The typical drop from #1 to #2 used to not be that large, however variants have muddled things. It used to be more like dropping 50% from #1 by #4 or #5, but most ANAD books seem to have a 50% drop by #2 due to variants.
What's worse is some books on #3 dropped even more, so that they've lost like 70% of #1 sales.

So yeah, not very good.
But fortunately for Marvel, they probably knew this was coming so they had a crossover planned and Spider-Woman is a part of it.

Basically comic sales will have large drops early until they settle in to smaller drops (like a few hundred a month). That stabilizing number is usually reached around issue 10, so you can see that if they hadn't relaunched it would probably have been ok though just hovering around the point where you start talking cancellation. Not really, that's pretty much standard for any relaunch. The problem is that the #1 was lower than they usually are, so when the inevitable 50% drop happened, the sales just reverted to pretty much what they were at the last volume. Which means all the relaunch did was give a one issue boost to sales.

Basically, they would have wanted first issue sales around 65k and second issue sales around 40k.
