Aura isn't absolute, strong enough impacts can probably shear through it, like speeding trucks or extremely thin filaments shot with a magic railgun pulse, for example.

So what the fuck was Cinder trying to accomplish this episode? I get that her little monologue means that she's probably trying to sow chaos and turn people against the government / ozluminati, but the timing of the speech makes it pretty obvious to the general public that she at least had something to with both Penny's 'death' and the coming Grimm attack - which kind of undermines her entire message.

Wouldn't it suit her needs better to just continue laying low and let other people call out Ozpin for training shitty hunters and Ironwood for his military being too inept to stop Grimm attacks?

And why did Mercury even bother revealing himself to Ruby if he was just going to let her go anyway?

Maybe I'm just over analyzing sub-par writing, but I want to believe there's a point to it all. ;_;

I think Cinder has a backstory that will explain her motivations but not really be that tragic. Personally, I think her reason for stealing Amber's power is that she expected to be the Fall maiden. Maiden succession isn't hereditary, but I can imagine it naturally leaning towards a family as many people will think of their relatives when near death. Something went wrong and Amber got the power, angering Cinder.

The only thing I can think - at least in the instance of Penny, which is the first example of what you're talking about that comes to mind - is that Pyrrha was initially supposed to fuck up someone like Yang. Once they realized that a girl with polarity can violently rip apart a robot, and make Atlas look like shit in the process, Yang becomes superfluous and they can eliminate her to gain extra goodwill and act as sort of bait for the Grimm.

I think there's definitely room for her to have more complicated goals than "doing evil for evil's sake", but I'd like her to be completely evil at heart. Never really was a normal or sane person. I'm saying that the cultural upbringing is not a carbon copy of our own, and not only is their exposure to different kinds of technology different than ours, but their whole idea of how to approach it is different. they seem a lot less naturally inquisitive about how the world works, and seem more focused on pragmatic affairs like how to make city defenses or travel between kingdoms more safe and reliable. that would likely lead to a culture of complacence among the citizenry over any given invention coming out, and they only bother even giving a SECOND THOUGHT about what the governments are doing if it personally affects them.

I wonder if we're going to get a moment in this season where Jaune finnaly gets to display his Semblance? I mean if i remenber right, Pyrrha unlocked the one he had with her own, and claimed that it seemed fairly potent.

Either she was bullshiting him to get him motivated, or something bad has to happen to her to make him lose his shit and display it fully.

Yeah, hell, I'd just like someone in the show to go totally berserker and Jaune seems like it would have the biggest impact aside from say Ruby. The image of a happy go luck doofball of a knight going pic related really intrigues me on a lot of creative levels.
