In today's strip, Kirbee amazes us yet again with her incredible sense of priority.
Previous thread: >>78791432.
>>78907230
Is that Holly?
No. Stop. Wait. Is that Kirby as a human?
Have we been led on an elaborate ruse this entire time?
Was Holly even a real person or some kind of projection to test Wally for some unknown reason?
WHAT IS GOING ON
>>78907230
Holly has been controlling the Dittos because she flipped out. She's behind all this.
>>78907317
>Kirby
fuck I meant *Holly*
>>78907230
If that's Holly then we are approaching Evangelion levels of Deus Ex Machina.
>>78907351
Clearly this. Everyone is too fixated on Marx but this looks like entirely of dittos controlled by some person. Marx has every capability to make this situation worse or more weird and I don't see why he would even be here
>>78907317
>Is that Holly?
Read the comic so you can stop asking stupid questions.
>>78907365
No, you meant *Kirbee* THEN you meant *Holly*.
>>78907426
>If that's Holly
Oh for Jim's sake.
I don't think it's Holly, didn't she already have a flashback to when she was human? I wanna say right before they got to Unity.
>>78907528
Correct.
>>78907317
Holly looks like this.
>>78907230
Wait, Holly is black?
>>78907853
There's only a few posts and you didn't bother to read anything?
>>78907853
We already had a mini-flashback with Holly
see>>78907788
>>78907528
Holly has been observed in-universe as someone who has a lot of trouble letting go of her past. She's going to need a full on ditto-assisted flashback to delve into the core of her problem.
>>78907230
>they actually get breakfast
I LOL'd
>>78907466
It isn't Marx. He already appeared in Wally's visions recently. If he was going to show up now it would not have made sense to have him in that vision.
This is someone else with access to Dittos and possibly pre-apocalyptic tech.
Me? I'm betting for a monstrous-mutant who mastered the dittos because his or her body would be too Lovecraftian for most.
>>78907230
>I don't wanna die!!!
Oh, Chic. You went from being Unity's red headed step-child to:
-Almost poisoned by your father.
-Almost strangled by JimGod.
-Almost burned alive.
-Almost executed by the Unity survivors.
-Almost decapitated or vaporized by Topsiders two or three times.
-Almost fell into a giant hole in the ground.
-Almost dead by starvation or dehydration.
And during most of it he has dealt with it quite well.
I wonder if he is truly freaked out by the unexplained floating or if he is scared of heights.
It would make sense for baby birds to be scared of falling so they institutionally begin beating their wings the moment they are pushed off the nest.
In other news, Chic as Kirbee's backpack is still cute and resolves the issue of traversing long distances with a child.
The art for the original Post-Unity story had Chic as sort of a foster child for Wally and Holly, but Holly's sickness has delayed that.
>>78907853
>wearing a waitress outfit in a restaurant
>clearly thats holly and clearly she's suddenly black!!!
>nevermind the fact that even if it somehow automatically had to be someone we knew, we already saw a shitload of other non-confirmed white waitresses in endtown

>I wonder if he is truly freaked out by the unexplained floating or if he is scared of heights.
>It would make sense for baby birds to be scared of falling so they institutionally begin beating their wings the moment they are pushed off the nest.
Genius.
It IS all an illusion...

>>78912589

I haven't sold sketches on eBay in years. What are you missing, I'll replace it
>>78912554
>sameface/samebody
you could literally say the same of most furry artists... chalo is the best example of this.
>stiffs people on comissions
i have commissioned him couple times already and gotten my money's worth, so i absolutely have no idea what you mean by this.
>>78912702
>he's shite artist
>i bought stuff from him
Could this all be the Deadeyes trying to smoke Marx out?
>>78913245
They seem to hate the dittos so I can't imagine Deadeyes using them at all.
>>78913378
Yeah, I would really rather this wasn't Marx again. Maybe Aaron has something new up his sleeve. Let's not forget about this mystery boat either. I'd still like to know what it's about.
>>78913455
Wasn't it confirmed to be Marx's ship?
>>78913561
No, they said it was similar to Marx's ship
>>78913245
Probably.
>>78907757
What I wanna know is what happened to Lyn.
Probably something awful that I'll regret learning about, but I'm still curious how he wound up.
>>78913455
Look at the bright side, at least he'd annoy more than just Wally.
>>78914063
>What I wanna know is what happened to Lyn.
he ded...
>>78914068
that flask is definitely much better than the first one.
also is nice to see you active on the thread. i read about the flood, hope everything is okey.

>>78915733
>flask shows up
>wally flips tits
>flask apologizes for everything and explains wally what happened to her
>gives wally a little peck in the cheeks
>kirbee turns red with jealousy
>>78914063
Probably something horrible like he was mutated like Holly and he up and left her to 'find himself.'. I'm certain we'll see Holly abandoned during this flashback.
Whats the story behind these two?

DK must make everything he draws cute. For the last month he's been trapped drawing Judy Hopps.
He may never return alive.
>>78907230
She said "AND," you sheisters. AND. As in, "after the following".
>>78914068
You draw girls so often you forgotten how to draw a man.
Aaron has been reading the last 5 threads and is delighted with the various reactions and comments.
Congratulations /co/mrades!
Is the author of this comic a furry? Just curious.
>>78921235
>>78921432
Define furry?
Aaron has said he digs anthro chicks.
>>78921915
He also most likely has no interest in doing any of the furry fandom shit. You can like anthro stuff even has a fetish without being into the fandom. There's still no black and white definition of of being a furry.
I miss Jim

He never gives spoilers but is always happy to talk about the comic, or clarify points. Go ahead and write him, he'd love to hear YOUR thoughts on Endtown

Well, good bye Kirbee.
I WANT TO SEE WALLY AND KIRBEE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
>>78922050
Same here.
Love anthro women, have zero interest in the fandom. Still consider myself to be furry.
>>78923652
I don't think he'd go after Kirbee, if he did he'd be too predictable because every-time a lovable character is introduced we'd know they have not long to live.
>>78924333
he'd go for wally himself.
>>78922050
This, while i find the characters sexually attractive, i have absolutely no intentions of going to furry cons, wearing fursuits or gettting involved in fandom drama.
if this makes me furry, well so fucking be it.
>>78924669
>i have absolutely no intentions of going to furry cons, wearing fursuits or getting involved in fandom drama.
Why U no Furfag?!
>>78923082
He wasn't exactly a good fellow, but damn did he get hit hard and we care for him about it.
>Turned into a mutant out of love to your cancer-filled girlfriend turning mutant
>Gets captured and separated from Sarah in an all-lizard society
>Discovers she cheated on him with another lizard
>Goes completely insane from the revelation and turns into an avatar for a psychotic god.
He didn't deserve any of that shit.Aaron really does well with sympathetic villains, doesn't he?
>>78922251
I miss him more
>>78924669
I think /co/ in general falls into that category.
>>78928567
Most people who like anthropomorphic animals probably do.
>>78912270
>Next month, it's revealed Endtown is another game from housepets deities
>>78926665
Honestly, for being a furry comic, Aaron really does complex characters well. Few characters are totally good or bad, most just want to lookout for themselves.
>>78923082
The guys story was pretty tragic.
>>78929143
Jim did nothing wrong
>>78928753
>for being a furry comic
It's not a furry comic. It wasn't made for furries.
What makes most furry comics bad is that they focus on the furry appeal instead of the story because those comics were made to be shared with furries because sharing "art" is a popular thing in the community.
Aaron makes comics because he likes to make comics and tell stories, he has been doing it since before Endtown. He also likes to draw cartoony animals but not because of the furry fandom, he just does.
>>78921235
I don't think he's really involved in the fandom (which, if you ask me, is the only meaningful way to interpret that question when asked about an artist), although he has an inactive FA and has been to a couple cons. He was unaware of the fandom when he started Endtown and it's pretty clear that isn't the direction his influences come from.

I wasn't really sure how to make her muzzle work. And I forgot her species.
>>78933429
she's a stoat
>>78933736
You're kidding me, right? She had a very leonine tail in the reference material as well as the very cartoony leonine ears... oh well.
>>78933921
thats why she has rounded ears and is generally taller and skinnier than the rest of the girls.
>>78934103
Well yeah just she resembles a cartoony feline (Mountain lion or a lion) in a way so the muzzle is kinda driven towards that. Again - it's too late to fix that...
>>78934153
its good i think its cool piece regardless
>>78929143
I got into this comic only a few months ago, what was the general /co/ reaction to his kicking the bucket?
>>78935449
everyone was skeptical when he died, people were almost sure he was gonna make a comeback of some sorts...
>>78935449
No one really minded it. Everyone was expecting him to die but they were wondering the most on how he was gonna kill everyone in lizardtown
I like the newspaper art style
>>78939176
Fun fact: Al and Gustine were characters Aaron originally created for his college newspaper. He stated that Endtown was made with the intent of just giving their story a closure, but obviously it later served more than that
>>78939504
Cool! Hope for other characters stories getting a proper ending.

>evangelion end game headcanon
>>78946738
They are all people inside but denying their bodies is what makes them go crazy. It's like otherkin IRL not wanting to accept that they're human.
Jim's dead self being depicted as a human is understandable because he never wanted or accepted becoming a raccoon, he only did it for Sarah. Chic has been a bird all his life, at most he probably wished to be a lizard like the rest of his "family".
>>78946738
Milk Trial seemed kind of silly as a premise but once you see Unity...
>>78947083
Both Allgood and Jackrabbit were wrong because they were extremists.
>>78946971
That's fair. At the time I just wanted to imagine what he would have looked like if he had physical humanity since I was a bit curious.
>>78947083
Unity's exactly the kind of degenerate society Allgood was preaching against. Jackrabbit may be preaching what he is but if the people in Endtown ended up giving away all their humanity to embrace the creatures they've become it'd be a situation of the food chain at work. Who the fuck wants to eat beans? They're ANIMALS, and Mr. Lenny Lion is hungry for some real food.
That neighbor of his isn't a pig but a viable source of bacon and chops. That rabbit who led the revolution tastes very good with a bit of seasoning. That duck who has been working his ass off keeping his ungrateful butt safe would be wonderful broiled in his own delicious juices.
And then somehow it comes to the day where the colony is no longer sustainable, the food production gone, and the resources tapped.

After the Prequel merchandise campaign hit jackpot he does not need to work for at least a year.
A guy who updates 5 times a year gets more cash than Aaron, who updates constantly and on time. Talk about justice.
>>78952031
well, his comic is based on the Tes lore which already had a massive fan base established, so its not surprising it has a cult following. specially since bethesda drones will eat any shit.
i personally dislike it, not just because of the horrible update schedule, but because the comic is absolutely nothing more that waifufag shit, "im cute! but im a slut! ill fuck anything that walks!", the moment katia started to develop a relationship with some necromancer, kaz decided to kill him the dumbest way possible. i guess you have to keep katia single for your audience.
>>78952031

>>78951899
We've been following Wally & Holly long enough to see their ups and downs. We're just yet to see Kirbee at her worst.
>>78953134
Somehow i don't see Kirbee threatening to beat Chic, screaming at Wally to help her, endangering everyone's life for an inanimate object, and dragging everyone else down with suicidal bullshit over something that happened years ago
No amount of rationalization will change the fact that Holly is no good whatsoever for Wally, anon. The only reason she ever mattered is because she was there first.
>>78953129
What, being delusional? I guess you would.
>>78953268
Being butthurt that your waifu is getting sidelined. shit happens, bro.
>>78953193
>inanimate object
The thing is Clive was not entirely an object, he was a person that was talking to everyone and there was precedent of a PT brain being taken from one body to another, having his mind unlocked and becoming an Endtown citizen. And Holly had no idea the brain had a tracker in it. For all she knew the rest of the PT had and topsiders were simply scanning the area.
>>78953193
>No amount of rationalization will change the fact that Holly is no good whatsoever for Wally, anon.
Okay, I wouldn't have put it so harshly, but you're essentially correct. Despite everything, thing might just not work out with Wally & Holly. No biggie, that doesn't automatically mean that he has nothing more to do with her.
Holly desperately needs to step up, admit she has a problem, and work to deal with it. Remember Marx's cryptic comment to her about letting go of her past. Kirbee has NOTHING to do with Holly's problems (that comes straight from Aaron), but Holly's pride is tripping her up. She's not a bad person; far from it. But she's become one of those friends you know that tries to 'fix' everyone elses lives, rather than dealing with her own problems...
>>78953309
A precedent that revolves entirely around the efforts of Mallard McDeusExMachina
And considering they had no intention of ever going back to endtown (until Holly tried to kill them, now being even more of dead weight by negating months of progress through the wasteland), that wasn't happening
>>78953193

>>78953443

>>78953466
So... years ago.
???
>>78953443
You have to go quite a bit further back than just one year. She's had a long journey to end up where and how she presently is. While Kirbee's story is only just beginning.
And given his track record, I doubt Wally wants to risk breaking her like everything else.
>>78953473
But we dont know Kirbees history
>>78953483
my bad, i read a year ago.
>>78953473
A year ago Holly was running from toxic gas after a run in with JimGod and Kirbee was looking for her, so Wally would not let himself get killed over her death. And everyone was shitting their pants about her possibly dying.
And all we knew of Kirbee was that she's a good natured retard, which hasn't really changed.
>>78953526

>>78953601

And above that his motivation is to take Holly back to endtown and get rid of her, before he continues on with his quest to leave the wasteland.
>>78953601

Clive was never a replacement for Wally, he was a surrogate child. Holly had something happen to her that made it extremely difficult for her to let people go. She says it herself multiple times, like when Wally leaves with Flask.
Do people seriously think she replaced Wally? She thinks its her responsibility to save everyone.
>>78954375

Just noticed something. They all jumped, then on the 6th you can see them starting to shift into a sitting position. None of the other guests seem to notice anything the least bit odd about their appearance.
I'm starting to think they've actually been sitting in the restaurant since just before Wally and Kirbee started making out, and the ditto's are making them appear human. Which would explain why the waitress appears disturbed.
>Fuck, what a night.
>Working a double shift when I get this table, some short guy, some tall woman, and this little kid kinda dressed up like Pinocchio.
>They come in, sit down, then the guy and the woman start making out while the kid looks freaked out.
>I didn't catch what they said, but then the kid starts screaming about flying and not wanting to die.
>Then the guy starts yelling about death traps and demands to see someone named Holly and get some breakfast.
>I've gotta get out of this fucking city.

>>78957080
Too cute to die!
>>78957164
The drones only attacked because of the two topsiders killed by Jim and Sarah.
>>78957136
Unity was already in bad shape because of how it operated.
-Wally kills Jim & Sarah
-They still have to fight the other Topsider team that showed up
-IF they won that fight (not a sure thing) they'd be set upon by the Super Mutts that showed up to vaporize the colony
-You'd never be introduced to Kirbee and your life would become hollow and meaningless.
>>78957319
>You'd never be introduced to Kirbee
this is good enough reason for me...
>>78949133
>>78952589
Fun fact: the last strip in which Wally was seen committing such an act as these anons described was the strip dated March 04, 2014, which in the story was immediately after Jim woke up from his mutation. To our perspective, Wally has not smiled in a couple months short of two years

Come to think of it, did anyone ask Aaron yet whether Sarah ever actually loved him, or was it all just an act?
>>78958589
you are right, lets just bring him with us so he can constantly give topsiders coordinates of our current location, greatly risking everyone's life because holly thinks the head is somehow her dead baby she lost almost 5 years ago.
>>78958589
He wasn't. Lugging him around eventually killed him. If they'd left him in the transporter, he would have been fine.
>>78958410
Holly is right that Clive is happy as a brain in a jar because he's unaware of ever being anything else. Holly however remembers that she used to be human and that she's lost her baby on mutating.
Kinda ironic that she was the one who helped Wally and Linda cope with their mutations, though you gotta ask if maybe that was her trying to cope with hers by proxy.
>>78958713
At first, yes. The point of jim, Sarah, and Unity was to show the perils of giving in whole heartedly to instinct. You can see at one point that Sarah is really wrestling with some issues after her first meeting with Piotr
>>78958834
Piotr deserved to get shoved into drone fire.
>>78958728

>>78967291
for his school newspaper, not entirely sure if he actually did anything else besides that...
>>78967336
Jacob Jackrabbit first appeared in a political comic strip that made fun of Bush's administration in an actual newspaper.
>>78955797
Nah, time travel would open a huge can of worms. I am going with this being a Ditto-Holodeck. With magic or technological food replication.
In this fantasy the illusions behave . If everyone is human because that is the setting.
Holly is probably interacting with her husband. Probably hooked on the fantasy.
>>78955797
>>78967814
I'm inclined to agree with Ditto Holodeck
Wally said he could feel them everywhere, and considering he can control them so well he'd know for sure
>>78967291
Al and Gustine started as Aaron's college newspaper strip. Slice of life kind of deal. And he has done a few others including >>78967796
and a longer running one about Marx.
Interestingly enough, all his comics with the exception of >>78967796

Well he may not be smiling. His whisker could be confused with the edge of his mouth.
So I still think there is am intelligence at work here but it could also be dittos/holodeck delivering what the subconsciously or consciously request.
They were thirsty so water appears.
They were hungry so food appears.
They suspect a trap so one manifests.
Wally thinks about the illusions crushing them and one about most does.
They request to meet Holly and food so that happens.
Rogue "monkey paw " dittos.
>>78970592
Cellphone auto correct ducks balls.
I feel if Endtown was an animated series it would be a very succesful one
>>78970592
Whenever the Dittos Wally took with him from Endtown meet another collection of Dittos their powers seem to increase exponentially. When they were first established with Sparkplug the Dittos were incapable of being tangibly bothered, or maintaining a form that maintained weight and mass.
When they were added to the Unity Dittos they suddenly were able to form solid mass in their illusions, and after Unity could be molded to suit the needs of the traveling party as transportation.
So right now we're at a point of growth where, with these Dittos, including them to another massive cluster expand their illusory abilities possibly to reality warping levels at most, or completely immersive and believable illusions at least.
>>78971198
"Succesful" animated series are bland affairs that hold their main character in status quo. Adventure Time is successful and also post-apocalyptic but it sucks.
Endtown would be severely mangled by TV production.
>>78971362
Well maybe they could make it work
>>78971496
good luck, they will probably aim it towards children turning into a "happy adventures, no one dies, everyone is happy ever after" type of shit show...
>>78971690

Endtown relies on everybody being miserable and unstable at all times

I've seen it mentioned plenty of times before on cripplechan, but then again there might be some overlap between the two userbases (like this guy here, though I really only go on there for a niche reason). Even then I'd agree that, yes, it's a comic which deserves more attention than it gets. It's one of the most engaging, actually interesting, and well-written webcomics I've read, the creator isn't a hack, and the creator has more than enough prior knowledge to understand what's necessary to drive the narrative and what isn't.
So with all this said, why does it still continue to go unnoticed? Is it the lack of fan service?Pic unrelated
>>78973542
why does it still continue to go unnoticed?
this still baffles me, i have never been so engaged in by comic before, and i have never cared more about fictional characters like i do for most of the endtown ones... even cunty.
>Is it the lack of fan service?
maybe, there is some fan service yes, but is it enough? not sure...
the author also doesn't engage in social media like some other authors do (tumblr for lack of better example) nor is active in the furry fandom, maybe this has something to do with that aswell.

All of my absolute favorite webcomics seem to have very small (but loyal) fanbases. I think it's just an inherently difficult medium to get noticed in based off of quality alone, so the networking aspect is really, really important. The ones that have hit it REALLY big (say, Penny Arcade, Dinosaur Comics, Hark! A Vagrant, XKCD) tend to have found a popular niche at an early point in time. If your comic is less popular but still reasonably well-known, there's a good chance it's been linked to or recommended by a more popular author. That appears to have not happened with Endtown.
Actually, Endtown seems to be doing pretty well considering how apparently few connections with other webcomic people Aaron has. Endtown is in about the same weight class as Poppy based on Patreon patrons and revenue. Also, Unsounded has about three times as many patrons but about the same revenue. If you search Twitter for the name each comic, Poppy has some mentions from Kory Bing andartdecade, Unsounded has some from Zach Morrison and EK Weaver, but Endtown has no similar mentions from more popular authors.
>>78975571
i have also noticed, alot of people get turned off (for some reason) by the art, the black and white color scheme and the "furry boogieman", they would dismiss it instantly and only those who got past that and actually gave it a shot realized that it is the writing (among lots of other things) what makes this comic great and totally worth following.
>>78975571
>All of my absolute favorite webcomics seem to have very small (but loyal) fanbases. I think it's just an inherently difficult medium to get noticed in based off of quality alone, so the networking aspect is really, really important.
Tell me about it (Pic). My all time favorite print comic was in a similar rut and is deader than a doornail. Applies to IRL comics too for as long as publishing has been around. Furry comics in particular get the short end of the stick for this.
Fortunately for Endtown it's still "fresh" enough the dedicated fan core won't dissipate. For now.
Also fortunately for Endtown it's digital, so if someone "discovers" it decades after the fandom disintegrated they can still probably get a copy. I ended up spending a couple hundred on just a fraction for mine because LOL rare print copies
>>78968821
Mutating erases some memories. And so does time.
>>78975696
The art style, B&W, layout, and even the website it's hosted on all suggest that Endtown is a newspaper comic - that's what I thought when I first saw it. That's probably way bigger of a barrier than the furry thing - Lackadaisy, Poppy, and even Lamezone have found fans in places you might not have expected them to. (And the authors of those are way furrier than Aaron has ever been.)
>>78975758
Unless Aaron ends up seriously jumping the shark at some point, I don't think we'll be going anywhere. Also, Endtown's been going for seven years. That's more than five years he's kept it going without it being on /co/'s radar.
And you might be wrong about Albedo being dead. Look at Steve's latest journal on FA.
>>78975959

Actually while two Albedo fans are in the same room, mind if I ask if there's anywhere for us to congregate? I only seem to find it in passing. There's... Steve's journal's comments. That's about it. There was an old community group on Yahoo but it's dead. There was an old mailing list, it's dead too.
>>78976033
Nah, having the original printing is legit. You've got a genuine artifact of ancient furry history! Think about all the old furfags whose hands your collection has passed through!
>>78976214
>Think about all the old furfags whose hands your collection has passed through!
Surprisingly few. Collectors like to hold on to this one. Anything outside of the first volume I'll see surface maybe twice a year at the most. It does not circulate much at all. It's about four dozen collectors that between all of them can make one dozen complete sets and the rest disappeared into the woodwork of time.
>having the original printing is legit
>a genuine artifact
1000$ for issue #2
But excepting that they're only worth their cover price. They're worth 2-3$ a pop for volume 1, then volume 2 is worth 8-12$ a pop excepting the infamous finale which goes for 40-50$, then the later volumes 3,4,5 issues all go for around 8-20$ each depending on rarity.
There's no practical demand unless it gets reprinted, and then gets multiple shoutouts from popular blogs.
THEN they'll be worth something.

My fingers are crossed for Holly coming to her senses, and Wally getting two waifus.
>>78983977

>>78983977
Near 0%. Fictional characters do not switch romantic partners in most fiction unless they believe the other character died or something like that. Not outside of dramas in which that is a main source of conflict.
Rejecting these feelings is just something that Kirbee and Wally will have to deal with. Now that is a standard source of drama.
The unspoken rules of romantic fiction work that way. Wally is not going to cheat on Holly, not while she is an emotional wreck.
>>78984466
>Wally is not going to cheat on Holly
No, he's just going to dump her when he leaves her at Endtown.

>>78987080

>>78984395
Or a fat lip.
>>78985243
Not what I said in the slightest.
This is Holly's breakdown, and she is the one who has to navigate the hardest part of it.
Holly might never be "alright", but at this point, everybody is damaged, everybody is messed up and stressed out and on the edge of doom. And you know what? Some people have looked over that edge, found their solution, and taken a step back.
I don't know if whatever is wrong with Holly has a proper name or a treatment option, but this is Endtown. Things will happen. And it will be like an application of a wrench to your gut, but it will not be the end.

She posts things to her Patreon regularly. I'm not a patron so I don't know what they are, but I assume it means she's working on things. It's up to the patrons to decide if they're getting their money's worth, but Tracy doesn't strike me as the kind of person who'd sucker people out of their money in order to NOT work on her art and her comic. Her problem has always been that she's too much of a perfectionist about Lackadaisy to keep to a schedule. I imagine she draws a bunch but keeps throwing it out because it's not good enough. And I'm okay with that, it's her comic and she doesn't owe me anything. Maybe she owes her patrons something, but again that's for them to decide.
>>79002905
This reminds me of something I've thought about for a while. Obviously, Lackadaisy has much longer strips compared to Endtown, and the artwork has a much more intricate level of detail that it does. Tracy's work, in all honestly, impresses me, and I find it very visually appealing. However, when you consider the rate at which at updates nowadays, and how long it presumably takes to write, draw, and ink a strip that large and busy, I ask myself this question:
Is such an attention to detail really worth it when the content creator should (arguably) ideally be focusing on content delivery? Sure, Tracy does tend to deliver strips on schedule, but the time waiting for them to arrive and the time you'll spend reading the new strip (a few minutes at the most) are quite different.
In contrast, Aaron's style is much simpler and easier to produce, the strips consist of only four small square panels, and, until fairly recently in the comic's history, he could deliver five strips per week. Indeed, considering Aaron's background in animation and making newspaper strips, it might seem only obvious that his simpler art style would reflect this, as both mediums typically call for making more in less amounts time. But despite his impressively consistent schedule, he only receives less than a third of what Tracy receives over Patreon (though that could probably be attributed more to the comic's somewhat obscure status than anything).
Again, I like both Lackadaisy and Endtown, and I do appreciate the amount of attention Tracy gives to her comic, but I'm just not entirely sure that such a level of attention is exactly what comic readers want when it shows that a frequent and routine updating schedule does go a long way.
>>79003475
>he could deliver five strips per week.
he used to, until he got that fucking leg infection... i do feel sorry for him, and i wish i could throw money into his patreon considering how much i enjoy his comic.
>Is such an attention to detail really worth it?
thats the thing though... while i don't deny her art is really fucking good, i read comics primarily for the story and theres where (at least for me) lackadaisy fails to deliver, it is really slow, paired with a slow update schedule (only rivaled by prequel) the comic just doesn't feels engaging.
but thats my opinion, if her patrons are getting their moneys worth that is perfectly fine. I just cant help to feel salty that endtown sure as fuck deserves more than 1.5k
>>79001485
Ooh, ooh! Got something better. You can see feathers covering his arm and neck, but he's not wearing the Richard mask. Instead he's wearing the human mask from the movie Drive, before Ryan Gosling killed Ron Perlman.Do you think once he's done, he hallucinates one of the empty buildings being an active store where his old war-buddy works? He scrounges the place and takes a single item there, believing that Beard gave it to him on the house? Then later he goes to a busted phone booth or broken telephone/cellphone, hearing messages telling him where to go to continue the spree?
"Yo, it's 'Donnie' from the post office. Need you to deliver a shipment to 216th NE St, about twenty miles east from where you are now. Guy's getting real antsy, best get that shit to him quick before he starts a riot. Careful around that part of town though, hear it's swarming with mutts!" *Click*
>>79003679
>he used to, until he got that fucking leg infection
Anon wasn't implying, he knows.
>>79003679
>the comic just doesn't feels engaging
That's a good point, and one that I was trying to make with my post. How interested and engaged can you stay with the story when it can only make a pace forward at one-month intervals? You also mentioned Prequel, which is probably one of the greatest examples of this for a comic currently running. Kazerad's longest dry spell between updates (in TWO instances: the waiting for 'Aggy: Extrapolate' and 2015's Halloween update) was 93 days. I started following Prequel during both times, and I can't help but admit that I nearly gave up on the comic altogether right before the dry spells ended. I'm nearly at my wit's end again because Kaz hasn't brought anything new to the table since that Halloween update - 76 days ago. Then again, he's basically the textbook definition of a hack, using the definition of someone who does quality work in a shitty way.
>>79003867
>Kazerad's longest dry spell between updates was 93 days
>Halloween update was 76 days ago
how he managed to get 60k for his merchandise campaign is beyond me.
>>79003475
I'd be perfectly happy if Lackadaisy started sacrificing detail for faster updates, and I'm sure plenty of others would agree. But Lackadaisy belongs to Tracy and she gets to decide what her comic should be and what goals she wants it to accomplish. I'm sure she's been badgered incessantly by people who want her to update faster, and I'm sure she could do so if she really wanted to - she's a professional artist, she knows what deadlines are - but that isn't what she wants. Maybe she's losing fans because of her schedule, and maybe she's okay with that, because she wouldn't be able to feel proud of Lackadaisy if she had to put less time into it.
>>79004059
Good reader relationship. Pretty much all the creators/people who work on prequel hang out in prequel threads and shoot the shit us.
>>79003679

Concept artwork shows it's supposed to be action oriented. It's just taking a long ass time to get there.
>>79003475
It wouldn't matter if there were month long waits if they were fucking regular, or if Tracy came here and shitposted like Kaz does. Either would make the wait bearable. Ironically, Tracy has been updating faster than prequel for the past half a year or so, if you count stuff that doesn't advance the plot.

Re: Kaz/Prequel
I am a bit miffed that updates are infrequent. However, I love the comic, especially when the ghost explains magic to Katia and she gets it. That sequence just made so much SENSE to me, and the graphics/games were cool! I watched several of the gifs loop in order to catch all the nuanced details that last for only a frame or two.
That, and it makes me want to do a completely fresh install of Oblivion with OOO and some other choice mods.

The world is fucking massive and we had only seen a tiny region in which the locals are still engaged in a "cold war" that in some parts had ended.
This community somehow knows about this and hides with dittos, it became so fucking productive that humans can live without the hazmat suits and tolerate the mutants (perhaps they can even turn mutants who want it to go back to human).
The reason the characters still think its an illusion is a time skip made by a memory wipe, they are suffering an episode in which their minds are struggling said memory wipe so they can't tell where this community is located.
