Has anyone else noticed the irony in some of the songs in S2? Like in "Cry For Help", Amethyst has a song, but re-watching the episode, it actually sounds more like a song about Pearl. In "We Need To Talk", Rose and Greg have a song, but the song could just easily also be about Pearl's feelings for Rose. "What Can I Do For You" kind of echos Pearl blurting out "Just Let Me Do This For You" and IIRC she had a song like that.

Not really, Garnet was my favorite from the start. Those were just the two examples that immediately come to mind.

To elaborate, the Amethyst song has these lyrics:

These lyrics actually make barely any sense coming from Amethyst, but sounds a lot like Pearl's business in that episode. When the jig is up, she even says she just loves feeling powerful. "Being us" as in "being Sardonyx."

I'll just say first I'm not shitposting.

I've been trying really hard to watch the show, I seriously have. There are so many good ideas, and the episodes like the Jasper one was fucking fantastic. The problem is that most of the characters are just so unlikable.

I can't fucking stand Pearl. She's a manipulative, overly-obsessive snob who's a complete bitch to everyone almost all of the time. Then out of nowhere, they'll make an episode where her personality does a 180 and she randomly treats people fine. It's so inconsistent that it's annoying. In fact, almost ALL of the characters are entirely inconsistent, especially the three Crystal Gems. Some episodes they're fine, but in others they are complete assholes. You can try hard to explain away why they are so shitty to Greg, but at the end of it all I can see is these arrogant dicks shitting on a guy who is nothing but supportive despite how they treat him. In fact, Peridot is the only Crysal Gem I actually do like, and so far she's been the only one that's consistently written.

Another problem is the forced drama on a constant basis. Some of it works when it's about stuff like the Cluster, but then there'll be drama that is so completely forced that it's amazing people treat it seriously.

Garnet checks out tho, especially if you think of it more as a Ruby song toward Sapphire. Ruby doesn't really care about herself (literally always says "who cares?" whenever asked how she is), hence "I think I'm bad." She was completely selfless (in the "I have a very low opinion of my self and barely care about my own existence" kind of way) and didn't know anything like love until Sapphire came along. She learned to love like her.
