It has a lot of good stuff but to me is kind of trapped in-between the "Spider-Man era" and "The Dark Knight era" of cape movies.

It's really similar to the Star Wars trilogy; the first movie had a lot of good stuff trying to be different while being held back by still being safe enough to appeal to mass audiences, then the sequel got to just tell the story it wanted how it wanted and was amazing, but then the success of that movie made the finale end up overblown.

Why is Batman wearing a trenchcoat.

Is he cold? Isn't it awkward wearing it over his cape? Or for that matter, wearing a pair of goggles over his already heavy awkward cowl?
>>
>>79755496

Nah, Begins is really great and doesn't get the credit it deserves because it's overshadowed by The Dark Knight.

My biggest problem with Batman on film is having a fucking love story, and it's a really big problem with all of Nolan's Batman films (I still really enjoyed Begins and Dark Knight nonetheless).

Just fucking NO!

I don't mind Batman having sexual tension with Catwoman, but please, PLEASE DCEU no Batman love story, please!

Also, most other member of the Justice League gets to have a love story: Clark, Lois; Barry, Iris; Arthur, Mera; Diana, Trevor (sort of). Batman don't need one.

You mean Earth One
>>
>>79754338
>is /co/ ready for the first great comic book film?
Anon, plz.

It'll be surprisingly okay at best.

MoS was not a good movie, aside from the visuals and the action scenes.

Remember, Zack Snyder is still directing.
>>
>>79762324
Not even that but the movie is nothing like the comics, he probably hasn't read them at all. Krypton alone is dramatically different. I have no idea what he's talking about.
>>
>>79762345
This. Earth One is surely an influence, which is pretty sad since it's an awful Superman story.
>>
>>79762324
I'm talking about pa kent's death, on n52 his parents were dead from the beginning. I'm guessing that influenced them.

Also the fact that on n52 superman pretty much only fights super-powered beings on the first arcs. A good portion of any city being destroyed is also very common on n52.

What I'm saying is that if you read superman up until the end of the first H'el arc and then go watch MoS you'll get the same feel from the movie.

Only exception being Lois being a much nicer character on the movie.
>>
>>79762542
>A good portion of any city being destroyed is also very common on n52.

It was common long before that.
>>
>>79762542

Golden age Supermans parents were also dead. I think they were more influenced by that. Especially since Golden age Pa told Superman to keep his powers secret.

And anyway you were provided with a time frame. How can a movie that was already in production in 2011 be inspired by a monthly series that started in September 2011?
>>
>>79762568
Yeah but jesus, DC is going too far with that on n52. By the time I watched the movie MoS destruction looked like a little accident.
>>

>>
>>79762542

>>
>>79762618
I always thought the writers of capeshit liked to share information, is it that much of a stretch to think that goyer talked with DC about which were the plans for superman in n52?
>>
>>79762624

>Yeah but jesus, DC is going too far with that on n52

How about Final Crisis, when the entire world was completely ravaged? Or when Coast city was wiped off the face of the Earth? So far as I can remember no city was completely destroyed in the New 52. You're talking shit

Movies can be great adaptations despite not including everything. Otherwise you'd only think 100% faithful works would be considered good.

What I was wrong about the source material, yes, but the movie still feels like an adaptation of a n52 story.

as someone who loved man of steel, I can say all of this is true

BUT the biggest problem was goyer's script being pretty retarded at times

>lois being literally everywhere
>pacing all over the place
>pa kent dying scene

I'm so fucking glad that motherfucker he's gone because he was the only thing holding back that movie in my eyes

>the first great comic book film
Debatable.
There ware many grate comic book movies made.
The first Iron Man
The first Captain America (first half at least)
The first Avengers movies (say what you want it was good)
The Dark Knight
Captain America the Winter Solider
Guardians of the Galaxy
Batman Begins
Watchman (with Deleted scenes)
So saying it`s the first Grate comic book film is kind off being a retard.

I liked the second half. it was over the top but whatever. it wasn't mediocre by story standards

>I can't comprehend why anyone would like Thor 1, though.

it had a pretty decent story, it wasn't a full blown comedy although the thor parts were great because he was getting used to our society. the action was great too

Nah. I use to prefer TDK when I was more of a casual but after reading Year One, I realised how accurate and how much more enjoyable it was as a Batman fan. TDK felt less Batman and more crime thriller with a couple of cheesy costumes, although I won't deny Ledger's performance was great. That being said, he played a good crazy hobo with makeup rather than a good Joker.

Captain America First Avenger was shit.
It shitted the bed so hard after the first half, it was terrifyingly stupid.

Every time someone points out how the movie shits on the source material you get someone that moves the goalposts again to another comic.
>It's based on Birthright and Earth One!
>It's based on Byrnes' Man of Steel!
>It's based on Hyperion and Miracleman!
>It's based on New52!

And then they start crying about how all anyone that disagrees actually wants is Donner or All Star. Because the idea that Snyder is talking out of his ass is just so impossible that any other explanation has to be the right one.

I don't understand why people on /co/ especially are so hyped-up about this movie. They're not even really adapting anything in particular from the comics except that one small part in TDKR in a totally different context and lolo Zod is Doomsday 2clever

At least the Nolan Batman films were a clever combination of different comic book storylines. This looks like meaningless garbage.

Not to mention that Lex and Diana look like shit.
>>
>>79776469

if you go to reddit /r/movies people can't even comprehend how will Batman try to touch Superman. But I guess whatever Tony Stark does like fighting Thor is ok.

Is this another guy or Devin Faraci? They're basically saying the same thing

But anyway, i don't think WB is THAT scared of how the movie is gonna turn out, but i do agree that they're more or less desperately trying to win every kind of audience with all these different trailers. First it was more serious tones, "Batman vs Superman, fight!". Then there was the Doomsday trailer, kinda trying to reassure people that Batman and Superman weren't gonna be enemies by the end, and now we have a more upbeat trailer that focuses on Batman, Doomsday nowhere to be seen.

>>
>>79778190
No, he is not, but you don't know what a paranoid is.

>>79776987
Nah, he is powerless, for the second time in his life. he spend all his life trrying to be the ├╝bermensch to crontrol everything and feel safe and make others feel safe.
As far as Bruce kows Clark could be an Alien criminal fighting alien police. He doesnt know shit. He has all the right to think that he is the only protection humanity has, and what will happen in the BvS movie will make him think he is right, he is not, but Superman also thinks Batman is a fascist psyco.
