It's a reboot to the series, in with the new. The left looks great. Keep the old one where it belongs (In the old series) and let the new metalsanic have it's time in the spotlight.

Right one looks way cooler. The glowing cyclops eye is really cool, the overall design makes it look more robotic (different parts look more like parts of a machine, while the left just looks like a guy with metal armor), looks overall less human and is bigger to help add to intimidation. I know /co/ will laugh at me for saying this but the right one looks literally edgy, like you could cut yourself just from touching it. For a combat robot that's a good thing, it's clearly fucking dangerous.

The left one is just a dumb sonic face with generic robot armor for a body. The hands especially look pretty cartoony which makes it hard to think of as threatening.

I don't plan on watching the new SMBZ even though I liked the old one when I was younger. I guess I'm just over the whole 'sprite fight' thing.

For what it's worth, the left is Bass from Megaman 7 with a lazy retexture of mecha sonic.
The one on the right is Mecha Sonic from Sonic & Knuckles. One is official work, one is an atrocious and embarrassing mix of two pieces of work together.
The reality is that the entire idea is cringeworthy. Sprite movies were the thing back in the early 2000's but now you can do so much better.

I still like mecha sonic more but I want to see what metallix looks like in a proper fight scene. There's probably a lot of cool things you could do since I imagine his sprite is easier to manipulate than mecha sonic's.

Overall mecha sonic's design is better and far more intimidating, mostly because of his non human looking cyclops eye and less cartoonishly proportioned body. He legit looks like he'll murder the shit out of you with no remorse.
