How do we improve off of pic related? Imagine her new 52 book never happened, so where do we take Kate after Elegy? How do we differentiate her from every other bat book like Grayson managed to do?
Start her new run explaining away that she was a vampire or whatever as quickly as possible and then have her start traveling the world exploring urban legends and myths.
Just a simple mostly episodic book where she explores the weird and saves people best she can from it.
Its been done before sure but it's a safe idea and that's kind of what she needs right now. Something safe and easy for new readers to wrap their heads around.
Ive only read new 52 up until JHWIII left, but I'd like her to get more into occult-esque stories/,ore grounded dark stories with only a hint of supernatural stuff. Continue working with the DEO but stop involving her character in boring Mexican Ghost shit etc. other than that, there's not much to fix.
I still haven't read these issues but everytime I remember it I get so angry.
Started reading batwoman after some anon recommended and stuck with the character after DC fucked up the whole marriage thing
Jesus, reading post marriage fiasco batwoman was like watching a train wreck in slow motion
The book was kind is shit and the vampire rape was just beyond retarded
But back to the original question, to fix batwoman and undo the damage I think we need a good team book with the Unknowns
Get a good writer artist team and make a book about Batwoman, Alice, Ragman, Clayface and Etrigan dealing with magical bullshit in Gotham
This. Even with solid talent on her book she fails to shine. What does she even offer as a character? Over-dramatic lesbian relationships?
No, DC should keep their good writers on better characters. Like Cassandra Cain, for example.
did anyone story time after issue 24?
and what the fuck happened? Read through #34 here quickly.... look, I had some issue with how 1-24 were done, but over all, it was a concise story, and the art, while not always my favorite, was exceptional and unique. This? This is complete garbage!
>This. Even with solid talent on her book she fails to shine. What does she even offer as a character? Over-dramatic lesbian relationships?
>I don't like this character so nobody should enjoy said character.
No fuck you
1-24 was done in two parts in the last few days. I just want to see how that storyline ends. from what I read in 35, I have no interest in going to 40.
Still, there are other readers besides me, and if you want to storytime it, i'm sure it'll be appreciated.
I remember in the writer's notes of 52, that Rucka said he caught flak for having Dick flirt with Kate and saying that he had a thing for redheads. Rucka defended it by saying that it's obviously true.
A vehicle for fags to whine about don't don't ask don't tell, which doesn't exist. Everything Rucka wrote was dated. Even if you retool her, she's a shitty concept that he used as tool to show off Williams art and bitch.
What's with all the Batwoman fan art depicting her as a lesbian sexual predator?
She fights urban legends and low-grade mythical creatures in Gotham instead of crime. That was how her successful books showed her, and it's a great, easily executed idea. The fact that it got so badly fucked up is only because they put a z-grade writer on the title. Any dumbshit of room temp iq could write a decent Batwoman story if they just stuck to the Kate vs. Monsters premise.
I shouldn't be surprised that /co/ readers miss the mark so hard, but Batwoman was a unique take on that Bat-mythos that had a lot more to offer than her fighting mythical creatures. Her run was an exploration of the military aspects of Batman and superheroes in general. She was a loyal government operative up until she couldn't be anymore (and fuck the guy who says don't ask don't tell doesn't exist, it did at the time you moron), and her decisions to operate outside of the boundaries of the law that she had been loyal to her whole life highlighted unique facets of the street vigilante's dilemma. Not to mention the attempt to bring back the DEO, which is an excellent part of the DCU that offered an abundance of areas to explore when the government decides to get involved with the capes (and I'm aware it's not the first time that this has occurred in the DCU, but it still remains fairly new territory and there is certainly nothing that comes close in the new 52). Kate was turning into a true black-ops superhero, and while you can argue that we don't need yet another member of the Bat-family I think that she had carved a unique portion of it out for herself and had built a large cast of supporting characters that were her own and lent themselves to limitless storytelling opportunities.
all this is true
it just makes it worse horse shit that she was fucking ruined so hard
honestly the lesbian stuff was the least interesting thing about her, as sexuality should be in a cape. that's what she's known for because people can't read stuff beyond the surface level and most of them never even bothered to read her books at all. it's fucking infuriating that she was ruined how she was.
Well, it doesn't help that after Williams left, the next writer went into crazy lesbian fanfiction territory with vampire sex. Is it really that surprising that people only know her for her sexuality?
>be super badass colonel
>kick terrorist ass all over the globe
>have loving family, wife and twin daughters
>everything pretty much perfect
>family gets kidnapped by terrorists
>wife and one of the daughters killed
>try to make things better by raising daughter to be a good person
>daughter decides to join the Marines
>be proud father, remarry and start thinking everything will be OK from now on
>daughter drops out of the Marines and becomes vigilante, inspired by a guy who dresses as a giant bat
>since daughter insists on being giant bat, train her in spec ops martial arts and shit so she doesn't die fighting random goons or whatever
>turns out other daughter isn't dead and was indoctrinatinated and is now evil as fuck super villain
>vigilante daughter captures crazy daughter
>get crazy daughter psychiatric care so she stops being crazy
>crazy daughter decides to become crazy vigilante with sister
Feel kinda sorry for Batwoman's dad
Being Colonel Kane must be suffering
