This. QC started back in the stone age of web-comics, where everything was anime/video game parodied, and it was basically the only slice of life thing on the web. There also wasn't a lot of everything like there is now.

The comic is basically a sitcom. That format is easy to make ok because it appeals to people in a really cheap way: basic investment in characters, a little drama from romance but not so much its upsetting, some super light comedy.

From there, Jeph updated very frequently and consistently.
