>>79723411 There's nothing wrong with the costume, it looks great in the promo shots that hage ben released. The problem is that it's shot so poorly that the quality of the costume design is not evident in the trailers.
Bascially, the costume designer has done a great job but the poor cinematography is doing it a great disservice.
>>79723663 With Marvel wanting to take light hearted approach with most of their movies, I hope they add a bunch of black comedians. It'll be like Big Momma's House but with action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVq5mRBfnmk
>>79723411 So far it looks like the movie version is lacking in a little detail. I love the suit on the right so much. It's so cool and it's like the concept of Afrofuturism brought to life. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before.
Honestly I hate the look of the MCU characters for the most part and I think this is the best yet since Iron Man
>face is covered >first live action super hero to have white eyes
Yeah, it's fine. It's got some not needed detail but it has to blend in SOMEWHAT with the tacticool look of these fuckin movies, it's still miles better than how Hawkeye or Cap looks which is basically like stylish soldiers, not super heroes
Only hardcore BP fans hate this. All three of them. It was time for Marvel to reach into their backpack of black characters. It's going to be his time to shine and his fans want to see his traditional look. It's never going to happen. They won't cater to you any more than us. Your ass in the seat is guaranteed. I like it but i'm not a hardcore BP fan.
>>79736764 >Yeah, it's fine. It's got some not needed detail but it has to blend in SOMEWHAT with the tacticool look of these fuckin movies, it's still miles better than how Hawkeye or Cap looks which is basically like stylish soldiers, not super heroes >Cap You best not be talking about the final CA1, TWS, Avengers 2, or CW suits, son.
Do agree that Iron Man has some of the best suits. Some of the best /m/ live-action stuff yet, along with War Machine.
>>79737237 That's exactly how Cap should look imo. I'm the opposite, I never liked the way 616 Cap looked. Just ridiculous. I vastly like the somewhat tacticool look of the Ultimate universe and the MCU movies b/c Cap is a soldier. It only makes sense that he'd be decked out in the gear of one.
>>79737237 I think they're trying to portray him more as sort of supersoldier than superhero, I think most would think the latter is generally more of the can fly and do magic kinds of stuff type beings, generally.
>>79737304 >Cap is a soldier. It only makes sense that he'd be decked out in the gear of one. And Daredevil and Batman are ninjas, doesn't mean they shouldn't sport their classic looks and instead dress in shinobi gear.
I'm not saying he needs to be the original costume 100%, you can improvise a little bit, but they go too far with the tacticool shit IMO and visually, it makes him seem a lot less special, only adding to the odd combination of normal people + Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor, who all look like comic characters, it just doesn't work well to me visually, at least in X-Men they are dedicated to one visual style and it works cause it all fits together even if it isn't the classic look
>>79737334 >I think they're trying to portray him more as sort of supersoldier than superhero Yeah, and that's dumb IMO. It only makes it funnier when people claim Marvel movies are the PURE SUPER HERO FILMS, AND DC IS ASHAMED OF THEIR SOURCE MATERIAL
Not trying to start company wars, but really....they can't even put a mask on Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch is literally wearing street clothes
>>79738079 >And Daredevil and Batman are ninjas, doesn't mean they shouldn't sport their classic looks and instead dress in shinobi gear. But in the Nolan trilogy, a lot of Batman comic books, as well as a lot of Daredevil comic books, there's a lot of shinobi/ninja influence in their gear.
>I'm not saying he needs to be the original costume 100%, you can improvise a little bit, but they go too far with the tacticool shit IMO Not even remotely so. They could really go even further with it. Not saying that they should or that I would even want them to, but call me when Cap looks like a Liefeld 90's antihero, with all the pouches and wielding big ass heavy guns. They've still nailed that superheroic look with the Cap suits, while still showing that military influence, in an intelligent manner. I can look at those suits and think, "That's a superhero, but also a super soldier."
>and visually, it makes him seem a lot less special, only adding to the odd combination of normal people + Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor, who all look like comic characters, it just doesn't work well to me visually Well it works just fine to me. Cap has never looked out of place.
Black Widow sort of wears a spy catsuit version of the same thing and Falcon in CW is wearing something similar too. It's not out of place at all. Dude, it's a comic book superhero movie, of course all these different heroes are going to be coming from different places.
>>79737747 Man it's shit like this that makes me wish BvS were actually going to be a good movie. That is probably the BEST-looking Batman in a live-action movie yet and that shot is incredibly cool-looking. Even if I don't like the TDR-inspired bat symbol.
>>79738239 >But in the Nolan trilogy, a lot of Batman comic books, as well as a lot of Daredevil comic books, there's a lot of shinobi/ninja influence in their gear. Not a terrible lot, there are motifs here and there if you're creative, but it's not just a ninja suit painted red or with bat ears painted on it
>I can look at those suits and think, "That's a superhero, but also a super soldier." To each their own but all I see is just a soldier outfit painted in colors instead of camo or jet black
>Dude, it's a comic book superhero movie, of course all these different heroes are going to be coming from different places.
But they can't decide if they want it to look like that or not, which is the thing, pic related
Half their designs are drab/realistic or militaristic, and the other half actually look like something from a super hero universe, it's visually jarring to me. I think the closest thing so far to meeting in the middle is Ant-Man's look
The first Avengers Cap suit was pretty "super hero"ish just because of how bright it was , but it also wasn't a very good design, so I feel like rather than perfect a Cap suit that does trigger the thought of "super hero" they decided to just go the opposite route and make him look more like a soldier, which isn't the dumbest idea but we already have too many characters who don't look "super" imo in the limelight, don't need any more. Hell, they could fix the whole problem by giving the other characters extra flare even
>>79723729 You know the difference between hero costume and filming costume, right?
Look at OP's image. The one on the left is a filming costume. It's less detailed because it's not intended for closeups (whether it actually ends up in some is immaterial - you build a lighter, more flexible one for the majority of shots because people won't have time to focus on it watching the movie) but it has the main points and conveys that this is the same character as on the right. The one on the right is a "hero" costume - intended for closeups, the official design for promo art, and so on. It's much more ornate and as a result, harder to maintain during filming, as well as harder to move in and whatever else.
Part of that is down to materials - glues have limits, it's hard to hide zippers and the sheer cost of making as many detailed hero suits as you would need to get through filming (because god damn do costumes tear and scuff easily) means that it's very impractical, even for a huge budget, to produce only hero suits. In part that cost would be amplified by the longer time it would take to change or fix damaged or dirty costumes, as the more complex they are, the longer that takes. I know, you think they're both the same with different trim, but they're almost certainly not.
tl;dr OP is making a (You) thread about two obviously distinct costumes, and you're going along with it because you're unobservant.
>>79740017 I think you mean hero costume and stunt costume. And yes I'm well aware that they probably have half a dozen different suits for various needs. That doesn't change the fact that this shot: >>79737704 is of the hero suit because there's no reason to use the stunt suit for what is clearly a character reveal and it still looks like crap due to the lighting and lensing. It's badly shot and looks far less impressive as a result.
>>79723411 I honestly have no clue, it looks more like cloth in the that screencap, which is one of the things I was worried that it wouldn't look like, since the promo image on the right makes it look less like cloth.
>>79737747 >>79730383 ironhead studio built the Bat costume and the Blackpanther costume. both are really involved and like everyone on this thread has said, the Lighting does the Panther suet no justice.
>>79738421 Serious question, have you ever seen a modern soldier before? If Batman's gear counts as a real superhero suit and not just "soldier with a cape" then Cap's suit is not just "multicolored soldier." I mean none of his costumes looked like what a real soldier would wear, not even the first avenger one. They look like costumes with a military theme. Or in the case of the Avengers one, shitty cosplay.
I'm seriosly wondering where you've seen soldiers that wear masks like the one Cap has or have uniforms made out of similar materials or even in similar shapes. Cap's uniform looks pretty damn unique to me.
