21.

I didn't start reading comics until I was like 24.

The DC stable is far superior, but I like some Marvel stuff too.
>>
>>79657054
>implying
Jokes on you, I just recently started getting into some Marvel stuff.

I love the Thunderbolts. Justice like Lighting, baby!
>>
There are more good Marvel books out right now than DC though.
>>
>>79660030
>Marvel
Vision

>DC
Omega Men
Grayson

nah DC has twice as many readable books
>>
>>79657054
I've never bought a single comic from either.
However in terms of films, I've watched most of Marvel's, and have next to no interest in DC's.

Actually Omega was canceled, then un-canceled and listed as a 12 issue mini; but apparently Nightwing's going back with the Titans (again).

Doctor Strange
Old Man Logan
Spider-Man/Deadpool

I never grew out of Marvel, it's still my favorite and has all my favorite characters

I did however realize Marvel are far bigger cocksuckers than DC and also giant whores for the casual crowd which has made me despise them

I realized this...idk around the time phase 2 of the MCU came out

23. But then again it's not just marvel. Grew out of most cape shit. Still watch the movies if they peak my interest though. Gonna see BVS and Civil War. Both will probably be a dissapointment

I read both companies but DC just seems to have a better universe with superior character designs and a pretty extensive lore and metatext thanks to Morrison and a few others.

"Yeah, there were some half-assed death threats. The whole thing saddened me more than anything else. It really brought home the fact that there's a segment of the audience who takes this stuff waaaay too seriously. This is supposed to be entertainment, but somehow it takes on an importance that's all out of proportion.
>>
>>79661634

DC tried to make amends to Siegal and Shuster multiple times and they always snubbed it. The deal they made, at the time, was 100% fair. No one could have expected Superman to be what it is today. They probably do deserve more but they sold the rights to the character. No one had to do shit for them.

Finger, and all the other ghost writers and artists, were fucked over by Kane. The contract he has with DC still to this day makes it so only he can be credited for the stuff he "worked" on. Not sure what lead to Finger getting slight credit now though. I assume DC had to work with the Kane estate to smooth things over. I'm glad he's getting something though. Kane sounds like a real asshole.

Kirby was actively screwed over while he worked at the company though. The bosses treated him like shit and his supposed partner stabbed him in the back.

All three were very different situations.

Who cares? We all know Image Comics is the best publication right now for the medium.

>Chew
>Southern Bastards
>The Fade Out

>Sex Criminals
>Bitch Planet
>We Stand On Guard

Hell even their overrated Bendis equivalent Brian K. Vaughn is nowhere near as bad as Bendis.

It's been a damn good ride. Still my favorite current comic though alongside Southern Bastards which I hope is back to a more consistent release format.

>>79662119
As I have mentioned in the topic before, I do read some stuff from all publications sometimes just to see how bad it'll be. That was my initial reason going into Sex Criminals. But really it's a comic that shows that any premise or idea can work well as long as the creators of said premise/idea do it well.

I like Marvel but I find most of their current output to be mediocre to bad and I can't understand why people defend it so hard outside of it being published by the company they like.

Conversely DC is putting some good books out right now and everyone outside of /co/ treats them like a they've got aids and the shitty "LOL TONS OF REBOOTS" meme gets pretty old.

I grew out of DC heroes at about 11.
Got into Marvel, because their heroes were "real people with real weaknesses".
Stopped reading comics entirely at about 16.
Then I fell back in the wagon at 20 when I started reading all I could find on history of comics (before wikis were widely available). Same time I discovered comic book scans were also as available as manga scans. And then I fell in love with DC all over again, reading plenty of notable miniseries and runs. I read some Marvel too, but it didn't really have as much stuff that interested me at that point.

Then Civil War and OMD happened and I dumped Marvel for good. I kept reading DC, but less and less until I mostly just check everything Gmozz does.
>>

Miller's run on Daredevil was the last good thing to come out of Marvel.

That finished over 20 years ago with Man Without Fear.

This is the problem with Marvel. Their shit since the mid nineties has been crap to mediocre at best. They don't hire writers to write good stories; they hire writers to continue their fucking soap-opera crap.

At least DC hires writers to try write and write good stories.

I'm a bit of a BKV enthusiast so I might have a bias, but Saga is in my all time top 3 for comics. Decent humor, feels, Esperanto passed off as an alien language, beautiful and surreal artwork, and a full and colorful universe.

Y is an all time favorite of mine too. The poetry in the story, no matter how blatant like when 355 dies to Alter in a parallel to Alter's family superstition. Pick up his take on the origin of The Hood if you like good Marvel villains, and Deus Ex Machina if you like political commentary.
>>
>>79678221

Fuck, I forgot he wrote Deux Ex Machina too. I enjoyed that, but definitely preferred Y.

Green Lantern and Sinestro are going somewhere interesting, and Superman: Lois & Clark is nice.
Batman Beyond is good once you get over the fact that it's not Terry.
Gotham Academy is great and I hope it doesn't get canceled.
Superman and Action Comics are alright, and he's about to get his powers back.
Earth 2: Society got a decent writer, so you might want to try it.
Robin: Son of Batman is good if you like Damian.
Starfire is cute and fun.
