, same eyes. Also, he can't do low-angle faces worth a shit, because suddenly everyone's chin grows twice its size.
Speaking as an artist, I think it's a matter of how much you are challenged, and how much of the human body and spacial placement you've memorized. Adlard doesn't seem to be challenged or passionate about what he's doing, if the art is any indication. And can you blame him?
Walking Dead is just people doing people things. Invincible is about superheroes, so I imagine it's much more dynamic and diverse in what is shown. TWD is just corpse, human, corpse, human, corpse. Nothing special there. In Invincible you got humans, human-like aliens, alien aliens, and robots, if I remember right.
it's funny how it was actually amy and not andrea that had the freckles, but they changed it later on.
every character needs to have some sort of accessory on twd, because you wouldn't be able to distiguish them otherwise in adlard's drawings.
Shit, I lost count how many times generic background man looked like Eugene, or Eugene looked like Rick.
On the one hand, Adlard is saddled with drawing the same shit over and over again, but on the other a good artist has ways of differentiating faces without cheap accessories.
>Any one of them could replace Erica Henderson
Looks pretty normal to me.
also, let's look at the first one and a half sentence from the review for this on the page where I found the pick
>I’m really sad that this series is coming to an end. It was so gorgeous[...]
My problem is that it looks too fuzzy all the time. What is it with some artists and their desire to scratch in pointless lines on their images? They don't add to the illusion of texture, unless they specifically want everyone to look like they're carrying lint on every inch of their person.
Ottley has only gotten better over time on Invincible while Adlard has been slipping. It's really cool looking at those first few Ottley issues of Invincible and seeing things like the weird teeth and going to today and seeing how much better he's gotten.
1.- Tight deadlines
2.- He discovered google images and photoshop
Can't blame him really, there you got George Perez, who isn't wealthy by any means, semi-retired and with carpal tunnel syndrome that can only get worse and then you got Land, young, making bank, no health issues and probably riding boats on his weekends.
I try to avoid this guy like the plague, but he always shows up in series that I find interesting. Fucking Marvel, Does Land suck dick really well for him to continue working there?
>he will never do pic related, and all we'll ever have are the covers
>the Liefield is bad meme
He's not a bad artist. He's just extremely lazy and does one shitty style because that's what pays. I honestly prefer the early Image stuff to the mediocre webcomic art of the 2000's.
