Really liking Leto's Joker so far. I think after Ledger people sort of gave the role a lot of mystique that it doesn't really need. "How could Leto possibly play the Joker? He's such a dark and complex character, no way he'll pull it off." People said shit like this, but the Joker isn't that complex, and Ledger's Joker was almost absurdly simply, no past, and no desires besides creating chaos. Leto's Joker looks like he's gonna be a lot more personal, rather than a concept.

The thing I'm most disappointed in is Harley's accent or lack thereof. I wish I knew what the logic behind it was since Margot did a pretty good Harley in Wolf of Wall Street. I hope it's not something dumb like the accent is too silly for this movie about tattooed murder clowns and crocodile men.

I don't mind the look of the new Joker THAT much yet. I like how he looks like a creepy clown toy almost. Jack Nicholson just looked like a normal guy in clown makeup, Heath Ledger looked like a crackhead, Jared Leto actually looks like a clown so far IMO. I do admit that I'm not a fan of the tattoos though, if they were cool tattoos then I wouldn't mind them as much, but his current ones are just so fucking bland. Not sure how I feel about the metal teeth yet. Maybe the teeth will be a good replacement for Ledger's scar smile, or maybe it will just make him look like a stupid gangster, not sure. Overall, I think it all depends on how well Leto plays the character. There's things I like and don't like about the design so far. I do have high hopes since he looked pretty cool in the new trailer, well at least better then he did in the first trailer.

Ah, I finally nailed down why I don't like Leto's Joker.

He just looks like a kid. A young punk. He looks like he only became the Joker a month ago while going to college. Ledger Joker looked like an old fart, but he looked like he'd seen some shit. Nicholson looked like a gangster that had gone off the rocker. Leto just comes across as some undergrad who spent six months in Guantanamo and broke.

He could work in a Batman Year 1 story, but the DCAU is trying to hit the ground running and take place in a world that's been putting up with crazy shit for a while now. and in such a case you would expect Joker to be a veteran supervillain by now but Leto still looks green behind the ears, no pun intended.

Honestly I still think the tattoo's are a mistake, they're a design choice and I can go with that but at this point it's only because of how small they are.

If they were larger, like the "infamous" DAMAGED tattoo, it would be a bit of an improvement cause with most of the scenes we've seen him in he isn't exactly sitting still, it'll be next to impossible to even read half of them so why bother.

This Joker didn't, like, tell knock-knock jokes or something, but he was still funny enough to be The Joker in his mannerisms. Like, when he meets the mob, and Gambol is like, "you think you can steal from us and just walk?" and Joker just innocently says "yeah." Or the part in his semi truck where his driver gets knocked out, and Joker pushes him out of the way and is like "move over, I wanna drive." Just the way he delivers it is comic gold. Or what about "never start with the head..." or the magic trick?

I think a lot of the humour also just came from how Joker almost had a Looney Toons-esque nature to him, the way he'd constantly frustrate his pursuers, the way Bugs Bunny always gets the better of Yosemite Sam. Like, the sheer absurdity of that scene where he's dressed as the nurse, and despite the fact that it's a shoddy disguise and he's clearly The Joker, Dent doesn't recognize him until he pulls of the medical mask, at which point he starts freaking out. Like, in a cartoon, where a character wears those glasses with the nose and mustache or something. I think that was meant to be funny, but not everybody got that.

I like the first Burton one and the first two Nolan ones.

Hell, I even like Returns and Rises. But with Returns, I recognize that it's a muddled narrative that just has some good stylistic and thematic stuff going for it, and with Rises, it has a lot of problems with internal logic and not developing some themes well, but it still functions as a pretty satisfying conclusion.

So yeah, overall, I'd say Batman has had it pretty good at the cinema.

In addition the settings are completely different, and the characters on said team in GotG aren't played to be the "worst of the worst" with rap sheets that include things like cannibalism. Nah I can't. I honestly think the only thing about Joker I hate is the Damaged tattoo. The others I can live with. That Harley bit with the "voices" better not be in the movie, or transpire differently. Cara Delevigne or whatever is the most terrible thing about this movie in my opinion. Will Smith actually looks pretty badass doing that weird shooting pose with his monocle. Should be at least fun.

There's silly looking, and then there's just plain dumb. Most versions of him, like his early days, have a refined look to him, while having odd colors and face paint which makes the whole thing look ridiculous and silly. Heck, even The Batman's version of Joker wasn't that bad, despite being more primal. This and faceless joker are just plain awful.
