But World's Finest, Superman/Batman, or Batman/Superman is the quintessential crossover book. Its supposed to be where Superman takes the piss out of Batman and he is able to compliment Superman while they save the day.

Really enjoying these past two issues from Taylor. Any in-universe reason Nubo's chaning into his classic look or is it one of those gradual appearance/personality shifts to get him back since the new style wasn't working?

Nah, I'm cool with Nubo gradually turning into classic Lobo. I always figured it'd be what would happen with any New-52 updates that didn't stick. If it didn't work, at least they tried something new and they can gradually phase in the classic version as the character evolved or grew older.

Kryptonite doesn't rob superman of his powers instantly. The area he was stabbed with is powerless, thus a lethal stab with kryptonite would kill, as he cannot heal with super speed. However superman often retains his strength and relative durability, and it only begins to diminish over time equal to exposure to the kryptonite. The radiation painfully takes away his power over time. Obviously being stabbed directly would speed this process along, but it usually still takes minutes before he is completely powerless.
