eh. cops arent usually very interesting or good in fiction.. basically the same issue with god. If they were any good, they'd stop trouble and there'd be no story. more to the point, the right thing to do in the story would be to just leave it to them. if they're incompetent, then why are they around? it just doesn't fit.. better to just ignore them and portray a scenario where they arent coming to the rescue and the plucky kids need to take matters into their own hands

I get what you're saying, but at the same time, there's tons of works which feature police as the protagonists. Definitely not enough comics like that.

Although it's usually detectives or special investigators instead of beat cops.

I guess my favorite would be Elisa from Gargoyles
it was nice how they didnt just forget she was a cop, she still had her own set of regulations.. she felt restricted from getting involved in disputes outside of her jurisdiction sometimes.. she actually showed the capability that would come with her training.
