>>78989086 You do realize that there were other Earths that had pastiches of other companies characters, right? Several that were already pastiches? And a few worlds without their own Justice Leagues. TL;DR Read the fucking book before you bitch, you fucking bitch.
>>78989904 >>78990013 >Using some of these 52 universes Yes. Anon in >>78989838 was too dismissive. The Multiversity Too brand will be a series of OGNs set in the various Earths established in the Multiversity series. Multiversity Too as in Multiveristy ALSO, not Multiversity 2. It'll be more in line with Countdown/Final Crisis tie-ins.
>>78991791 >No, no, it's okay, all the old stories and worlds you loved still exist! Just in objectively worse, completely uninteresting forms with none of the history or charm that you grew up reading and loving them for :^)
It's amazing that they managed to take an event that was supposed to have ZERO effect on the state of DC canon and make it actively damage it instead.
Yeah, Abnett's on it now for good, but we don't know how much longer "for good" is. With how things have been going, we're all expecting a JLU-type situation where a great new writer gets brought in only for the series to get cancelled like six issues later right when it was getting good.
>>78991791 I feel the only way this could really work is if you played as Ultra Comics needing to use the fact that every other Earth is a comic in Earth Prime to hop to each. You could also theoretically make it a sort of sequel to Justice Incarnate instead
>>78995553 Have you read the worlds that Convergence showcased? Most are different from what's established. the Earth-2 we see had Crimson Avenger alive (even though he wasn't) and people aware that Superman married Lois (the public were only supposed to know Clark married Lois). The vampire world we saw had a vampire Poison Ivy, even though Poison Ivy never became a vampire during the Batman vampire trilogy. The Kingdom Come world had Alan Scott being vulnerable to yellow (when it should've been wood).
In other words, the worlds that you think got destroyed didn't really get destroyed or rebooted and replaced with the New 52/Multiversity versions. Just variants of them.
>>78986287 Can someone explain to me how/why Vertigo is its own Universe in the multiverse and not part of the main continuity? I mean before COIE Swamp Thing and Hellblazer were shown to be part of the main DC universe, I think Sandman too. I guess Technically Sandman could take place on Earth-2 because of Wesley Dodds and the JSA, but that doesn't matter because after the crisis the worlds were merged, and Neil Gaiman's Sandman story chronologically takes place after the crisis. So at what point did Vertigo split into its own universe, is this just some New 52 bullshit?
>>79006396 I keep hearing people say that the Constantine in Hellblazer isn't the same one in Brightest Day. I mean, why did he get younger? The same with Timothy Hunter in JLD, they destroyed his orginal continuity.
>>79006509 Well that kinda pisses me off. There should be some characters immune to reboots. I mean, I guess the endless are. But DC rewrote the continuity for Lucifer even though the new one is supposed to be a direct sequel. Why can't they just give characters a definitive end?
DeMatteis would be a bad fit. His JLD fucking sucked. He was worst than Fawkes in it.
His Phantom Stranger was also very mediocre. There were some nice issues, but mostly it was mediocre. I don't know why /co/ praise it so much. Probably because there was a lot of bad books back then and people were accepting anything that could be passed as decent.
>>79007628 What was so medciore about Phantom Stranger? And what do YOU like?
Phantom Stranger had a lot of heart in it, the title character felt like a real character, he had emotions(perfectly displayed by Blanco's expressive art) and went through a lot. It made great use of other existing magic DC charcters as well as created very interesting ones. It's textbook good run.
His JLD was not good but that's because it was editors wanted it to be a superhero book, and not a magic book(Milligan mentions this). He had his moments with some characters.
Also, I would suggest you read up on some older comics, DeMatteis is well know for doing great spiritual/mystic comic book. Moonshadow, Willworld, Blood, Man-Thing, Dr. Strange: Into Shamballa, The Last One, Dr. Fate, Spectre...
>>79009979 Personally I don't think Superman should exist on Earth-5 or Earth-S, but if he does he should be 1938 version who couldn't fly and was only invunerable to bursting shells and lesser weapons. It'd be a way to allow Captain Marvel to still be the top hero of his world.
>>79014795 I kind of want to see more Earths where they mix and match different characters from different lines and worlds yet don't use all of them. The Pre-Crisis Earth-S actually had Kid Eternity as Captain Marvel Jr's brother, even though Kid Eternity was never a Fawcett character (he was published by Quality Comics).
Like for instance imagine a world where Gotham By Gaslight happened (with Bruce Wayne confined to the late 1800's/early 1900's; if there's any future Batmen it's all descendants) and the only Golden Age heroes around during the 1940's were the Freedom Fighters; Uncle Sam, Doll Man, Phantom Lady, all that. And then in the 50's J'onn comes to Earth and Hal Jordan became the first Green Lantern of Earth (with Guy, John, and Kyle to follow) but none of the other Silver Age heroes are around. And then in the 90's Martian Manhunter and the Green Lanterns have to deal with a covert war between the Kherubim and Daemonites happening on Earth.
Bets on what are the 7 Mysterious Earths created by the Monitor Magi? Maybe a few are properties that we know fo but haven't been mentioned yet, like the CWverse or the DCEU or game like Injustice? And what would be their function exactly? Why were they created?
>>79022204 IIRC in Superman Beyond the Earth-6 we see was the Marvel analogue Earth (which got changed to Earth-8 in Multiversity).
>so everyone who dies during Convergence returned to life cept Batman rogues?
I'm not even sure (cause if the Pre-Flashpoint Batman rogues are dead then 90's Catwoman is also dead and Pre-Crisis Earth-1 Steve Trevor and Etta Candy are vampires now, and Earth-2 Green Arrow and Speedy died before they could die in the Crisis on Infinite Earths). Of course, if they all got rebooted it ended up not mattering if they lived or died. But then there was an epilogue in Infinity Inc that doesn't make sense because Jay's not old in the main Convergence mini and sounds more like as if it took place after Convergence finished.
>>79022367 Yeah some tie ins like Batgirl or Nitghwing and Oracle have that epilogue too. Makes me think thay they still exist andlife goes on. If so, then I want to see some series about what happened with the original or pre crisis/flashpoint earths because the end of Convergence.
>Earth 14: Combination of two video game worlds. One combines the Scribblenauts and Lego universes, where new worlds are created, while the other consists of the Injustice and Mortal Kombat worlds and destroys old worlds. >Earth 24: Hanna-Barbera Earth. Heroes include the Blue Falcon, Dynomutt, Birdman, Frankenstein Jr, the Impossibles, what have you. There currently is an epidemic of teenage mystery teams there. >Earth 25: Anime Earth. Masked Hero Ao-Biteru leads the Justice League, which is composed of Pretty Gem Warrior Amythyst, Red L.N.T.R.N. pilot Razer, fanservice-prone alien princess Starfire, and Arale-like Captain Marvel. >Earth 27: CW-verse. >Earth 28: DCEU. >Earth 46: CN City. All Cartoon Network characters are there, even the new ones. Imagine Bleedman, but with less autism and loli fetishes. >Earth 49: Earth-Milestone, I guess. Keep in mind there also infinite multiverses, so we could get anything from any Earth.
>And what would be their function exactly? To have interesting plots, Elseworlds situations, crossovers.
>Why were they created? To house any TBD Earths DC could think up.
