Kylo Ren SNL sketch
started uploading this in old thread, will continue
Wolfe and Gregor didn't get their chips out in time, and they're a little bit crazy as a result, so they kind of kneejerk react to thinking the Jedi betrayed them like what the chip made them think. He's just reminding them. At least that's how I interpret it.
Rewatch all the Sidious scenes from ROTS, anon. The Jedi are branded as traitors by him, publicly, and the entire Senate, clone army and galaxy take it at face value. All the clones with chips instantly began to think that the Jedi betrayed them to take over the galaxy. Those few without chips didn't buy the lie, but it wasn't enough to undo the damage done.
this lightsaber design coupled with the Ezra tri saber handle looking similar to lukes makes me thing in the new canon he will find some texts that help him construct his second lightsaber.
Given how much of a "it needs to look like the old movies!" mentality TFA had, I'm actually surprised they gave the Falcon a new dish instead of just having Han replace it with an identical one after ROTJ
I see Talon being re-canonized very soon...
Why couldn't we get that? Lemme' guess, not "realistic" enough?
Aaaaand that's something I don't want. Always hated the "two colors" fanart that the kids draw all the time.
These are some lovely designs though
still coming. going slow cuz i have to reduce the file size
>scout trooper lenses as welding
>using the ultra zoom in them to get the welds perfect.
>Dave Filoni drew Felucia concept art for TFA
>We could have had Felucia, or other more interesting locations
>We just got Hoth/Yavin/Tatooine 2.0
Just listen to Filoni, JJ, please. Not everything has to look like Tunisia.
Wow, she... Is pretty. Also, A+ to the artist, because she looks a LOT like a young Hamill here. Like, in a "was this based of his actual family" kind of way.
I absolutely adore the location and her costume design too.
Hey, if anyone is a fan of Sidon I just got pic related. It's really well made, and the mask is great. It avoids the stupid faces these things usually have.
Hope he gets a black series in the future.
Ok I can't take this.
All of these phenomenal designs and locations.
>That Valley of neutralized, rotted AT-AT's.
This stuff needs to be reused. This is too good for Rebels too, I want that in Live-Action.
>nostalgia for Felucia
Hah, what? Felucia is just a much more vibrant and interesting location, than desert/hills/snow.
>knows ghost anakin hates sand
>covers self in it.
That I can actually agree with. I love the concept and design of Starkiller Base, but I definitely dislike how it was handled in the movie. Something to make it stand out a little more though, like the lava/ice combo seen here: >>79061241 ? Perhaps that would have made it more visually interesting to me.
That being said, I actually don't mind Starkiller Base at all, the forest in particular, a very well done location, very atmospheric.
Reminds me of pic related. No idea where this picture came from though.
>YFW we could have gotten an underwater sequence set in the wreckage of the first or second death star
Also, I suspect Vader's Castle is actually going to be used in the movies eventually. Been an idea floating around since the OT.
What the hell is this? I want more.
Never been a big fan of big bobbleheaded figures in general, and ya, the funko pop faces are pretty dumb. The only one I have was gifted to me. It's Venom and luckily avoids the dumb face.
Wait hold on...
This is implying that the Death Star II wasn't entirely destroyed, that some of it must have fallen to the Forest Moon of Endor?
Also this would have been a far better ending for the movie if you think about it. Rey is a scavenger, she should have found the map. Instead of R2 waking up just in time, so that Rey can fly to Ireland and stare at Mute Skywalker.
These are worse, I'll take the disdain Pop faces have over these.
True, but there's a bigger disconnect here. It's one thing to get a lesser version of what the concept art was, it's another to see these amazing ideas and yet the finished movie has "some tarps in Abu Dhabi"
>Maz was almost Macquarie Yoda
Bottom right drawing some inspiration from old Eastern Bloc monuments, I see.
>no long coat Han
>kylo ren ate sun energy at one point
I can't wait for the day when all this cool concept art has been reused and given names and canonical locations and stories around them, the way McQuarrie's concept art and old West End Games stuff has been recycled. There's a lot of cool stuff in there I'd like to see explored.
I watched the first episode of Clone Wars and frankly hated it. I'm assuming it finds its footing at some point with a clear plot and developing characters? If so, when does that start?
I've watched the first three or four episodes of Rebels and really don't like it. Does it become better in the ways I mention above?
I'm caving in to the zeitgeist and I would like to consume more Star Wars, but I want to enjoy it.
something so sexy about off center cockpits
Clone Wars starts to find its footing by the end of season 1, but definitely hits its stride by Season 3 and stays good.
If you don't like Rebels after the first few episodes, you probably won't like it at all.
>TIE Fighter panels that fold together like Venus Fly traps
That's a really interesting idea.
>we could've had a Jar Jar/"Goongas" cameo in Maz' castle
Clone Wars definitely gets better as it goes on.
What didn't you like the first episode? I honestly liked Yoda a lot in it and it also kind of established the foreshadowing of Clone development throughout the series when he talked to them inside the cave about individuality.
if this one ever gets released online in HD i would totally get it printed and framed. so fucking sexy
i live in australia. no i couldn't. even shipping it here would cost over $50
it wouldvt have been that courageous, since he wore a coat in ROTJ.
except it would have broken the ending of ROTJ where Anakin redeemed himself
>High Tech version of a pirate boarding party
Heres a viewing order someone posted in a thread yesterday i would suggest watching the episodes it says are optional
>Knight of Ren with a Sega Genesis on his head
True, though he doesn't wear it that long and it's not iconic like his Bespin coat. It's more of a commentary on everything. Everything is aged up but very visually similar to something in the OT in the film, while the art book shows recognizable elements in designs that have been vastly changed. Like the TIE.
Rey's house/hideout is cosy as fuck
what a piece of clutershit..
designing away without main concept..
Those are some god tier ship designs. I need these to be used in the future.
I really like a lot of those Kylo Ren concepts, even though they're definitely too much like Vader's.
Better than the retards in Europe using cities from the 1400's and trying to convert footpaths and horse carriage roads into modern ones or still living in buildings that Scrooge, Leonardo Da Vinci, and William Wallace lived in.
its just a pic of starkiller base as seen in the film
>a little bit too sci-fi for JJ
Fucking casual, bet he isn't even turned on by alien women.
Oh wait...shit he's not, thanks to into darkness' feline retconn.
Christ what a sad man.
I don't agree with what >>79062083 says Jedi steps >>79063303 was a pretty great way to end the film and setup the next, two generations meeting a dialog less scene with John Williams score and filmed on ancient untouched former Monk Monastery Skellig Michael island, I genuinely felt like I was witnessing something historic inside the Star Wars universe.
fucking loved that scene, Skellig is amazing and im glad its coming back in Ep 8
>most of the snow forest was a painting.
thats all folks.
hope you enjoyed it.
But they did, that's basically what he looks like. It's just hard to tell since he's in dim lighting most of the time.
Those TIEs were designed with Vader's fondest wish in mind: stabbing ships with other ships.
All hail the TIE Dagger! Straight for the heart, boys! You don't have shield emitters anyway and you crash into shit all the time despite being supposed ace pilots, put those crashing skills to use!
>I still really liked Jakku. Best Tatooine-ripoff by a wide margin.
The irony of that is they tried coming up with different designs for Jakku as a Junk Planet with a distinct ecosystem.
Like half the book is Jakku designs, partially flooded, with wetlands, glaciers, or super-industrial.
>>scout trooper lenses as welding
Rey's goggles are from standard Storm Trooper lenses.
Lucas actually did something similar with ROTS, while he was still working out the script he had the art department just go nuts and do whatever. That's why a lot of the planet and battle concepts they came up with were either used for the brief Order 66 scenes or discarded entirely- there was so much stuff he couldn't possibly apply most of it.
She was actually gonna pilot the Falcon underwater and then scavenge the map to Luke/Jedi from the Emperor's own thrown room.
A flooded/aquarium looking setting would be fantastic in the sequels.
From Michael Arndt's screenplay from George Lucas' story, the bad guy was "The Jedi Killer," destroying old Jedi temples and killing novice Jedi.
He wasn't the son of Leia & Han either, that was Sam, later re-imagined as Finn.
>Emperor's throne room
"Hello. Hellllooooo! Your beloved Emperor Palpatine is still down here! Doesn't anybody remember I took Plagueis' immortality serum made from fresh extracted youngling hearts and bitch tears, both of which I got from Anakin back in Episode III? Come on, guys, it's cold in this pit and my robes disintegrated years ago! ... I knew I should have spent some Force Points in Jump instead of Screaming Aerial Spin Attack. Spinning is just such a neat trick!"
"Hello, mysterious pit of Darkness. It is I, your servant Kylo Ren, back to meditate among your seething, eternal blackness."
"Oh for fucks sake, this emo bastard again. Hey, Napoleon Dynamite! Find me a rope! A roooope! And if it's gungan hemp, don't smoke it!"
"These mysterious whispers from the Darkness, what do they mean!? Can they tell me why I feel this pull to the right in my boxers?!"
"Get a haircut, hippie!"
When Leia tells Han, "It was Snoke who seduced our son," that, for me, was as ridiculous as Obi-Wan talking about "younglings." It just sounds so comical it kills any other emotional impact the scene had.
I´m really hooked on Rebels now that Vader showed up so I decided to watch some Clone Wars in order to learn more about ahsoka and her past.
I find it really sad the quality of Female Characters dropped so much from Clones to Rebels.
I mean ahsoka is actually really likeable and fun unlike those that pilot and mandorian form rebels which are just humorless and bossy.
Supposedly Sabine is getting more focus moving onward. Either they just wanted to establish Ezra in season one and always planned this or they realized there's potential/interest in showing a boy and a girl, roughly the same age, running around in the galaxy, and not always together. Each with their own stories central to the show, etc.
yeah but even supporting characters in the Clone Wars are more likable and come of as more real then those two.
All they have do is make annoyed comments and looks when ever one of the male characters does something stupid.
Plus unlike Ahoska or the other characters form Rebels they are never presented with any challenge and therefore never grow or change.
I find it really hard to care about them
would be cool if boys could at least once get a character simular like Sabien
Ezra is just another whimp that gets made fun of constantly.
Sabine on the other hand constantly get portrayed as perfect and as on top of things
Qui-Gon talked him into it.
Sometimes it's better not to do everything ghosts tell you.
I like to think there's some real motorhead explanation for the design.
>The rear facing stabilization prongs makes this speeder bike unmatched in tight turns and maneuverability, perfect for those urban planet races. Be sure to practice before taking this bad girl out as the over sensitive controls can catch you off guard it you're not prepared for it.
And I thought you two were talking about this guy with the booster rocket for his lower body.
Wow, the whole old school retro sci-fi influence really left as soon as George stepped out. There's no real sense of direction or vision tyo a lot of this concept art at all. All I'm gleaning from it is a "life in a post-Empire galaxy"
>He'd have to be partially inside the trash can.
He's sitting on top, no penetration.
But where is his ass? Oh shit, that can is his ass? Cybernetic thorax, dude, this is my favorite Ren guy right here. I can't wait to see him in battle. Ass blasting some resistance mofos.
He's just sitting on a drum for some reason, probably just to break up the monotony of the line up, or show he doesn't give a shit
You can't see his ass because his feet are folded in front of him, he's not integrating into it
At least as long as the "IS VADER SNOKE" theory, it'll last till we see who Snoke is
He'll be a new character, just watch
If you try to account for that guy's chest, stomach, AND pelvis it's obvious that there is either a piece missing, he's in a really weird C shaped contortion of his spine, or that can is an advanced First Order porta-john. Probably derived from the gonk droid only it waddles around the place, splashing, and repeating, "Kill me," in droidspeak.
Dude, give it up. You're trying all these mental gymnastics when what you need to do is drop your pants and submit to the glory that is mobile waste collection droid P-00. His top ring has an auto bun warmer. It's so nice, like your sphincter is being caressed by the hands of scatological angels.
He's sitting on a barrel.
That's obviously a keyboard guitar. You can see the strap and everything. The Knights of Ren are obviously heavy metal warriors in the tradition of KISS, the Knights in Sheev's Service.
No, I like her too. And yes, Ahsoka was kinda annoying but with every season she becane more tolerable and mature. That's why she's a great character, because she grows and change with the events of the show
In fact he's got a pizza cutter on a stick.
>Knight of Ren #4: Here, if you have a pizza, and I have a pizza, and I have a cutter. There it is, that's a cutter, you see? Watch it. Now, my cutter reaches acroooooooss the room and starts to cut your pizza. I... cut... your... pizza!
>Knight of Ren #4: I cut it up!
>Kylo Ren: Don't bully me!
>[Knight of Ren #4 roars and throws Kylo across the room]
>Knight of Ren #4: Did you think your whining and tantrums and your superstition would help you, Kylo? I am the Third Revelation! I am who the Force has chosen!
Which must be why the movie gave us all these great new designs like the First Order flying box transport and the Resistance flying box transport, and the all-new all different X-Wings and TIE fighters with revolutionary never before dreamed of looks. Then there is all the McQuarrie redux.
Except he clearly does have the same number of digits
>Which must be why the movie gave us all these great new designs like the First Order flying box transport and the Resistance flying box transport, and the all-new all different X-Wings and TIE fighters with revolutionary never before dreamed of looks. Then there is all the McQuarrie redux.
The McQuarrie rehashing has been happening for years, and on the prequels too.
The Force Awakens had to wear a lot of hats, and one of them was simply establishing a modern Star Wars.
To be fair, the First Order flying box makes sense, its literally a space AAV 7. The Resistance has no excuse
Opposite reasons for the X-Wings, Resistance is making do with military surplus T-65 and 70's, but the only reason they went with the classic TIE is that it's the classic TIE.
Reusing McQuarrie's work isn't the problem, in fact it's fine, it's just that they earn no points for originality by using work we've seen since the 70s. Callbacks are a different artistic category, akin somewhat to nostalgia. Something to appreciate, as some people do in Rebels, but not actually considered original or innovative. The people behind Rebels don't treat it as such, though, just as I'm sure the people behind TFA do not. They're pretty clear about where they are drawing their designs and aren't trying to hide anything or take any credit.
Why would you have your pilot sticking out from the top like he's in his own personal coffin, completely exposed? He should be contained inside the armored hull and just using something like a periscope or whatever.
Makes it easier to steer, and gives you a better sense of where the ship is and how to move it
These things aren't really designed for a battlefield, they're just to insert troops then bug out
>Reusing McQuarrie's work isn't the problem, in fact it's fine, it's just that they earn no points for originality by using work we've seen since the 70s.
TFA is retro on purpose.

If TFA looked too different people would complain "it was unrecognizable as star wars"
Hopefully we'll see more interesting variants as the movies and other stuff come out, those TIE Interceptor look alikes are too cool to let go
Plus I want an explanation for this thing
