The only time I have only time I have ever seen an Adventure Time toy is at a con (it was the Jake suit, like two weeks after that episode came out actually, I shoulda got it but figured I could get it for cheaper elsewhere). Other than that there's video games and that one poster of the whole cast standing on a green field with Jake being a giant ball in the back. I work at a few big retailers and have never seen a single AT toy in their kids sections. Merchandising can't be THAT big of a deal to AT.

Actually I don't think Cartoon Network is really big on merchandising and cares more about television ratings. I have never seen a single toy of a Cartoon Cartoon in my life, maybe a few of Teen Titans.

As much as I love Adventure Time, they are too afraid of ruining their precious status quo. The final nail in the coffin with the Stakes special. They don't care about progressing their story all that much. As long as they can hint at Bubbline they can distract us from the fact that eight episodes were wasted on Marceline despite it giving us a cool lion and the only good song(from sucrose) the song has had in a while(since sucrose left). Finn will always have both arms and we just need to learn to deal with it.

I don't want to particularly defend AT on this matter, but ratings are down pretty much everywhere on many cartoon channels, especially on CN. They don't know how to have proper schedule consistency, lack real advertisments and only milk one or two milkcows like >>79097851 says. Even SU is just doing "comparatively" good to other shows, its ratings are also falling down albeit slower because a new big fanbase exists. Outside the US and some Latin American countries AT is still extremely huge though, I've never met any person in my life who watches anything else on CN other than a guy who likes Gumball.

Thye range episodes into "Bombs" thinking that the ratings are high whenever they do that so they save a lot of episodes which could have easily been spruced through the weeks, but the issue here is, yes, people do watch on the many for each Bomb but not because the Bomb itself is the right strategy, but because thanks to the bomb we had weeks of episode deprivation!

It's a standard comedy show with flashy colours and lots of explosions while having a pretty mediocre plot, so they quickly smelled easy money here. As it didn't go as well as they expected they just thought it didn't get enough attention and increased the frequency of airings by a shitload. iirc it still didn't really worked and it's the main reason why it's slowly getting less now.

Also the AT thing depends on the countries, I generally watch the show on three different local Cartoon Networks and all three are stuffed with Adventure Time, as every other series is pretty unpopular overseas.
