The only things that made Spawn more adult than any other action cartoon were 1. blood 2. cursing 3. sexuality, none of which are really needed for a good show

Don't get me wrong, I love HBO's Spawn but the whole idea of what's "adult" and what isn't is kind of stupid...a good story/series isn't limited to age or defined by shock value, which is why most edgy comedies as you put it all suck...there is no story and all shock value

Action cartoons on cartoon network don't have body counts, drugs, demons, child molesters, etc. There was a lot of subject matter that wouldn't fly outside of an adult swim comedy.

Yeah but the point is none of that makes a good story alone...Spawn would have been good if it wasn't "shocking", typically it's only kids who are constantly eager to appear more adult through things that shock others
